The Doctor Who Prom variation of the 10th Doctor's Song, "Vale Decem".
For those interested, a montage of different regenerations were shown. In my opinion, the original was much better...

The first clap was for Chris Eccleston and the second was for David Tennant. The rest of the doctors were played during This Is Gallifrey.
This music always makes me cry. ALWAYS.
I've never cried at TV. I came close when we lost 10, and that sweet and sad music was a huge part of that. But I never broke. I was determined that I'd see out 10's stint the same way I saw it in, that joy of having such a happy and excitable Doctor, so I refused let myself feel sad.
Now I know the lyrics though... just... wow... the song has more meaning than I ever thought. Perhaps when I next watch it I might not be able to hold back tears...

The end, from 2:25-2:43, is what kills me. That theme is so haunting and beautiful and perfectly portrays the ancient history of The Doctor and his pain and glory....wow. Just beautiful. And I am fascinated to know those were actually words and that there is an amazing translation! Thanks for posting this.
@FireflyFanatic3 There was a big screen in the hall, at 0:12 Christopher Eccleston appeared, and then at 0:44 David Tennant appeared. A montage of the 8 previous Doctors appeared during a performance of "This Is Gallifrey" moments before :D

@Ereldor That's been discounted in more than one way, RTD even had featured a scene during End Of Time Part Two where the Doctor referred too it as "a 48 hour bug" but he remembered newer viewers might refer it back to Human Nature. The idea was described as being a trick directed at the Master by using "A Half broken Chameleon Arch and a wide eyed expression" during the events of "The Forgotten".
@MegaUnoriginal It's a moral tale. It's dark, good, science fiction. It's the reason why I friggin love science fiction. Morality tales. Moral ambiguity is what science fiction is all about. And showing the Doctor as an alien with a different sort of morality is beautiful to watch.

When I heard this song and read the translation, I just wondered... What thought David Tennant, when he heard this song? he's dream was that he become THE DOCTOR! but he had to go... In my view, this beautiful music suits David Tennant too... Goodbye David, the tenth Doctor! We miss you so much Q_Q You was great!
@someone332 Well, that has technically been resolved. The baby has become River Song, its a fixed point now, if she hadn't been shot by Hitler, Mels would never have regenerated into River at that point, and she probably would have killed the Doctor at a later event. I admit, it is a bit odd, and both Amy and Rory seem a little unfazed, but until Episode 13, we are supposed to think this storyline is finishing up.
@Trayusstudent1 Wikia says he's actually a counter tenor. The vocal range of a counter tenor is equivalent to that of a mezzo-soprano. The singer Michael Maniaci is the only known man who can refer to himself as a true male soprano because he is able to sing in the soprano vocal range using the modal voice as a woman would. He is able to do this because his larynx never fully developed during puberty

@someone332 That is unfortunately the result of shifts in episode order behind the scenes. Most notably, both Night Terrors and The Doctor's Wife were supposed to be part of Series 5, but then got moved to Series 6, Night Terrors was also supposed to be Episode 3, whereas Doctor's Wife was supposed to be Episode 9, Black Spot would've been episode 4. Personally, from a non linear POV, I would say "The God Complex" follows "Let's Kill Hitler" in order for it to make sense...

@ChalkeyProductions I especially like the fact End Of Time is getting a CD to itself with Vale Decem, Vale (which I guess is the awesome variation on the Doctor's Theme or the Ood Song) and "The New Doctor".

just listening to the song makes me tear up, then i start thinking about the 10th Doctor and i start crying. i hate it :(
the song is so much more powerful when you read the translation along with it and know what is being said
@DeltaBravo1216 Yeah, this was translated with a mood appropriate twist because it doesn't make much sense in our language today :)
@Erikjust True. There was that moment in Time Crash where 10 said to 5 how he liked being him.
@Trayusstudent1 I know. Though I feel the need to point out that I think it was so much easier to bond with DT as the Doctor because of the vast emotion he showed. I think it added a depth to the character that now that it's gone, Matt Smith's Doctor feels a bit lackluster. I'm partially biased because I absolutely adore DT, although Matt is brilliant.
@someone332 ...prospect of being the best episodes of the show. I believe Episode 13 will be brilliant and actually answer nearly every question we've been given so far.

