      So glad I found this channel a few weeks ago. It's so refreshing after listening to Chicago sports radio ridiculousness all day. Rational thought is precious. I recommend you to all my Bears friends that are as hardcore as I am to do the research. I projected Darnell as our first rounder last year. Ate a bunch of crap. Doesn't help im a girl. This channel makes me feel seen . I just have to keep reminding myself "In Poles I Trust' and not worry about it

    This is a well-thought-out analysis but you cannot compare a junior in college and hold him to the same standard as a veteran going into his 4th year. A more fair analysis would be to do a side-by-side comparison of Caleb and Justin in their last year as a college player. Considering the team around both of them and what they were being asked to do. Did they even play in the same style of offense?

    • @nicks4021

      Caleb had 1,100 passing attempts in 37 games. Justin had 618 (579 as a starter in 22 games) in 34 total games. Mitch Trubisky btw had 579 yikes. I don't know why we should be even comparing them as prospects. Caleb is far more refined and experienced as a thrower and he's had to do with weaker talent comparatively. I was in love with Justin's traits, just like i am now with Caleb's but I knew he was gonna need that year to sit, he was still a massive project but there wasn't a throw he couldn't make. So it was all about how much could we keep Dalton out there but that was that. This game is all about reps and experience.

    Swifty when you watch film on Drake Maye, one of the things that impresses me the most is how he manipulates the secondary with his eyes, it wasn't just that he was going thru his progressions either, there was definately purpose to it. He did it on alot of occasions as well. There is alot I like about his game but that stood out. Look forward to the videos on him and JD. Keep up the great work bro!!!

Fields showed with limited talent added his play got better. Imagine adding 2 1st round picks and a few 2nd round 3rd round picks what the bears will be? Bear down!❤❤❤

    Swift seems to be obsessed with comparing Caleb with Manning, Burrow, and Luck. He doesn't have to be those guys, he just has to be better than Justin Fields.
    That's the point that Justin Fields extremists seem to NOT UNDERSTAND. Caleb isn't replacing Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck, he's replacing Fields and the bar is low.
    Guys like Lawrence, Bryce Young, and Justin Fields played on college teams that were stacked so comparing QBs in college is difficult. The precise reason why Fields has struggled in the NFL and why Trevor hasnt lived up to his hype is because they played on college teams that were far superior to their competition. They never experienced a skill gap or saw adversity until the NFL and they havent adjusted yet.

    Nice Job Swifty! The only Caleb char question s/b if he loves football, ie 1st to arrive, last to leave like Justin. The other stuff doesn't matter; just what he does on the field. Also does your assessment consider how much better/deeper USC WRs & TEs were vs USC opponents' DBs? It a massive gap; check out any of the college scouting sites. The best Pac12 Pass D he faced was Oregon, #62 in FBS and 5 of the worst 15 in FBS. Films show USC receivers were constantly wide open (except ND game). Only the people who haven't done any research are blindly into Williams without some considerable reservations.

    If you say you've watched every snap of Caleb Williams and one of your takeaways is that he "Hasn't shown an ability to operate on time within the structure of an offense" then I have extreme reservations with whatever grading criteria you're using. The structure and timing plays are littered throughout his tape and his quick release will translate much faster to the NFL than Justin's has and he's spent 3 years trying to clean his hitch up.

    • @SwiftSportsNetwork

      @@SwiftSportsNetwork I would say I have seen plenty of both. As a USC fan I know I watched games knowing that CW would often have to create outside of the offense because the line was so bad. @@SwiftSportsNetwork what i took away from the hero ball and holding onto the ball was not that they were inherent issues. the defense was giving up 35 points a game. no weapons or talent around him to speak of. you saw him play on time, getting the ball out quickly, and going through his progressions when he didn't feel that he had to be superman. whereas justin had one of the best surrounding casts in college football and these issues showed up much more frequently. caleb's pocket presence is where he separates himself to me. he has that rare ability to sense pressure and know when to bail from a pocket and when not to. keeps his eyes downfield and doesn't panic when the play breaks down which is a trait that all of the elite qb's have.

    His arm talent, his quick release, his wide range of off platform throws at different angles it’s right there with Patrick Mahomes. Can you throw his left hand? I don’t know, does it matter? So you combine the skills of Patrick Mahomes with the twitchy running ability of Justin Fields. Caleb Williams is actually a little bit quicker and harder to tackle even though he might not be as fast as Justin, he certainly is twitchy quick and hard to bring down because he’s not built like a quarterback, he’s built like a running back. And being 4.5 speed isn’t exactly slow, we just hope he’s not running as often as Justin but making throws as he steps up into the pocket more often and keep his eyes down Field without missing wide open targets. The more I see the more I like, and I don’t have any negative feelings about him at all… And I think he can adapt to the NFL as quickly as CJ Stroud, Dak Prescott or Ben Roethlisberger as they had winning seasons their rookie year since they were set up with a really good team in the first year of their NFL careers. He looks like he can run the offense very quickly. Play within the structure of the offense and it’s obvious he has the ability to make something out of nothing. His fundamentals are very consistent, his footwork is also delivered and consistent. And his ability to throw in the opposite direction as he goes full speed whether the left or to the right of the field is something he can do quite easily. I hope the offensive linestays above average so he doesn’t get hurt too soon.

