  • In this video, I give my scouting report for USC QB Caleb Williams, who is my #2 QB in the 2024 NFL Draft. Williams would've been the highest graded player in the any of the last 3 drafts, but I do have the former Heisman winner barely behind Drake Maye (as of now).

    Caleb vs ASU:
    322 yds
    3:0 TD/INT
    2 rush TDs
    Caleb vs COL:
    403 yds
    6:1 TD/INT
    Idk if that classifies as a couple of bad games
    P.S. i will also be curious to see how much hero ball CW plays considering he wont have to put up like 45 pts/gm just to MAYBE win

    Caleb was playing too much hero ball last season. Caleb knew the offense had to score big because of the defense.

    Is Caleb Williams personality and mental toughness going to affect him at the next level though ? We know he can ball on the field but the mentality to play qb in Chicago is what I worry about. And his processing. Is his level of processing a worry to you? That fields biggest weakness imo. Jus wondering ur opinion if u have one on that

    Excellent video, your film study and explanation is definitely on point. Kyler Murray comp is accurate. As a Broncos fan potentially looking for a QB in the draft, a Jayden Daniels video would be great. He’s my top QB, but granted, I have not seen much of Drake Maye.
    I will agree with you on Caleb Williams not being the top QB in this year’s class. In my opinion, he sits way too long in the pocket and the majority of his highlights are improvising. I have concerns with Caleb’s lack of consistency from within the pocket. However, I will say a team like the Commanders could be a nice fit for Caleb. They have many talented playmakers and he could excel outside the pocket with Washington’s poor o-line and be coached by Eric Bienemy. What do you think?

    • @AtoZSportsFilmRoom
      @AtoZSportsFilmRoom  5 місяців тому +1

      Jayden Daniels will be coming soon, stay tuned. Williams to WSH would be an interesting fit for sure, but I could see it working. WSH's situation with Howell is a weird one, I thought he was their guy halfway through this year, but now obviously things have changed.

    I don’t think his build is that slight. His clavicles aren’t that narrow and his calves are almost disproportionately big which tends to hint at good hypertrophic genetics. He can definitely put more muscle on his frame as compared to someone like Bryce young. And he definitely plays strong, hard to bring down and is durable enough to sprint downfield, throw lead blocks and jog to the huddle unphased the next play.
    I think he’ll be a surprisingly good dual threat at the next level

    Scary thing is even as I watched him as a bears fan working at usc is although his splash plays and ability is amazing he has some inconsistency and reminds me a lot of Zach Wilson.. He is better than Zach don’t get me wrong but his inconsistency of the structured plays and routes scares me . Zach had the same wow and struggle tho not at Caleb level the similarities give me pause..

    Alright, tough question and one begging for you to make a video on...Caleb Williams vs Justin Fields. Which QB should the Bears go with in your opinion? I would think this would be a exceptionally well viewed video.

    • @AtoZSportsFilmRoom
      @AtoZSportsFilmRoom  5 місяців тому +3

      I would say that the Bears would have to go Williams if it was one or the other. Give Fields a fresh start somewhere else and cut your losses with him (he wasn't the only issue obviously). Gotta get some help either way though around him

    • @14cole19
      @14cole19 3 місяці тому

      One comparison I absolutely hate is the CW = JF1
      Yes, they both hold onto the ball for a long time. But Caleb's scramble-run% is around 3%. Whereas JF1 has around 9%. Also CW reads the Field far better and has a much quicker release and better arm tallent.
      JF1 doesnt suck but I hate the direct comparison

    • @99subetai

      @@AtoZSportsFilmRoom The advantages to keeping Fields and trading the top pick would be...yet another draft haul. People forget just HOW bad the Bears roster was a year ago. The roster has improved, but there are still plenty of holes on it that could be filled with a trade down.
      With Caleb Williams he HAS to be a great player or you took the wrong option. With a trade down, you have a larger margin for error imo. The best teams generally make the most draft picks. Some of those picks will pan out, some won't. But the volume of picks they make will make up for it. This was Dallas in the 90s and Patriots in the early 2000s.
      I tend to think any QB will struggle unless the supporting cast around him is also good. Fields reads the defense slower than he should and never loved his throwing mechanics, but he also had about as bad a supporting cast as you can get his first two years.

    2:50 if anyone watch Justin Fields highlights the second half of 2023 season, you can see that he does EXACTLY the same things. In 2022 he did not look down the field to find someone open but now he does all the time. I think that is his greatest jump to the NFL level. How many times have you seen QBs roll out and then find someone open. Rodgers, Mahomes, Jackson. All the time!! They keep their eyes down field as they are running from defenders with the thought of passing first, run second. Fields found open guys a lot in the game against the Falcons. A defense ranked top 10
