    In this video we disassemble the central locking / folding mechanism of a Bugaboo Fox in order to help you troubleshoot problems you might be having with yours. We do a full disassembly and also demonstrate how the many different components and assemblies of components work together, so that you can better see at what stage of the folding / unfolding process you might be having problems. We then reassemble the mechanism completely.

    Great video! I've pulled apart my fox but it still seems to have a few gremlins. I'm now struggling to get one side to lock in open position when fully opened. I found no obvious faults when disassembled, it's got me beat!

      For me, I have a Fox 2, the right side of the mechanism is a bit stuck. It was before, and opening it up and looking at it actually made it worse to be honest. I cleaned it, greased it, but the mechanism is still too tight. Not sure why - but I have reached out to Bugaboo to get a replacement axle and spring. Curious to see what they say.

    Hi Great video
    We’ll support your page. I believe in our case the wire has popped out from the botton on the handle bar. Do you know how we can disassemble it and re attach the wire?

  • @Airness90

    Thanks for the video. I can no longer attach the handle of the stroller and therefore can no longer use it. I did the disassembly according to your video and it immediately worked better. Unfortunately the next day the problem was present again. I find the pull levers to fold the stroller very hard to pull. Do you have any idea what the problem is by any chance. Thanks in advance for your detailed help.

      I was looking for this video yoo but couldn't find any. Tried to dissadsemvle the handle myself but didn't succeed, as the only screw there only dissassembled the snaps that control the handle bar extention, not the folding mechanism. Would love to know how to do it. The spring and wire doesnt pull back when disengaged, so something must be the matter with this mechanism.

    What a useful video, thank you very much. I actually have an issue where my plastic sleeve in the first disc does not move freely around the axle when it is pushed on completely. I can't see what is causing this stickyness but it obviously prevents the whole mechanism from working.

    • @BarnevognverkstedNo
      @BarnevognverkstedNo  11 місяців тому

      Thanks for the contribution, we really appreciate it! Assuming you mean when the mechanism is still disassembed, and you're just testing rotation via the triggers (like at 3.26 in this video), there are plastic tags on the 'floor' of the first disk, and the sleeve has to be positioned in correctly (and the wire as well) for these tags not to impede the disk's rotation. If you mea when the stroller is fully reassembled (but otherwise the sleeve rotates fine), then it could be a problem further on in the mechanism. Hope this helps! :)

    • @peterbeekhuis8239
      @peterbeekhuis8239 11 місяців тому

      I have exactly the same issue. The plastic inner core seems to be too big (or the sleeve too small)

    • @BarnevognverkstedNo
      @BarnevognverkstedNo  11 місяців тому

      That suggests a warping issue then, if the problem is repeating. I would probably try a combination of sanding with a dremel and thick lubrication (though I can't promise this will fix it, and I would procede carefully). There used to be warping issues with the Cameleon seat frame: ua-cam.com/video/J3u_hkMHleA/v-deo.html (7:04)

    • @nbailes
      @nbailes 10 місяців тому

      Just to close this out - I never got to the bottom of why it wouldn't move freely when the sleeve was all the way on. It may well have been a warping issue - it wasn't a visible problem and my partner likes to hang heavy shopping from third party hooks on the handles. Still, it has served 1.5 children before getting to this point, so not too bad.
      I had tried sanding various bits by hand with sand paper but I couldn't get it moving freely. In the end I purchased a replacement handle set from eBay for £30 and it came with new sleeves and springs. I just reassembled it with some lubrication on the rotational springs and I'm up and running again, confident that it will last for the remainder of our second child :)
      Thanks again

    Hi there, would the popped wire be the reason my bugaboo fox central fold mechanism seems unstable and clicks, after I have unfolded it and set it up? I push down on the handlebar and one side is sturdy but the other side can be pushed down ever slightly, doesn't feel sturdy and makes a click sound. The pram still pushes fine but just doesn't feel like it's locked in place. Thanks!

      @BarnevognverkstedNo  7 місяців тому

      Thanks so much for the contribution, we really appreciate it! You can definitely try lubrication. I would recommend wd-40 (with the straw attachment). Spray generously between all the disks and work the mechanisms (fold and unfold) to help the lubricant sink in. Let me know if it doesn't work though, and we can brainstorm further. :)

    Hi there, thanks for a great video. The spring and wire are both in their right positions, but when i engage the black locking button and slide the white handle lock upwardsthe the spring stretches and the wire rotates, but when i disengage again it doesnt pull back at all, the spring remains engaged and thus the locking mechanism remain open, as such, the pram cannot be locked in a usable mode, it just falls apart into a folded mode. Do you have any idea how to deal with this one? Thanks!

    • @bubblefoil
      @bubblefoil Рік тому +1

      Hi, I seem to have the same problem. I've noticed that the black cylinder that's actuated by the spring and wire has a lot of friction when it's fully set in its place, so the spring is not strong enough to overcome that friction and does not lock the mechanism.
      If I pull out the cylinder just a few millimeters, it can rotate freely. I don't know how it could get so stiff. Maybe it needs to be greased by I don't know what's a proper lubricant for that plastic part.

    • @mrrichstones
      @mrrichstones Рік тому +1

      @@bubblefoil I didn't find an answer anywhere, tried different greases but non of them worked, just got sticky. I ended up sandpapering the black cylinder on the inside to widen its diameter, took some time but managed to get it to rotate a bit better so at least I could use the pram again. Stupid design.

    • @bubblefoil
      @bubblefoil Рік тому

      @@mrrichstones thank you so much for coming back with your solution. I had the same plan - trying some grease, then widening the outer cylinder. I just wasn't sure whether to choose sandpaper or heat :)
      Agreed, I just can't believe a premium pram for a premium price suffers from such a lame issue.

    • @bubblefoil
      @bubblefoil Рік тому

      @@mrrichstones OK, so I've filed it down to a larger diameter. It rotates freely now, until I put back the wire. It seems like the wire is stuck in the tube somewhere, being another source of friction. OMG, this sucks...

    • @mrrichstones
      @mrrichstones Рік тому +1

      @@bubblefoil The wire you can easily check by just pulling it back end forth holding one end and using the white sliding button with the other hand. Was no friction for me, ran effortlessly back and forth in its tube. However, with the filing, I had to do A LOT, until it ran smoothly not only without the wire, but with the wire and spring put back on. I think I probably disassembled and assembled 20 times until I was satisfied with the friction.. every time was like, "nah, just a little bit more".. indeed, ridiculously stupid design.. Also tried swapping to other types of springs, but found the original spring was best..