  • @NickkaDUB

    Swift.. Swift. C’mon dude.
    His ability to recognize the blitz and maneuver in the pocket is what makes him great.
    His arm talent and release is what separates him from everyone.
    He plays in structure just fine and the way you can tell is his hitches match the routes being ran. That’s the big difference in him holding the ball. Justin is the one who’s holding the ball and his hitches aren’t matching the routes and reads. They’re not on time and that’s why he always has to bail. Then when he does he doesn’t keep his eyes downfield to throw.
    You better go watch again, Son.
    The way he moves in the pocket is elite. Phil was right when he said it’s just like Marino.
    Yeah you’ve watched some Bears tape and you’re learning, but I don’t think you have watched enough of the other QBs who make things easier on themselves. I’m not impressed by many QBs. I’m not even very impressed by Mahomes, but I am with Caleb.
    Do yourself a favor and watch The Tape Never Lies patron tape on Caleb. Watch the QB School. To say Caleb isn’t leading guys or throwing them open shows you don’t know what you’re watching. Are you sure you’re not talking about Justin?? That’s what I’ve always seen from him. That’s what everyone else sees and why everyone plays zone against him.

    • @SwiftSportsNetwork
      @SwiftSportsNetwork  3 місяці тому

      I think you missed my point here, Son.
      The way he maneuvers in the pocket has NOTHING to do with his ability to recognize pre-snap blitzers and make adjustments.
      I called his pocket presence and ability to maneuver in the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield SPECIAL and compared it Aaron Rodgers.
      My man no way you just said you aren't impressed by Patrick Mahomes but ARE by Caleb.
      COME ON MAN, I am SAVING this comment lmao. Thank you

    • @NickkaDUB
      @NickkaDUB 3 місяці тому

      @@SwiftSportsNetwork Swift being able to recognize the blitz and where the pressure IS what is special. He’s ALWAYS moving to where the pressure came from. That’s exactly what you want and what gives you the most time. I’m not talking about what you guys call hero ball. Hero ball is off a bad snap throwing up a prayer. I’m talking about staying in structure and buying yourself more time because the pocket collapses from the left and he steps up into where they just came from. NOT completely scrambling out of the pocket. He’s good at that too, but that’s not what I’m referring to.
      The son comment was because you’re a good bit younger. Not demeaning. You’ve always kept the arguments to the arguments so I’ll keep it respectful with you.
      Yes, save the comment. Mahomes still has a very long career ahead of him, God willing he stays healthy. I don’t think he’s near the best ever like a lot of people think he is. He’s had some great players around him. Look at Tua. He’s no longer a bust because of Tyreek (and Waddle).
      It’s a team sport and Mahomes isn’t the best ever. We have a long way to go for that. He’s pretty good, but go back and watch how open his receivers have been. Every game for him is like Washington this year for Justin. Every week when I watch the Chiefs, I think how are they always this wide open. I don’t like to think the games are fixed, but why do so many teams let Kelce run free? Yeah he’s big, but you bracket guys like that. You know he’s their favorite target. Seriously man. He’s not hitting tight windows very often.
      I’m sure you see it and feel it too. We struggle just for first downs, but Mahomes is always throwing to a wide open receiver. He has a really good release, but he doesn’t have to rely on it as much as most of the other QBs.
      I still remember when he looked worse than Mitch in that Super Bowl when he actually had to face real pressure and didn’t have guys wide open. He was bad.
      Sorry, I’m getting too off topic with Mahomes. I’ve seen better QBs do it longer with a lot less. Caleb reminds me of those guys more. I don’t like the comparison between him and Mahomes. You hear guys like me saying he’s the best to come out since Luck or Manning. Mahomes isn’t in that conversation. Nobody thought Mahomes would be where he is now.

Maybe but Kevin is not a person to do that, he really likes Justin, he even went to Justin’s graduation at Ohio State & had a great relationship in the big-10 🤔🤔🤔

    swifty, I watched your video and it was well done. I'm left with the same question at the end though. Is caleb williams an upgrade over Justin Fields (like Alt would be over Jones) and the answer is no. the Bears would have to wait for his development which would basically set them 2 years back of where they are now.

