well if its any help, I am a secondary school science teacher, but I also teach violin and am head of strings at my school. I wish I'd have heard of this collaboration, I'd have been all over this. We also have quite a few kids who are involved as well so classical music is definitely NOT dead, especially with the popularity of shows like Dr Who and music for computer games.
The Doctor Who Fandom is truly one of a kind. Other fans watch, but Whovians create. Moffat described that no other fandom is so involved in the show and community and creating. Videos so incredible like this one that fans are nearly brought to tears. There is no other fan base so incredible, so beautiful, so magical.
Get off your high horse. There's so many other fandoms much better and more creative than the Doctor Who fandom. Don't get me wrong, i fucking love the show and the fandom. But no, we are not one of a kind, we're definitely not the most creative by far.
Vinyl Scratch You're right, this post was kind of cocky-sounding, I didn't intend that, sorry. I haven't had the chance to participate much in any other fandoms, so I haven't really seen/understood the amazing stuff from others.
That's one of the reasons I'm hoping, perhaps beyond hope, that when Collin Baker shows up on Star Trek Continues, he will be playing the 6th Doctor. I love Star Trek, but having the Doctor on the Enterprise would make the fanboy in me go into overload. Vic Mignogna who plays Kirk as well as Baker himself keep mentioning the Doctor when they talk about the next episode. Although they won't say straight out he will be playing the Doctor, but one person on facebook asked Vic about it, and his response was, "Spoilers sweety." Oh boy. I will die of anticipation before the episode airs on youtube.
I am sooooo grateful for all these people coming together to CREATE the vision of sharing their appreciation, in the form of music -surrounding the tale of "Doctor Who". Gives me hope for the species of humans.
This is so fantastic. Each one of them puting his emotions and feels about the series in this orchestra piece. You can feel in your skin all the love for the series. The music becomes much more emotional.
I am soo proud that my daughter is part of this. Thank you to the guy (Stephen Willis) for all his hard work in putting all the different videos together - and well done to all who took part. Fantastic. x
At the time, he was a treble - a boy with an unbroken voice who would sing the soprano part in a choir. The original track was written for a solo countertenor - a grown man who sings in falsetto - but this was the next best thing for our arrangement. :)
I've always known that Doctor Who has had a great soundtrack, but after watching this I realize that Gold makes absolute art when he writes a piece and should be being winning awards for outstanding music!
This is quite possibly the single most impressive thing I have seen in a very long time. It makes me wish I could trade my visual talent for musical talent. Keep up the incredible work!
4:56- The harmony there makes me temporarily have faith in humanity. Even if we don't have two hearts, our only one is just as strong with the help of fans like this.
Did you know that Vale Decem means "Farewell Ten" in Latin? It was a sad song already, but then you find that out and it gives a whole new layer of sadness to it!
I really love how you guys take different people from a little bit of everywhere and share the love of Who. Your work is just brilliant, and you guys need to keep up the good work. :D
I have to say this is by far the most amazing fan work I've ever seen. You all did a marvelous job and made the official orchestra proud I'm sure. Bravo. Absolutely wonderful and a delight to listen to!
I am in all-too-real tears by the sheer brilliance of these wonderful musicians. Bravo everyone! Wish I could have procured the sheet music to have joined in. I hope to join for the next video!
This Is Gallifrey is Murray Gold´s masterpiece, so evocative and full of emotion. This version is fabulous. I love this orchestra., I wish I knew any instrument to participate, but Im content in hearing this beauty.
I can't even describe how blown away I am. The singer who did the solo, that was magnificent. For the sake of the world, each of you need to keep being awesome.
I am so proud to be a Whovian. Thank you so much for this. I ended up in tears. This is absolutely beautiful. Thank you. I want to hug every single one of you!
cwcleavenger I'm going to try to... I hope they'll say yes to it because we're already doing a Latin song. Plus, it'd give me an unfair advantage as I know the lyrics to Vale Decm already.
What a wonderful way to start off my Friday! This is absolutely brilliant; I especially liked how you used the string section when you rolled the credits. Many thanks again for this wonderful opportunity!
I am astonished that this is the first time I hear of you. You DID bring me to tears, made me relive the sheer beauty of the Doctor and this precious music.
Bravo to all involved in this amazing orchestra!!! These videos bring tears to my eyes every time I watch them!! So beautiful to see/hear kids & adults from all over the world creating such gorgeous music!!! (Murray Gold compositions are brilliant!!). Thank-You!!
every time this comes up on my Doctor who Soundtrack playlist, i get chills. you guys create the exact same feeling. thankyou. i hope i can contribute later on with my flute, piccolo and/or trombone skills.
This always gives me chills especially coming down to the very end of the song. You know what im talking about. I cry everytime- thinking back to David's regeneration :'((((((((

they keep telling us classical music is dead, schools keep closing music programs, then you see something like this and feel hope for the world

'they keep telling us classical music is dead'
?!!
Who are 'they' ?
@Student Samuel Ma I- I love classical music-
This is why I adore you Doctor Who fans. No matter who you are.

