Now that is a great idea...with the larger 40mm case & uprated Sellita 300 movement of course. I own two CW's - my daily workhorse, the C60 Chrono 600 & the Verde Bel Canto - & I'd make it the CW holy trinity if they make that happen.
This is superb. Nice to see a no-date option from CW. I would like to see this same configuration with a plain black and white dial, which I feel would have broader appeal.
CW, as a premium microbrand, needs to standardize on the SW300 series to differentiate themselves from the "Seiko-levels of accuracy" and the less-premium microbrands.
I received mine yesterday, three days earlier than what was promised. The dial really comes to life in natural sun light, I am totally satisfied with the watch. I have to say I haven't worn a 36mm in awhile and it definitely feels on the small side and I have a 6 1/2 inch wrist. Great review!
Loved how you have Starry Night in the background for a ‘galaxy dial’ that clearly takes its inspiration from the night sky. Nice artistic touch, Bruce!
I own a 39mm Sealander which is a 1st gen white dial, so has the Chis Ward name on the dial but much prefer the twin flags on this one. Does have the light catcher case which is great but I love the polish on the indices myself (this never seems to get a mention for some reason). The Consort bracelet seems like a winner though and may consider this in the future. Your bang on with the brand going from strength to strength though, and at a price point that is extremely competitive. 😁
I wish they lumed the hour markers to match the hands, or conversely did not lume the hands. It just looks weird being half lumed. I think the 36mm size is perfect. Watches are trending smaller, and the 36mm size is wearable by anyone. But I’d be fine if they offered a 39mm size as well for those who prefer a larger watch. Also should have charged a bit more and used the SW-300. They use the SW-200 in just about everything.
Is the glass sapphire? I cannot find that information so it's probablly mineral glass which is a shame for the price it has. Nevertheless, it is a pretty good looking watch.
That’s a great question. I was surprised to see that is not listed on their site, but I found several articles saying it is a flat sapphire crystal. Including on WatchGecko.
Agree fully on “Automatic” mark. I find it a design distraction and while the Selita is fine, there’s no aesthetic or brand value to a dial placement. It’s actually a deal-breaker for me. The moon dial’s engaging openness and sparkle is so much more appealing.
I think while originally it was an advertising point... its morphed into more tradition than anything. I don't see the appeal in some dial centric watches
That's a really good looking watch. The 20 seconds a day 'acceptable' deviation is not acceptable to me. I do not care most will be better it's just not good enough.
This is definitely my next goal watch. 36mm is perfect for my 8 inch wrist. The only collectors who will have a problem with the size are those with fragile masculinity that need a larger watch than they actually need to somehow bolster their masculinity 👨🏻🦲👍🏻
Zelos and other micro-brands offer stuff just as nice for a lot less. Price is only part of it. Zelos has customer service second to none. That's more than I can say about after sales service from CW. Truthfully, I wouldn't be surprised if the bracelets and cases are made in the same factories as CW on some of my nicer micros.
The REAL top brands aren't forever bringing out new models to get the suckers to buy essentially the same watch in marginally different clothes. Christopher Ward is just a marketing company. If I see anyone wearing one I think 'sucker'.
I would like to see them implement this dial to The Twelve configuration.
🔥 😳

That is a really great idea
Wow that would be interesting!

CW have pretty much owned the last year or so for headline watch releases. Bel Canto, the twelve, the aventurine moon phase and now this.
CW, as a premium microbrand, needs to standardize on the SW300 series to differentiate themselves from the "Seiko-levels of accuracy" and the less-premium microbrands.
the 36mm Celest with Aventurine makes that 40mm C1 look huge

Does the Consort bracelet come with half links?
All of the links are the same size, they are smaller at 5mm. Hope this helps. @@SunsetSheen
36mm suits my small wrist…..I love it.
i really wish they'd give a solid caseback option for those that don't want to stare at a stock sellita
Should be made in 39mm.
Beautiful watch. I wish it was 38 or 39. Not sure I want to venture all the way down to 36.

Thanks, Bruce, was looking for a review on this one! Yes, my hesitation was also the 36 size. BTW ‘Aventurine’, not ‘Adventurine’ 😉
Very true, out of habit I sneak a D in there. Will do better next time
Pause @@BruceWilliams
If they’re watching I really want that moonphase in a smaller size with hour markers.
@BruceWilliams - what size is your wrist, if you dont mind? Size still looks decent on your wrist.
Did you notice if the movement had a phantom position because there isn't a possibility for date adjustment?
Love this watch!

Including on WatchGecko.
They should have made the bezel polished to match the dressier version
Thank you for being one of the first to offer us a review on this watch, Bruce.
But why do you keep saying aDventurine over and over again? 😅
Lol bad habit, sorry
I think this might actually look nicer with a polished bezel.
I like this one!
36mm is perfect for most watch collectors except people with massive wrists
CW is improving.
Aventurine
I know this watch makes you feel adventurous but there's no D in Aventurine.
The occassions to wear this are rare. Definitely formal dress occassions only.
Does the Consort bracelet come with half links?
Not that I see

@@BruceWilliams Good point. I think it’s a legacy role more than anything else.
If they make this in a 38 or 40 I will be all over it
I find the text AUTOMATIC to be off-center.

Are Zelos, or any of the other micro brands you know of, offering those types of models in a similar size?
Zelos is nice, but CW is a step above. You can buy this on a leather strap for less than $900.
I wouldn't compare CW to Zelos. Zelos are nice but not on the level of CW from the bracelet and the quality.
Agreed about the customer service but the finishing on CW's is far superior.
Absolutely love Zelos and have more reviews of the brand planned. This however is a step up from many Zelos
36 ????? Nooooooooooooooo!
You sir, are my spirit animal. 😁 100% I'm 6ft 1 & 14.5 stone, not an Oompa loompa!
I wouldn't be surprised to see a 39mm model is this sells well
movement so basic. i actualy like the automatic mention
What do you mean?
WTF IS ADEVNTURINE?? If you review a watch, at least ensure you pronounce it right.
The REAL top brands aren't forever bringing out new models to get the suckers to buy essentially the same watch in marginally different clothes. Christopher Ward is just a marketing company. If I see anyone wearing one I think 'sucker'.
I hate that they didn't use arabic numerals. Not a fan of the markers
Because it would make the dial too busy, it's all about the dial, not the indices
Boring, nothing special
Meh , this brand is probably the most overrated/hyped brand of the year, will never get over the name.
2nd review and still its "adventurine"?🫨
haha sorry bad habit