      Justin Fields survived the horrible dysfunction of Da Bears staff. He learned two systems and will learn this new system of Shane who is Elite. Tyson Bagent learned this system well playing for Justin during his throwing hand injury earning his 2 - 2 record! Tyson defeated Fields in record but remains QB2 because all rookies need time to grow. Jordan Love is in his fourth year and got into the playoffs. Da Bears will get into the playoffs and take the North in 2024. Tyson Bagent might even help out again. 🐻⬇️🧆🏝️

    I usually agree with you about most things. Although I don't have the high expectations for Caleb that some do. But by no means did I see the negative things that you saw. I didn't see one read offense. I'm not sure they could get away with that at the college level. He threw with way more anticipation than Fields did in college. They have some similarities but they aren't the same. I don't know what will happen but they have to get it right.

    Where did you come up with 31 fumbles?
    I see someone on Twitter said Caleb had 31 fumbles, and that stat keeps getting re-posted over and over.
    Yet I have found NOTHING showing it to be true.
    This is what I keep finding:
    Caleb Williams had 17 fumbles in 3 years of college ball - 5 of those were turnovers - lost to the other team.
    In comparison:
    Justin Fields had 12 fumbles in college - 5 of those were turnovers.
    Drake Maye had 12 fumbles in college - 7 of those were turnovers.
    Jayden Daniels had 11 fumbles in college - 6 of those were turnovers.
    JJ McCarthy had 12 fumbles in college - 1 of those were turnovers.
    Michael Penix had 4 fumbles in college - 1 of those were turnovers.

    Hey Swifty, big fan, a thing no one is talking about the Fields trade is this. Yes, they may have been able to get a better trade for him but is that true. A 6th round pick next year is like a 7th round pick this year. Most of us have faith in Justin including Poles. So, if he was offered a 6th this year or even a 5th both scenarios would be better than next year's 6th. However, when Justin gets into that building and starts playing for that team, then we all believe he could end up starting! Therefore, what if Poles thinks the same thing, and says I can't get a conditional pick for this year, and for Fields we really want at least a 4th. Therefore, he trades him to PIT knowing that Justin could thrive there and gets the 4th Round Pick or higher he wanted, while keeping his word to do right by Justin, and sending Justin to somewhere that he will despite reports compete to start. This allows Poles to finish what he's doing with the team this year and give us more draft capital next year!

    Watched 30 All22. Dude was 50/50 playing on time. Does anticipate throws for a QB in a Air raid system. He is better than Justin Fields at moving in the pocket to create time. Since Kingsbury wasnt the USC OC why would Williams be better in Washington? Sam Howell was an Air raid system qb

    • @SwiftSportsNetwork
      @SwiftSportsNetwork  3 місяці тому

      I agree with the movement in the pocket. I tend to disagree on the anticipation throws unless you mean on ONE read plays. Ehh. Tough one to see how it translates to the NFL.

    The narrative of him having a down year needs to be cleaned up.
    He played two fewer games last year, which makes up for the difference in passing stat #’s. His comp% & passer rating increased.
    USC averaged the same ppg, Red Zone Td% same.
    Fumbles were up, this and any apprehension on his height are the only legit red flags.
    Painting his nails? He wrote F*ck ND on them = dawg.

    I started watching a bit here and there but not nearly as much as you did for this video (half hour here, twenty minutes there..maybe 3-4 hours total?) and Yeah, I've seen the same positives and negatives. My biggest concern with him is that he may end up needing 2-3 years to actually adjust to the NFL game given his college experience and playing out of the gun with that single read offense. I doubt the Bears give Flus 2-3 more years, and I feel like we'd just be repeating our usual pattern if we take him. It will mean multiple coaches, multiple OC's, and fans clamoring to trade him by the 2026 draft....I feel like his eventual ceiling might be insanely high, IF he goes to the right team. I don't feel the Bears are that team because they can't afford the same patience with him and the coaches to give him any real stability. He may be best off with the Commanders tbh.

    I don't expect Poles to be swayed by the media hype, either for or against. Personally, if Poles isn't offered a haul to trade down, I think he'll draft Caleb. However, I don't see that requiring him to trade Fields before the draft. Why not bring in Caleb to backup Fields? Give him time to adjust to the NFL, learn, and work on his weaknesses. Fields has already proven he's a pro and I think he can handle this situation. Plus, Fields can be traded later if that ends up needing to be the decision by the org.

  • @RichardSmith-xc3vl
    @RichardSmith-xc3vl 3 місяці тому

    It's pretty simple to me, if the Bears take Williams, they give up on MHJ and JF1 and they also give up the probability of 2 number 1 picks again in 2025 which if we allow Williams to go to another Carolina situation could result in another top 5 pick. DJ Moore and JF1 are the real deal and a legitimate 2nd option or 1A, 1B, makes the Bears dangerous. I believe with the right moves, the Bears can contend this year with the team they have now and the proper additions but drafting a rookie quarterback will definitely set us back. If the Bears had done the right thing when they drafted JF1 we wouldn't be having this conversation because at some point JF1 is going to silence all the critics.