But this video is pretty incredible

I was so expecting someone to say "I don't wanna go"
I hope one of these days at a convention, right before he leaves the stage, he says, "I don't wanna go." Ah the wailing.
@@DavidNicholson101 Satan, I thought you were sucked into space
Six years later (sort of), this is still brilliant~
Vale Decem always gave me chills, but this version in particular gives me goosebumps several times!
When they started singing I thought I was about to cry. Absolutely amazing.
MAJOR respect for all the shockingly fabulous double reeds!
I agree
This is absolutely awesome. To be able to put together the music from Doctor Who in this way is quite an achievement. I love it.
I am soo proud that my daughter is part of this. Thank you to the guy (Stephen Willis) for all his hard work in putting all the different videos together - and well done to all who took part. Fantastic. x
So beautiful. Murray Gold works bring up emotion so strong, and this group created magic together. Thank you for creating, and sharing!
One little correction, his last name is Gold, not Goldstein, but yeah, his tracks are amazing.
Ah, auto corrected. Thanks.
This makes me want to start up clarinet again. This is so gloriously marvelously flawless. ALL THE AWARDS.
This is wonderful... the concept, the idea, the way it's been done, and finally the way it's played. Absolutly wonderful.
Pretty much cried badly listening to this. Absolutely mind blowing. It's the greatest piece of Dr Who music I have ever listened to.
This video just shows how much Doctor Who means to people, God Bless Doctor Who!!!
That boy who starts at 3:51. Just wow, sir. Wow. Please become famous and make like 20 thousand albums?
Listening to Vale Decem sent shivers down my spine the entire time. This is a truly brilliant accomplishment.
Sketched Stars yeah, knowing the translation of the lyrics makes it even sadder to watch/hear. Farewell Ten, my favorite doctor.
Sketched Stars, especially considering that The Doctor knew what the words meant as he was getting up to claim his reward.
Fantastic collaboration. It sent shivers through my body, and stands as proud testament to Murray's great work.
I actually have chills.
this is absolutely amazing, It's like the fans of Doctor Who all over the world coming together to sing hyms to a show they so love
I swear they did the PS3 boot noise at the start.
The PS3 did the orchestra boot noise :)
6:06, goosebumps people, makes me miss the tenth doctor even more
I guess he's back
I really love how you guys take different people from a little bit of everywhere and share the love of Who. Your work is just brilliant, and you guys need to keep up the good work. :D
I love how the fans of Doctor Who all vary so much, in race and age, but they all love it so much AND THEY'RE ALL SO TALENTED
This is gorgeous. Such a joy to listen to. Thank you all and marvelous job!
What an amazing collaboration - huge congratulations to everyone involved. Doctor Who continues to inspire great things.
Amazing!! You can practically feel the love the fans have for what they are playing. Music like this is beyond words
I have to say this is by far the most amazing fan work I've ever seen. You all did a marvelous job and made the official orchestra proud I'm sure. Bravo. Absolutely wonderful and a delight to listen to!
THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. The young man singing Vale Decem was absolutely brilliant.
ive just gone back to the start of this video and watched all through FOR THE EIGHTH TIME
That is so beautiful! I cried! This video truly shows how FANTASTIC Doctor Who fans are.
I am in all-too-real tears by the sheer brilliance of these wonderful musicians. Bravo everyone!
Wish I could have procured the sheet music to have joined in. I hope to join for the next video!
This has got to be one of the most creative things I have seen in a long, long time. Great work!
The Doctor Who Fan Orchestra makes me realize how huge the Doctor Who fandom is! *Hugs computer* I love you all!
These are so beautiful. I actually prefer them to the original pieces- so much more powerful knowing they're from the combined adoration of the fans.
The "memoriam" bit breaks my heart piece by piece every time I hear it... in a good way! This is truly stunning!
This Is Gallifrey is Murray Gold´s masterpiece, so evocative and full of emotion. This version is fabulous. I love this orchestra., I wish I knew any instrument to participate, but Im content in hearing this beauty.
You, guys, are fantastic. It's just... breathtaking. I am proud of our fandom.
Classical music always finds a way.
I can't even describe how blown away I am. The singer who did the solo, that was magnificent.
For the sake of the world, each of you need to keep being awesome.
Singer at 3:50 will always stun forever. Wow, you go!

I keep trying to convince my orchestra/chorus teachers at my school to do these two, doomsday theme, and the long song! Still no luck :(
did you show them the songs cause they are both amazing
cwcleavenger I did, but apparently they have other plans.
ripples sweety ugh well ask them if they can work it in next simester or year or something
cwcleavenger I'm going to try to... I hope they'll say yes to it because we're already doing a Latin song. Plus, it'd give me an unfair advantage as I know the lyrics to Vale Decm already.

This is so beautiful... I am so proud to be a part of this fandom watching this.
god, I m speachless.
Vale Decem had me in tears. Amazing job!
What is that instrument in the big box at 1:27. It sounds like an oboe but is too big for an English Horn.
6:03 "I don't wanna go..."
What a wonderful way to start off my Friday! This is absolutely brilliant; I especially liked how you used the string section when you rolled the credits. Many thanks again for this wonderful opportunity!
