The system i heard was a Brinkmann Bardo (which a good friend bought) with the Leben and a bunch of A23 cables and step up. I had a few of my own favorite LP's with me, the system blew my mind. Klipsch model 4's (Forte, heresy, etc): Polymid drivers, vastly improved crossover. They are head and shoulders better than any previous Klipsch. They don't shout, get harsh and they resolve. They told me that a tube pre-amp with a solid state amp would be my favorite combo. Previous models couldn't do that, they were too PA like. These sound like real instruments, especially drums. Two things I recommend people do for Klipsch: Make sure they have proper space to breathe in a treated room, and get a tube pre amp at least. I got rid of my high end JM labs because I enjoy the three- way Klipsch much better than any two way I've owned or listened to.

Hands down the Thorens, TD 124, or perhaps a Garrard 401. None of the new tables have the exhilaration and drive and energy and sense of propulsion as the old Thorens. They’re much quieter and cast a bigger stage with a blacker background, but they don’t have that sense of human energy.

@Ken Micallef Jazz Vinyl Audiophile Can you say anything about Tannoy with your Shindo gear, especially in comparison to the Devore Os with your Shindo gear?
In all honesty, Dave, Vinnie and Steve could make a garbage can sound great!
Sure. He’s making a different point though…
Good stuff. Does the bass behave with the O/96s? I have the O/93s and love them, but haven’t loved the bass of the O/96s when I’ve heard them. Flabby. Not sure what would cause that.
In my room I have the exact opposite experience. The O93s are much softer and less well defined overall in my room
You sir have a lot of notches on your hifi stand. 😉 Your experience and opinion is welcome.
Thanks a lot Kosie.
Great to get to see your gear. Thanks
Yamaha Recording Custom drums...late 80's. I have a full set...nothing like them! ...and to think at one point I almost sold them and was dissuaded by the jerks I had to deal with on Craigslist so I kept them...my good luck!
That’s at the recording series. Why have so many artists left Yamaha for Gretsch.? I mean beyond the old school correct thing. Nothing sounded like those old Yamaha
@@kenmicallefjazzvinylaudiop6455 I owned a studio in Staten Island and someone brought them in for a session...the next day I was shopping for a set and the next week I owned a set and never looked back....ha!ha!

Most have left Yamaha because their higher tier drums are no longer Made in Japan by Sakae. And their Artist Relations/Backline Support is not what it used to be, which is incredibly important for a pro drummer.
You can always find a nice OG Yamaha kit, but expect to pay for it if it's in good condition.
Or look into the actual Sakae-branded kits. Very nice sound. The British Drum Co is producing some phenomenal drums as well, though pricey.
And nearly every respectable recording studio I know keeps a classic Gretsch kit as their main house kit...for the floor tom and bass drum sound if nothing else...and for good reason. Either that or a classic Ludwig kit.
Unfortunately, this video seemed like more of an ad/sales pitch rather than a "system tour". I guess that's to be expected with the Stereophile association, but :/. At least it was respectable gear for the most part.
Enjoy the music.

Agreed. Detail can become wearisome.
Not that you play everything at a high volume, but do you have understanding neighbors?

I dont understand why anyone would want to digitize an analog vinyl record? Why not just play a CD? Please explain. Thanks
you'd have to hear it. Lowest noise floor ever.
Turntables should be set up as near to the ground as possible. Still belt drive Garrard or Thorens? Too many 'purists' like colorations
not in my apartment. Near to the "ground" is the top suspended floor of an old tenement. I have both belt drive and direct drive tables. You don't know me or what I like.

The hi fi buyer. ( consumer ) is an

Techniques ? or Technics.....! 😆
Every Item you have or talk about I have never heard of. This tells me all the HiFi outlets I frequent and online are not up there with the gear you own and talk about.....Australia sadly does not have the population and the hugh following of Hi End Hifi gear as the US UK and EU In saying that there are several boutique distributors but with the $ conversion and import frieght they are very prohibitive ,,,,,Great show.....
I guess most people haven't heard of this stuff, but Thorens is a legacy brand. if you're into hi end audio in the US you know this stuff. Thanks

Based solely on your review I bought Volti Rivals. No regrets.
Lucky man!
digitizing the phono input leads to an irremediable loss of information, there is a further loss on reconverting to analogue
analogue signals should stay in the analogue domain
so that technics is fatally flawed
Typical. you haven't even heard it. The worst kind of audio person who comments without hearing.

Its vinyl so it can't be hifi. Well, good components will help a bit but a needle is still scratching over a bunch of gouges in plastic. Try a CD or digital file.
Hilarious. Take that nonsense to a CD channel.
Nice. Thanks!
I lived in the Village through the 80s and 90s after I got out of Grad School and would still be there if I hadn’t married a California Girl. I had big Infinity speakers in my small apartment on Patchin Place.

I always find it hilarious to listen to these review "experts" describe how things sound. The more expensive the equipment, the more adjectives and verbs they string together to describe it's attributes. Where does one find "The Complete Thesaurus of Arbitrary and Subjective Terminology?" Asking for a budding audiophile.
It's kind of funny now I know that the equipment in other words stereo system have texture and color come on guys stop the BS and tell it like it is sounds good sounds good all these words like it's some kind of a living thing it's laughable I don't listen to any of these guys when they review Systems I go by my years and that's it some expensive stuff sound good and some sound bad and that's the way it is believe me I've been there and that's my humble opinion God bless
Some sound good some sound bad....reviewing your comment id say it lacks any texture or warmth.

No need for "measurements" to determine that: The hiss, wow, crackle, pop and inner groove fidelity loss can be heard by the naked ear.
