Great job this week, Michael. You've come into your own. Do we even need Christian back? Hmm. I also liked your thoughts on the Pelagos, which were a bit different than some of the others ones I've heard on YT.
The fact this watch splits opinion so much underlines the point - it's not for everyone. Having collected for 30 years, and this being the cheapest in my collection say this: It's fantastic; love it!
As the FXD is on my Wish List, I’ve watched every video on the Reference. This video is in the Top 2. Although your comments were few, they were fresh, well thought-out and on-point. Nice job! Oh, regarding the T&H videos, Michael should continue doing videos on his own, with the “occasional” joint discussion videos thrown in…just a few times a month. Michael you’re a natural in front of the camera and T&H needs to take advantage of this.
agreed on all fronts. a lot of watch reviewers were haters on the design and saying it was a missed opportunity. Agreeing with Michael here - they nailed it with an intelligent and thoughtful design with no fluff - just purpose. rare in watches these days. spot someone with that watch we are having a conversation!
Good commentary on the FXD, I like that they designed and built a real tool watch. I will keep wearing my BB58, however, as I absolutely love everything about it. Good points on the Ming, which reminds me a lot of a Movado museum watch. And that is a compliment, as I have always loved the purity of design of the Movado and have owned a museum watch for a long time. BTW, what happened to Anna?
Listen, I love the lines of a vintage Rolex way more than a modern one, but to say that modern rolexes are less "utilitarian" because of their more "luxurious" design is not really scientific. In my opinion, a modern rolex submariner is MORE heavy duty and utilitarian than a vintage one. Why? Simply because its made to modern tolerances with more modern technology. If I had to take a watch to war without worrying about price, id take a modern Tudor or Rolex over a NOS vintage model any day.
If not mistaken, on the Tudor FDX, you forgot to mention that the bezel numbers are inverted, therefore displaying the time left rather than time spent... If you did mentionit, for some reason I did not capture. Anyway, nice video!
It's a dive watch, a tool watch, and it's supposed to be clearly visible on the wrist underwater. I have the Pelagos with the bracelet and it wears just fine on my 6.5" wrist. Choosing all 38mm watches (or whatever you think is your sweet size) from different categories would be a mistake in my opinion.
