Dirk, this knife could be referred to as a "caping" or caper knife and is not restricted to just processing birds or small game. Small, scalpel-like knives are one of those important knives a hunter would carry in his kit along with a boning and skinning knife used in processing large game. This "caper" is typically used to make surgical, precise cuts (like the Havalon Piranta) where a larger blade would be more cumbersome. For example, I would use this knife typically to remove the ears off of hogs, make the opening cuts to start the skinning process, even remove the hams and find the ball joints (after skinning) and make that precise, shallow cut to allow removing the insides. Additionally, that gimping just behind the tip on the spine allows you to be even more precise as the knife feels like an extension of your finger. While it is possible to process large game with just one knife, most hunters I know carry a skinning, boning and caping knife (like this Benchmade Flyway). Personally, I carry the Kershaw Deschutes Caper which does the same job at just $47 on Amazon! 'Hope this helps?
This would work for any game tbh . I haven’t hunted small game in years but this knife would fit the bill . Them big bucks have to look out tho …and they do 😂. They’re so cautious of all the animals in Ohio older male deer usually can only be seen after 2 am or early morning . There’s some really big ones I have on camera . I ll send u a pic of who I’m after this year .
have had a few benchmade knives and have found them to be more toy like than a tool. they seem to aim their knives at city soy boys than the true outdoorsman. definitely overpriced but the soy boys have plenty of cash so its a win i suppose👍

A very nice small fixed blade. I could see that being very versatile. Great video 👍
That is cool . I like how the sheath has a slight angle for a front pocket or back pocket or an awesome neck knife 👍👍.
Agreed
Might not give enough retention as a neck knife though. Not sure.
I think it would be the perfect knife for fishing 🎣
That’s what I was thinking too.
Top heavy for a neck knife flips down. Metal belt or pocket clip can be installed for pocket
Carry.
Nice knife. But for the money I think I’d go with the Smith & Sons Shoal instead. Similar size with AEBL steel and $155
Agreed. The money BM wants these days is a bit….much 🤷🏼♂️
Love the NCIS reference. IYKYK.
Thanks
I'd process a whole deer with that for sure. Cool knife thanks for the video.
For sure thanks for watching

Got the pic. That’s awesome.
Looks like a nice blade design. Too pricey $180 - $200for a CPM-154 blade, maybe if it was Magnacut.
Absolutely agree.

You really pay for that butterfly! Way overpriced! The Rainier knives fastpak is a better deal... or white river backpacker
$140 and $150 vs $180? That’s not that big of a difference to me
I agree they are a bit overpriced and I was actually looking into white river but benchmades life sharp program is amazing. That sold it for me.
