Sun Tzu said that! And I'd say he knows a little more about it than you do pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that nobody could best him in the ring of groove.
LOVE how he is draggin that beat behind him! I assumed it was gonna be how "bad" it is with a wonky feel...but this is the type of wonk that GROOVES...aahhhhhhhhhhh
The snare is actually ahead of the beat - creating the illusion that everything else is behind the beat and dragging. Very cool effect. He hits that specialty cymbal on the beat right after the snare to create an echo effect which is super cool.
Every time I see a song uploaded on this channel I stop what I’m doing. Love the harmonizing bass! I had to stop and listen to it a couple more times I’ve always wondered how difficult it is to play drums behind the beat like that. This sounds like something on a 90s hip hop record!
Yeah! Istanbul Agop Clap Stack. But you can get really close by stacking 3 or more thin cymbals bell within bell. Definitely takes some experimentation to find ones that fit together well. But the Agop clap stack is way too expensive for what it is. There are also very similar products from other companies like the Versa Stack by Stack Ring Percussion or the Clap Boom Stack by Pergamon which is another Turkish set just like the Agops but more reasonably priced.
@@trevorcousins I mean in this instance he is just delaying the hihat, subdividing is one way of acheiving that feel, but I would naturally just feel it

He's so far behind the beat I'm gonna hear this tomorrow.
All jokes aside, it takes a _lot_ of skill to make that sound so good.
Oh damn, there's a beat?
funny cuz he's ahead
How do you hear this and think he's behind lol? He's so far ahead I head this last week
He's either so behind that he's almost caught up to the next beat, or so ahead he's still dragging behind to the previous.

Dude! LoPassing the band during the bass solo works soooo well! What a cool trick!

I play like this sometimes but never on purpose
Well that's not true, because you cant play something that requires intention... without intention.... Paradox... i.e you're chatting shit lol

i love when the bass has a backup bass
That b6 slide thing is cool as heck, def gonna use that
The best ride cymbal sound I've ever heard in my life
its not really a ride cymbal.. but if you like that kinda stuff you should definitely check out "one more red nightmare" by king crimson
I'm writing this comment during the bass solo
I literally began scrolling the comments during the bass solo
When the bassist also has that thicc tone, tho
Come for the rhythm, stay for the lead bass.

Man hes so far behind that you can almost pick and choose how you feel it. Wonky seems apt though :)
This is legit.
Man, that breakdown did something to me... I mean, stank face and ERTHANG!
Love it, all of it!
This is a sweet backing track
Boom Bap. Boom Boom Bap.
Wonderful. Thanks.
That is one stanky groove, Adam. It's great to hear and see you play. I guess you'll be in Chicago in the near future, and we will see you there.
This is some extremely high precision wonk.
Aw man that's that true funk. Loved how it floated a bit but still found times to lock in.
I would go as far as calling this refreshing. Very interesting for the ears. Off But not disconcertingly. He has a real authenticity to it.

I think he did in a video about Swing Percentages? Or was that Andrew Huang? It's half-swung aka drunk feel aka Dilla beats

I wonder if the Adam Neely 2 channel gets UA-cam video recommendations of the Adam Neely channel and vice versa.
