Always informative! I love those jigs as well. Years ago I used to buy those River 2 Sea football jigs that didn't have a weed guard and I added a hitch hiker just like the Trash Master to make them weedless. My hands like to cramp up on me so I find it easier to take off the hitch hiker, screw it in the bait then clip it back on the jig. Solid video brother! 👊💪
That is an excellent idea! I will be installing the screw locks into some trailers tonight. Labeling a new "Ready to Go Trailers" box in a few minutes. Will save me a lot of time and help me avoid that occasional poke from the hook. Thanks, TackleJunky81!

Changing that screw lock keeper out to one with a center pin would help a lot. The screws without a center pin are a pain in the ass, especially with oily baits.

Hank you know I love my jigs! I'm gonna have to get me some Trashmasters they look good! Have u ever tried taking the screwlock off to put it in then snap it on? just wondering if it would be easier? Bass Munitions sure has a lot of great looking stuff, I've gotta place an order over on Richard's site for sure. I will be sure to use your link brother!!
Question: when pulling a jig over a log, what's the best way to do so without catching it? I don't mean necessarily the round part of the log. I got caught up on a piece of log that used to have a branch or something, so it was kinda jagged. I tried to hop it over and even with weedguard it got stuck immediately. Luckily it was real close to the bank and I dislodged it with a tree branch.
So most of the time as you are dragging a jig over something you will feel it begin to get heavier. As soon as you notice that drop the rod tip and give it a quick upward jerk. Most of the time it will hop over the obstacle. I would also recommend fanning the weed guard instead of cutting it. Fan the weed guard side to side so that it becomes wide and flat. So even when it rolls over the weed guard will keep it from getting to the hook. Other than that you will lose jigs. It's just gonna happen.
Hank, still wish you were a trout fisherman and able to pass along all of your knowledge on those buggers, but love the vids man! Inland bass season will be open where I am soon enough, and I'll be armed! Great video!

I've been using this jig for abut a year now. I do like it. It's definitely more weedless. The hook still has a tendency to work through the plastic but not as badly as a flipping hook does. The business end pf the hook is like an EWG superline hook, but the point is a little more angled out. For this reason, I feel the need to bury the hook point in the plastic. This can result on missed strikes. I've set the hook hard on a fish before and not even gotten the hook through the plastic. I'm still using the first one I opened because it's that weedless.

Like to hear you explain weather around spawn. Got a full moon in couple days and you would think things are gonna heat up. But, got a tournament day or two after full moon and they are now predicting 30 degrees Saturday morning. Water temp was 67 yesterday and really scared fish are gonna get fickle. Do fronts effect them that much when it’s time for them to be on bed? Like your videos
Hi Bass Geek The docks we fish are suspended/floating . Is it best to let sink to the bottom or keep the bait higher in the water column during the post spawn? Great video.
I fish a lot of floating docks also and it really depends on the depth. If we are talking 8ft or less most of the time you can just let it sink. They will follow it down or hit it on the fall. They love to suspend in the post spawn so slow the fall with a bigger trailer or less weight. If you are over deeper water say 10ft or more just let it fall a few feet 5-10 and go on.
Man I'm fishing texoma lake in Oklahoma and I've been struggling lately catching fish I've jus not finding bites don't know if it's the depth I'm fishing in or what been fishing pretty shallow the last month and haven't done well at all. Any advice plz 🙏
What’s the water temps and have they spawned? There is a full moon on the 7th. So they maybe getting ready to move up. However if they are in the post it’s time to look deeper. Deeper grass lines deeper structure etc.
Fished there last weekend. I heard that Texoma has as many as 3-4 times when bass spawn on that lake. Seen a lot of monsters on beds but couldn’t entice any to bite. Caught a couple of 3 pounders on a spinner bait, and my partner caught a 4 ponder and a couple of 2 pounders on a pink worm of all things. Creeks, coves and boat docks were where we had our best luck. It was our first time fishing there and we will be back. Good luck!!
Hi BG. I just received my two jigs. Great video to enjoy. I loled at the center springs and was wondering what size. The large looked tow big. What size do u recomend? Thanks
Man I’ve just never been able to get it together with jigs I feel like I always miss bites. I always end up throwing a Texas rig instead. What circumstances in your expert opinion is a hard wired jig better than a Texas rig?
Shew easy with the "expert" part. LOL. If I'm around bigger fish that are feeding on bigger bait. Big gills, big shad, big craws. That's when I want it. Jigs will get fewer bites but they do get bigger bites. It's just something I have tied on all the time and the fish and I just let the bass tell me which they want.
I prefer a jointed shakey head jig this time of year because the ability to cover more water quickly and when you find some fish you can slow down and work the bait just like a jig except not get hung up near as often as compared to a fixed jig head. Strike king jointed jig head's are the go to search bait you can reel like a crankbait and work like a jig both, give it try you'll be shocked how many fish you catch, just remember when they hit it just keep reeling and roll into the strike with a smooth swing not a abrupt hook set as most fish will just load up on it instead of the more aggressive thump .
I like the tungsun swing head from Strike King a little better because you can pick the hook you want to use. It's a lot more diverse. Plus the jointed jig heads keep the line tie on the bottom and it roughs up the line and knot more than the strike king tungsten swing head. It's a football head which keeps the knot away from the rock or other bottom structure. The tungsten is much smaller if you are fishing say a 3/4 or 1oz deep and it transmits bottom contact so much better than lead.
what you're saying is true if you were using the bait strictly for a jig type situation where you're constantly working The jig on the bottom. I'm cranking The jig like a moving bait. Then only working the jig periodically when I find fish. I do agree the tungsten does have a better feel and I will consider putting a few of those in my tackle, but I haven't had any trouble out of the one's I'm using yet but I do see your point and it makes sense. I still like swimming my jointed jig it finds fish and is low pressure .
Typically a jointed jig head is meant to be pulled along the bottom and never stop reeling for the most part but for some of those guys out there that describes difficulty making a jig part of their arsenal, I would say you might try working a jointed jig head like a regular jig and see if you see a difference these jointed jigs have alot more action and they don't tend to get hung up in rocks nearly as much as a regular fixed jig does.
This isn't a wobble head. I love a wobble head or as you call it a jointed jig head but this jig is not that. I do agree that using a wobble head in place of a regular jig would be a great tool to learn.
Perfect timing again Hank. Im trying to teach myself to pitch or flip docks. My tournament partner is an ace and puts it 6 ft back with 6 inches or less of clearence. Cant figure if i like holding the bait and releasing or swinging it. Practicing on open water and trying to pick spots. I usually cast a jig and my set up is a 7 5" NRX with a Bantam mgl so hasnt been to forgiving for learning the dock pitch. Great video. Like the jig and will grab some for sure. Any tips on pitching from the Bass Geek? Whens my frickin t shirt get here Hank? U make those things in the Canary Islands? Lol!
i stand in my boat when i'm home and not fishing stand some concrete blocks up and put wood on top and flip under it the better i got at it i would lower the wood down a hole till i could get it way back took a lot of practice but it worked for me a roll pitch works better for me under docks than the swing pitch but practice a lot maybe that will help when i am not around my boat i use the tailgate of my truck and same blocks hope that helps some.

