The one I remember recently was Zach Wilson - who roomed with Merril's son at BYU. Merril was interviewed on the radio and he said a couple of nice things about Zach, but then he said something like this..."the only thing you could say that's a concern is that when Zach played against better competition, he didn't play well." To me, as far as grading a prospect for the NFL, that's the most important thing! I don't agree with DJ when he said that they aren't comparing Caleb Williams to Patrick Mahomes now, they're comparing him to Patrick Mahomes coming out of Texas Tech. Um, no you're not, you've been comparing him to Patrick Mahomes now. You've been assuming that he's going to be Patrick Mahomes because of the traits you see on tape, which is fine, but no one thought Mahomes was going to do what he is doing right now. If they did, he would have gone first overall. The question people have to ask themselves, would Mahomes be doing the same things if he didn't have Andy Reid as his HC? I think he would still be great because he has the "It" factor, but he probably wouldn't have 3 rings. There's no guarantee Caleb's getting his Andy Reid or Bill Belichick. KC and New England hit lightning in a bottle with their HC and QB combos. That's why I feel some people need to pump the breaks on the Mahomes comparisons. Last year it was Bryce Young and then every other QB, this year it's Caleb WIlliams and then every other QB. If I'm a QB prospect and I'm regarded as the best QB in the draft class, I would rather go 2nd or 3rd overall with a better fit with the coaching staff than go first overall only because people think that's where I should go. But that's just my feelings about it.

When was the last time Hoge got significant air time? Kinda tells me everything I need to know. He shot his shot with an unpopular opinion, hoping that if he is right he can parlay it into a ticket back into relevance.

The biggest knock to me on Caleb is he’s not a leader , he has a me mentality

How when all of his old teammates coaches and ppl around the program saying that’s absolutely not true. Rices son said he had to elevate his practice habits bc Caleb held him accountable and wouldn’t throw him the ball if he didn’t run every route hard.Did twitter tell you that ? 🐑

That's why a lot of us in Chicago respect Justin so much and would like him to stay. All the bs from the media, all the non stop criticism, and the kid just puts his head down and goes to work. He leads his team, as all Bears players have stated... He's the leader in the locker room. Caleb doesn't give me the impression that he will be able to handle the pressure of succeeding as a Chicago bears QB, and I honestly think our media and fans will eat him alive.

People like Justin Fields as a person and want to root for him. Inaccurate NFL qb rarely become accurate nfl QBs. His numbers are similar to Zach Wilson except he has running highlights. That is not a guy who can lead you to a super bowl. If you don’t think that is who Fields is then get another qb. The goal is super bowl, not 1st round playoff losses.

Refute means to "prove" false - as in "refute an argument." The word of late has been misused ramapantly as a synonym of "rebut" or "dispute" (no doubt due to contagion via the UA-cam Feedback Loop).
    The RES should hire writers.

Bears just need to trade the pick. Build around Justin and stay the course. The pick is a blessing and let's not make it complicated, and trade it. I'm a Giants fan but I watch all the games, and I saw the Bears heading in the right direction.

Comparing how one QB performed in College vs how another QB performed in the NFL is wild.
Bears are gonna trade Fields for a 2nd and a 5th tho.

Prospect is the operative word! JF hasn’t had the developmental opportunity with the Bears. The Bears/Browns probably have had the most qbs in league history. JF can be the guy

Keep Justin, and draft Caleb, let them compete for the starting job. Trade the guy who loses out. I know it’s highly unconventional, but this franchise cannot afford to make the wrong decision, here. Granted, if Caleb gets beaten out for QB1, his trade value will be significantly lower than that number 1 pick overall is. Idk, I’ve got my doubts about both of them
