I picked up a Doxa Sub200 this weekend. I went to the jewelry store looking to pick up a Tudor Black Bay or Longines Legend Diver, and fell in love with the Doxa. At $900 it felt like a real value. Seriously, it was the best of the 3 watches in terms of fit and finish. I never "got" Doxa until I wore it, and that bracelet is the BEST one I've ever worn, hands down.
The Murph has a display case back, it’s not meant to be a real field watch. You can’t fault it for not having AR. It’s primarily an aesthetic watch. Not having AR coating makes it more aesthetic and nostalgic. It’s nice that it has a proper WR, so it can be worn pretty much all the time.
Great video! I have the CW Sealander with the hunter green patina color. I totally agree it is a fantastic watch. It’s both a little rugged and a little elegant, it looks great, I can go swimming with it, and it feels like I got an Explorer or an Aqua Terra for less than a thousand bucks.
Just bought a Christopher Ward c63 39mm white dial for everyday use. It is cool C Ward has different sizes to choose because I have a 7.5mm wrist. Cant wait to receive it.
You have chosen really nice alternatives for that price and I can go for any of them but since you asked which one I would pick it will be the C63 Sealander from CW
Hamilton Murph. Not only is it the most beautiful watch here, but you add a nice steel bracelet, like the one from Uncle, and you have a perfect GADA watch that makes the Explorer look tacky.
Out of those three watches I'd choose the CW by far even though i really like the Murph. I have gone with the CW and could do the 36 size, but I'm wearing the white dial 39 right this minute on my 7-inch wrist. I also have the black dial version. So versatile. The bader bracelet is outstanding, but I also bought the dressier Consort bracelet, which I've grown to like more than expected. With these two watches and bracelets, I can mix several great combinations before even switching to leather straps. I would love a longer power reserve, but it's not that big of a deal.
Batavi Kosmopolite GMT, Maen Greenwich GMT, Chris Ward C63 for me.I would also have mentioned the Coast Pacific Explorer, but the brand no longer exists
Your video popped up and was interested when you mentioned the Hydroconquest and then the Murph. Finally there was the CW C63. I've looked at all these watches but just happened to have my blue 39mm CW63 on. I cannot recommend this watch enough, the feel and finishing on the Sealander blows the other two out of the water. I went into a Tudor boutique and decided to keep my money rather than but the BB58. I went into a jewellers who were a Rolex AD and they were very interested in the C63. My two Omegas have spent a lot of time in the watch box since I've had the C63. BTW, my wrist is 6.75 inches and the 39mm is fine. Great comparison.
Hi ! The model you are talking about is not ceramic it's aluminium ..The new hydroconquest models are ceramic and higher price (around 1500) ..in any case its a great watch..
I actually went to the AD with every intention of buying the Hamilton Murph but neither the 38 or 42 spoke to me so I ended up walking out with a Jazzmaster. I love Longines and have a Spirit 42 but I'm not as obsessed with divers as others appear to be. I'm seriously considering the CW although I would really like to have an Oyster Perpetual or an Aqua Terra but would need to put in some serious saving to achieve either of them. Decisions decisions 🤔
@@coldpizzawatchreviewsdue to the design of its case that has a fairly short lug to lug, the Doxa 300T wears a lot smaller than its specs would lead you to believe. I have a 6.75in wrist and it fits better than my 41mm submariner. Plus, they now have the 200T which is basically a mini version of the 300T (with significantly less water resistance and no HEV). Doxa hands down makes the best dive watches for under $2k.
The c63 sealander 36mm is just about perfect! I love mine. I noticed you said that it has a polished bezel but it’s actually brushed. I am very tempted to polish it though! Great video thanks 🙏👍
I meant to say brushed with polished edge but I didn’t catch that in editing. I’ll be reviewing another CW hands on hopefully by Monday I’ll have the video finished!
These are nice. I’ve had my eye on the Benrus Ultra Deep though. It might be overpriced but I like it so much I kind of don’t are, haha. Also the Jenny Caribbean.