I love 9 ... no one ever gives him enough credit. It's all "yeah we love Ten" and "oh no one is as good as Tennant - 11 sucks" or "I think 11 is doing a really good job" no one ever seems to remember much of nine .... :(

did anyone notice that david tennant plays a role in harry potter 4? he plays bartemius crouch junior (the one that try's to kill harry.)
@Trayusstudent1 She's their DAUGHTER. They APPARENTLY think they have to follow all the rules of time travel so they're baby is a lost cause, YET IN THE GIRL WHO WAITED (which is a beautiful episode, 10/10), they DEFY all of that. SO WHY THEN NOT DO THAT FOR MELODY? arggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh. The Let's Kill Hitler PREQUEL is the best thing in terms of this characterization, and then they throw all that good stuff out the window.
@MegaUnoriginal I get that. All the Doctors are entertaining. I find the other Doctors dark in their own ways. Especially Eccleston. Smith has been shining as a dark Doctor as well, especially in The Girl Who Waited. :)

@WhoseLine722 Its weird, I think Matt's doing an excellent job and his portrayal is very reminiscent of the older Doctors, and he's a very good Doctor, but I do still miss David as the Doctor too lol, hardly seems possible it was 10 months since he left :O
No worries :) It is truly beautiful and I must admit I was shocked when I saw it was a guy too. Initially I thought "that poor castrato man!"

The way they do the "Pacifici" line is what kills me, at least in the released version. I actually find myself nearly breaking down right there.
Just a heads up - Murray Gold has posted the lyrics, and they don't match up to the fan-subscribed ones you've got in the description very well.

@ceheape The problem is, and this is partly RTD's fault, Doctor Who was never ever about emotion or pain. We never got backstory's for companions, the Doctor was just the Doctor, not some all powerful God-Like character. I think what Steven Moffat's trying to do, is restore the more classic series aspects now Doctor Who is a popular show.
@TheRedGoldfish - yes i do standard grade music as well, i know what it is
@jasex2000 Matt Smith is cool in his own right in my opinion, whereas the 10th Doctor was human like, the 11th Doctor is completely alien, unable to properly handle situations 10 was used too i.e. being snogged by his companion. 11 has this comedic, yet dangerous quality we will see explored more in Series 6. I only hope 10 will remain the only "human" Doctor.

@ceheape I think one of the many brilliant aspects of Matt's characterisation, is to make a completely simple situation, incredibly awkward. There's the brilliant scene in Xmas Carol where Kazran is asking the Doctor how to talk to girls and he says "I have no idea..." Having said that though, although I love Matt's first episode, I felt I got to know Tennant's Doctor a lot quicker in his first episode. I think Matt was directed to play it like David and gradually bring his Doctor through?

It's not FAIR! He was absolutely amazing. Imo, there's not enough emotion/pain/depth to Matt Smith's Doctor. While I love Matt Smith, I think that since Davies left, it only gets worse from here.

@Trayusstudent1 But that doesn't make sense. It makes even less sense with Black Spot in Night Terrors' place. The God Complex is just them being like "It's okay to ignore your daughter's kidnapping as long as you get a new car!" The Doctor LEAVES THEM without resolving their LOST DAUGHTER. THAT'S STUPID.

@MeganAngel315 They don't improv. At least, Matt Smith doesn't - He talks about that on an episode of The Nerdist. The scripts are the scripts, you don't screw around with such great writing.

The Eleventh Doctor is fantastic, and I love Moffat's series and hope his tenure goes on longer than his predecessor, but...god, Ten, I'm completely heterosexual and I still feel a lump in my throat when I realise you're gone. I know you're not GONE gone - you live on somewhere inside Eleven, and there's a clone with Rose, but...Eleven just isn't the same.

@MeganAngel315 I can't really agree with you. I kinda like Amy. But then again, I'm APPARENTLY one of the few people who couldn't frickin' stand Rose. I DO think it's possible (and likely) that David Tennant will make a cameo appearance, though it's more likely that he'll just be Doctor 10.5 instead of being a time-travel crossover. That said, I like Matt Smith, AND I like Tennant. There's no reason to hate the new because you liked the old.

@Trayusstudent1 Cos timey whimey is totally old school Doctor Who. ;) Doctor Who wasn't originally a show about time travel, that was just the plot device. The show was about history and aliens and science fiction. Girl Who Waited is possibly the best episode to do time travel right. Doctor Who NEEDS some of what RTD had, just not a sulking emo Doctor, because that's stupid and boring. We need episodes like Vincent and the Doctor and The Girl Who Waited.
