Hey Baitman, it’s amazing I just got a notice to watch this, and I liked it 3 years ago 😂😂 I remember first following you at 900 subs man time flies and fishing has quadrupled in the past 5 years…. Still good stuff and video 😜👏👏👏
I can vouch for the hog farmer 100%. Gives excellent action and the bill is perfect. And it has a dang good hook on it as well. I run a 5" jerky j on it and have caught giants. I would like to try the others you mentioned here too. Thanks for the vid!
Thank you for the great videos. Really appreciate it and glad your close to home which gives me more confidence in trying new stuff to me out on the same lake. Have a good 4th. Your channel should be at least at 100k subs for real.
Great video. I need some help. I live here on the west coast and fish the Delta a ton. The delta has a lot of subsurface vegetation and we typically fish braid on the river. I've been having a problem with my braid twisting to the point I have to strip the line off. I checked the bill and the bait and it runs straight. What am I doing wrong?
My dad told me he used to fish the scrounger jig heads back in the 70s for stripers , not a recent release of the platform. I just don't think alot of people use them, they have led me to some bass tournament purse winnings though
Hey, I just realized that you are Tackle Freaks, and I've bought from your company, and I think Alex Rudd may have link Tackle Freaks on one of his UA-cam videos. I'm on my way to Kentucky tomorrow from Raleigh NC. I'll definitely place an order when I get to my brothers, so I can use it on Ky Lake next week. Thanks again for your chAnnel, I just watch your vid from ICAST ...2018 🎣🎣🎣. Will from Raleigh
@@TheBaitmanTV I’m new to the scrounger and this will help me get started. I’ll likely begin on the lighter tackle presentations, do you have a preference on one style of jig and plastic for something in a half ounce or less or finesse set up? Thanks again!
Yeah. I have learned since this video that lighter line is the way to go. 12-14lb fluoro. Parabolic Rod as well! I personally like the hog farmer and Picasso the best. Spunk Shad and Jerky J
Just a helpful tip, super glue is hydroscopic. So it needs moisture to cure. After you glue it, give it a quick dip in the water and it will cure almost instantly.
I will be back on Ky Lake with my brother, who has a home on Malcolm creek. I bought a couple of dozen scroungerheads on eBay last winter LuckE Strike I didn't know, but got them on auction and cheap. 😂😂😂
Awesome video brother!! You should post some kits as Christmas presents that contains everything heads, bodies, glue so forth. $75-100 ledgelocker box that contains everything for ledge Fishing like spoons jigs crankbaits scrongers
Hey baitman just subscribed to your channel, great info. I did have a question I notice that my scrounger head with a jerky J wants to spin around and around twisting my line instead of wobble, what am I doing wrong?
Hey kevin great video! I have never used this technique and wondered what other techniques would you say are similar to fishing a scrounge head? Thx and enjoy the 4th!
I have photos of me with giant white seabass I caught at the mouth of sanqinten bay in mexico on the original scrounger bach in the early 80s that had been around long before that
Blade minnow doesn’t have the same action as a fluke. Not does a Zako. Neither really have much action, actually. They’re great chatter bait trailers. It would be hard to thread the blade minnow on a scounger. But definitely experiment and try. 👊
@@TheBaitmanTV well I’m just brain storming. If the scrounger is like a chatterbait with a soft blade it just seems to make sense that a chatterbait trailer would be best. I’ve used flukes on scrounger a but haven’t tried the others. Seems like the scrounger blade produces more toll where a chatterbait produces more shake. Shake is better for jointed soft baits and straight tails are better for the roll.
What do you think about the Zman 7 in fluke type bait? It doesn’t seem to tear as easily to me because of the elastec material but still has decent action. What are your pros and cons?
Scott Smith first thanks for subscribing. It is a great cold water technique. I’ll go with light lime and 1/4-3/8 oz. heads with a super fluke jr or the small jerky j on the back. Super slow roll around deep bridge pilings, points, or around suspended balls of bait
That 7 foot 3 pitching rod is the one I'm most interested in out of the non AGS lineup but I've been waiting for a review on it, how sensitive is it how light is it what's the balance like I made Iowa guy and mainly use Steez SV and steez AGS rods but something about that shorter pitching Rod piques my interest and I would like to know more about it
It’s really versatile. I can’t wait for the new 76MH. It’s sensitive and balanced well. And too be quite honest I’ve used that 99.99 Diego on it and am SV and either reel Feels great.

It’s funny that this is just now becoming popular because of Jason winning on Kentucky lake this year, cause I’ve been throwing it since jerky j first came out with it... all these heads are inconsistent. I like it on just a zman chatterbait pull off the skirt and your good to go. Just be sure to glue the plastic. That zman chatterbait shakes way harder than these plastic bill lead heads. FYI guys trying this technique it only works for schooling bass chasing Shad. You might catch some just throwing it down the bank or off points but it shines best when they are chasing shad
The scrounger is also designed to be a subtle presentation. It is not designed to thump like a chatterbait. Apples to Oranges. Its been popular 3-4 years now..if not longer. But it has certainly become household tackle talk due to the success on the TN River
TheBaitmanTV didn’t say you couldn’t catch a individual fish... I just said it shines when fish are on ledges chasing shad. 3-4 years ago I could buy them on TW and at my local tackle shop, actually they were at a discount cause they were not popular. Now in the last year, sold out everywhere!

Make sure it’s perfectly straight. Use a slow reel. What model scrounger are you using
I am using a 7:1 but i do reel it slow. I am using the scrounger brand in 1/2 oz because I did not know about the others until this video.
Hey kevin great video! I have never used this technique and wondered what other techniques would you say are similar to fishing a scrounge head? Thx and enjoy the 4th!
Swimbaiting..Chatterbait Fishing. Using a 3/4-1oz chatterbait or heavier out deep is very similar. Problem is most lift hard to keep on bottom
Great stuff man!!
Great video Kevin. They say Jason does something to the scrounger bill to get more action. Any idea?
As far as I know nothing. We have talked about it on the phone quite a bit. He has all his custom made
He told me it was the material his bill is made of. He said the brown color plastic is best which is also what is on the old ones that you can't find.