Hi! I live in Spain. The cheapest Hydraconquest on the webpage is the quartz 39mm at 1.200€. But, you are talking about the automatic, that one is 1.500€, which is to say a bit over 1.600USD!!! And this video is not old. So, could you please clarify? I doubt that taxes make for that much. Are you talking about the Quartz model? btw, love your videos, keep it up. Best regards
Agree with what you are saying about the 3 watches. However, the CW has only 38 hr power reserve. If you're wearing the watch everyday that's not a problem, but if you wearing it in a rotation it's more problematic. I was looking at Tag Heuer 36 and 39mm casual watches similar to the CW. The 36mm has a longer power reserve than the 39mm because they haven't updated the movement yet. For an average buyer that may not matter, but at this point I want the longer power reserve. Glashutte Original has smaller diver that has a 38-40hr power reserve and its about 10K. Yes, the movement is nice, but I don't get that value proposition at all. That Longines is really the best value in the group all things considered.
I have had two Murph's, I love the design. I would love for the lume to be just a bit whiter in color, not a lot but just a bit. The watch also needs antireflective treatment. I am about to send my Sealander back to the factory, mine has been problematic, try not to use the crown to wind the movement if you can avoid it. I am sending mine back for the second time.
You said the Hydroconquest has a ceramic dial, and were showing pictures of the previous generation with the aluminum dial. The ceramic dial model with the upgraded movement is above $1000.
Hate the second hand counterbalance on the CW. Hate the lack of dial symmetry on the Longines because of the date window. So it's got to be the Hammy for me.
New subscriber here. I agree with your choice, and I'm also really happy to see a Sellita movement in a watch, for exactly the reasons you stated. I'm a hobbyist watchmaker myself, and I feel better knowing that I could get parts for it. I particularly like the SW300 (and variants), but the SW200 is reliable & keeps good time. The SW200 often gets knocked for an issue with ratchet wheels losing their teeth, but it's a non-issue if you know about it. Simply don't vigorously hand wind the watch when it already has >20% reserve & let the automatic module do its thing. Anyhow, for being a "niche" hobby, it's incredible to me how many worthwhile channels there are.
These are sound and excellent choices. But the best advice is to take the $1000 and continue to save until you have $1800 buy yourself a lightly used Tudor Royal or save the $2500 and get the new one. Pound for pound finest luxury watch in fit and finish sub 3K no other watch matters. Frankly don’t buy any of these watches they aren’t true luxury. When you handle even a 3K longine you’ll see and feel the difference.
I like to switch off watches. The CW movement with 38 hour power reserve, is just not good enough. If I am paying a $1,000 on a watch, I am not thinking of selling it. I would use it as a beater watch. I would probably go with the Longines. 72 hour power reserve. Fits my 7.25 wrist fine. If CW put their SH21 movement in it, instead of that ugly skeleton, I would be very interested in buying it.
The CW is the least offensive of the bunch, i think the Longine is quite ridiculous with thos gigantic numbers and oversized crown guard, and Hamilton I just dont like that brand name lol it sound like an Ontario city name.
I was recommended this video and I hadn't seen this channel before. I am disappointed it is yet another channel only recommending new watches. There is a lot of good value on the used market for $1,000 but it is difficult to navigate for a non-enthusiast and that is where a youtuber can add value. I will not be watching other videos from this channel as there are other channels that just show off new watches and do it better than this one. One reason to only show new watches is if you are sponsored or an authorized dealer, but this channel is so small I do not think that is the case here.
I don’t review only new watches. The Citizen NY0040 has been out since 1997 and the Certina DS Podium Automatic I just reviewed is no longer available. I like to recommend watches that I feel are a great value for the money. My last video was on Vintage Rolex 34mm Airking. I hope you can review my videos and see my passion for finding great deals for my viewers.
Yep - the CW. Can't go wrong here!
After much searching, I chose the C65 Dune in White Sand for my $1k price point watch. It's absolutely stellar.
I debated that one for a while it’s a great looking piece!!