Once they are on the bed if a cold front comes no. If it comes before they are committed they will pull off and suspend.
Sort of my thought, thanks. Tournament I’m fishing Saturday is a USA next generation. Taking a friends 15 year old who is a stick
Great jig setup
It's killer.
New subscriber great video thanks man
Thanks! Welcome to BassGeekNation
Hi Bass Geek
The docks we fish are suspended/floating .
Thx BG!
How do you decide when to tip your bait with Chartreuse or Red etc
Shew that's a whole video in and of it's self. Simply If the gills are up shallow you see them Chartreuse if they are feeding on craws red or orange.
Gotta try some of these jigs
They sure are different. Almost 100% snag free.
BassGeek the bluegill color looked sweet
Man I'm fishing texoma lake in Oklahoma and I've been struggling lately catching fish I've jus not finding bites don't know if it's the depth I'm fishing in or what been fishing pretty shallow the last month and haven't done well at all. Any advice plz 🙏
What’s the water temps and have they spawned? There is a full moon on the 7th. So they maybe getting ready to move up. However if they are in the post it’s time to look deeper. Deeper grass lines deeper structure etc.
@@BassGeek it's 58 In the morning s some creeks are 64 to 65. Don't have grass. alot of rock and boat docks and we have all three species
Thanks
Cool I hope it helps and you like'em
good job putting trailer on. I would gotten bloody. just my style. LOL
Thanks!
Will pickerel in the winter months go for it????
Absolutely.
Where do u get the larger screw locks?
Land big fish has them. There is a link in the description of this video.
Yeah they have them
Thanks for that info
Man I’ve just never been able to get it together with jigs I feel like I always miss bites. I always end up throwing a Texas rig instead.
What circumstances in your expert opinion is a hard wired jig better than a Texas rig?
Shew easy with the "expert" part. LOL. If I'm around bigger fish that are feeding on bigger bait. Big gills, big shad, big craws. That's when I want it. Jigs will get fewer bites but they do get bigger bites. It's just something I have tied on all the time and the fish and I just let the bass tell me which they want.
Daniel Mcnish I usually feel a tink from the bass on a jig then miss by the time I swing.
BassGeek thanks brother
What size screw locks do you switch to?
The owner Mediums or larges. There is a link in the description of the video.
Great Review Steve Parks is the man
YES HE IS! Thank you.
Nice tutorial!
Thank you very much.
Awesome Video. Definitely going to give these a try. What size jig would you recommend?
From a boat I'm a 3/8 1/2oz guy but from the bank 1/4 or 3/8. I'm not sure they make the 1/4 however.
I’ve got a few myself. Last count was 35. 👍🏻 My Fav. Is PB&J.
DANG BRO! Noice.
Bass geek milt here what is the name of the weed less gaurd jig and what sige do you use.
It’s a trash master
Lol!
hahahaha You know that's one video I don't think I've ever done is a pitching video. I need to. LOL Covid man . lol
i stand in my boat when i'm home and not fishing stand some concrete blocks up and put wood on top and flip under it the better i got at it i would lower the wood down a hole till i could get it way back took a lot of practice but it worked for me a roll pitch works better for me under docks than the swing pitch but practice a lot maybe that will help when i am not around my boat i use the tailgate of my truck and same blocks hope that helps some.
Are you matching trailer to jig color
Most of the time. I also like to miss match. Give'em something just a little different.