I love Doxa just a bit too big for my wrist but otherwise they are great!!
The Doxa is a better watch than any of the three he mentioned in this video. I definitely would have gone for the 300T though.
Not an everyday watch but I absolutely love that watch
Thank goodness there is sooooo much variety at all price levels these days. 10 sets of eyeballs sees 10 different favorites. Something for everyone.
Agree with the Christopher Ward .

Hamilton Khaki Field Expedition 👍

Awesome watch!!
Recently bought a Hamilton khaki navy scuba for right around $1k and I love it.
I own the CW Sealander GMT in forest green. I really love it.
That’s a beautiful looking dial!
First time viewer and new subscriber: Thanks for the interesting comparison and solid review.
Thanks for the sub and wonderful comments!
I have the CW Sealander GMT, It's a great watch!
Yep it’s awesome!!
I prefer Longines. Great watch and the brand has a Wonderful History. Amazing video. Best Regards from Brazil.
Just bought a Christopher Ward c63 39mm white dial for everyday use. It is cool C Ward has different sizes to choose because I have a 7.5mm wrist. Cant wait to receive it.

The correct answer is five Citizen Promaster NY’s 😌

Hamilton Murph. Not only is it the most beautiful watch here, but you add a nice steel bracelet, like the one from Uncle, and you have a perfect GADA watch that makes the Explorer look tacky.
That Longines is beautiful. Murph is spectacular.Christopher Ward is a tight package.

I have this watch with a white dial. Great value and quality. No regrets with my purchase

Batavi Kosmopolite GMT, Maen Greenwich GMT, Chris Ward C63 for me.I would also have mentioned the Coast Pacific Explorer, but the brand no longer exists
Thank God you included the CW. I've got one on my wrist right now. Love it to death.

Thanks for the nice words! I’m excited that CW is sending me a watch to review this week so keep checking in with me.
Even the 39mm Sealander (GMT) has a pretty restrained L2L measurement - fits fine on my 6.5" wrist.
Solid picks. Longines and CW offer an incredible amount for the money.
Sinn 556A please.
Certina DS Action Diver 43. Shockingly good for the price.
I like the Christopher Ward, but I’m not a fan of the trident on the back of the seconds hand plus 36 is a bit small for my wrist
I find my 36 mm CW wears more like a 37 or 38mm.
C63 and Alpinist are my two favs personally
The Alpinist is great just wish it was a little bit smaller.
Hi ! The model you are talking about is not ceramic it's aluminium ..The new hydroconquest models are ceramic and higher price (around 1500) ..in any case its a great watch..
You’re right the Aluminum is under $1,000 the ceramic is $1,250 on Jomashop!
$500 more for just a ceramic bezel sounds pretty excessive.
I would go with the Christopher Ward out of those three.
All the options through CW are just excellent… I will add also the formex essence…
I actually went to the AD with every intention of buying the Hamilton Murph but neither the 38 or 42 spoke to me so I ended up walking out with a Jazzmaster.

All of these are great choices, I would most definitely add the Doxa Sub 200 to the list.
I like Doxa but my wrist are only 6.5” so I’m concerned that they will wear too big

CW all day long. I have the C63 39mm GMT (granted its over $1000), but its a fantastic watch for the price.
CW is a good pick for me. I also like the Longines, but a Squale or Doxa would also fit the submariner bill.
Fantastic choices and in particular the CW. Would you purchase this alongside your OP? It’s very similar but without all the worry of an OP
Can you send the link for the longines? Don’t see it under $1000 on there
I found it, sorry
Well…I own both the CW and the Hydroconquest, and I agree the CW fits better and is more comfortable
The Hydroconquest 39 has an aluminum bezel, the newer ones (41mm I think) have ceramic. Awesome watch either way

Sellita and ETA movements don’t like to be hand wound too much. I suggest a few turns just to get the movement started
Good discussion. Consider the Jack Mason Stratotimer. $995. Miyota 9075 travelers GMT movement.
I want a CW in 39mm with the bracelet
You said the Hydroconquest has a ceramic dial, and were showing pictures of the previous generation with the aluminum dial. The ceramic dial model with the upgraded movement is above $1000.
Yes that’s my mistake I meant to say Aluminum.
Hamilton for me
Wish they did not put a powermatic on the murph
I agree
Nivada Grenchen Antarctic Diver. $995 for the best original everyday design with a ton of history. 38mm
Plus 1!
Would be interesting to see which micro-brand watches you would buy for $1000! Like Farer, Traska, Zelos, Lorier, etc
What size wrist do you have?
6.5”
CW offers crazy value for money. The bracelets alone make their watches worth a look.

Love Longines but the Sealand all day. Is there anyone putting out watches of the same quality with the same value proposition as CW right now? No.
That Longine has bad looking numbers on the dial in my humble opinion.
WAY too big, not for me, but each to their own. 👊🏻
Between these three, Longines for me. With my 8.5 in wrists the CW is too small. If it was 39/40 cm at that price, Id go for CW over Longines
They do the same watch in 39
@@gilessinclair2156 is the 39 the same price? 🧐
Seiko SARB or SDGM
CW…but with Explorer set of Arabic numerals. 😉
