I agree 100% about Seasons 1 and 2, but Season 3 was in production at the time of Monty's passing, which makes it difficult to tell how much of that was Monty's vision and how much was hijacked by the vultures who were just waiting for their chance to turn RWBY into the disaster it ended up being. One thing I suspect would have been different would have been Roman Torchwick's role in the series. In Seasons 1 and 2, he was set up perfectly for a long arc of being the antagonist who eventually makes a heel-to-face turn. In Season 3, the final episode(s) threw that idea into the garbage bin. As Season 3 was also when we lost Pyrrha Nikos, I'm fine with giving Season 3 the same treatment as Season 4 onward.
@@RemyWillard Season 3 MOSTLY followed the outline left by Monty as Shane Newell with the rest of Monty's handpicked team were still employed. It's salvageable with a little work. But it's ending with the complete destruction of Vale is where it lost the plot as a means to force the cast into the wider world. Rework the Battle of Beacon so the school remains as a home base and let them have more adventures like Mountain Glenn with Beacon as a place to return to and you're on the right track. Four onward definitely needs to be chopped up and scrapped with certain arcs remaining as 'episodic' away missions.
Haloid is already so long ago already that the people who were born when it was made are almost legal now in the US. Though they are already legal in most of the world (whether the age of consent is 16).
The only places to watch RWBY now are 'unofficial' channels. Monty's crowning achievement and dream is now legitimate buried treasure. Suffice to say I may actually start ripping and archiving to save it from oblivion.
@@AutZentus There was one episode of rwby volume 1 that is still around and it was the one where yang was flirting the shirtless guys ans purring at them but it has different subtitles. But they won't do it because it under wb and so they will get shutdown. What I wanna know is. The Ruby Rose VA is now a VTuber of Ruby herself and has had some of the other VAs on her stream portraying their characters. So did they somehow get the licenses to their characters, or have they been infringing on the IP that was sold to another company this whole time?
It's basically their last hurrah. I imagine WBD is monitoring the situation and waiting for the project to bring in enough money to justify a legal take over and try to compete with major Vtubing corporations like Hololive or shut it down if it doesn't pan out financially. Lindsey Jones, quit doing the Ruby vtuber thing back in May I think. I have'nt seen her in a while so I looked her up the other day. She had a post on IG that discussed putting away the vtuber in May I believe. She has also started doing OnlyFans Content in place of vtubing. She literally looks like another person right now. I was surprised to see her current look.

Monty Oum set out to create a world with great characters and a storyline in mind. The seasons he was on until his unexpected passing showed that. Then it slowly went up a tall mountain and then continually fell for the rest of the seasons.
pls monty's story was little more then "they fight", anyone who says "they didn't follow monty's vision" is not respecting monty's friends, family and co-workers who actually knew what his vision was far more then any keyboard warrior

I'm not gonna claim he was anything other than a talented animator, but leadership (rallying people behind a set of standards) is more important to the creative process than most people realize. "Vision" is a nebulous concept, I'm sure Miles and Kerry had their own visions for how the show should go, but too many cooks in the kitchen will, in this case, ruin the entire dish.
@@bullinater7686 the difference is the first 3 seasons had no plot, so it's easier to be liked if there's no stakes or no real decisions being made, it was monty created a fight scene, threw it in the writers lap and said figure out how to get these characters in this scenario, season 1 finale is the perfect example monty creates a fight scene with 2 new characters, and the writers had to shoehorn them into the story in 2 episodes, like what show has a season 1 finally where the main character doesn't even get a fight? i tell what is the most memorable part of season 1-3, its the jaune gets bullied arc, no it was dance arc, no it was the part where they tell huntresses in training what a huntress is season 1 to 3 is not perfect not even close all you remember is the cool fights
@@starhammer5247 The fight scenes in Volumes 1 to 3 were great. Everything else...was mediocre at best. The worldbuilding in particular is so bad that it fell apart IN THE RED TRAILER. The very first thing they put out for the series, a TRAILER no less, not even the first actual episode, already broke the worldbuilding, and they never tried to fix it. JK Rowling is a master worldbuilder compared to RoosterTeeth. She's pretty bad too, but at the very least didn't break her worldbuilding within the back cover of her first HP book. THAT'S HOW BAD THEY WERE AT WRITING. They really should have just made a battle series where they release short battle videos every once in a while, and then if they felt ready for it, slowly sneak in some worldbuilding little by little before transforming it into a full fledged series. Instead, these guys who never made anything in the way of serious longform storytelling at all tried to make a western anime styled fantasy epic spanning the course of 10 plus years. Yeah, it's like if I tried to write Lord of the Rings in middle school. That is way too high of expectations, and they should have known that. Instead, they created a lot of hype and tried to coast on that hype for years, without hardly living up to it.
@@darklight8774 And that is also part of the problem. They didn't plan this very well at all, if what they did could even be considered planning. You can't just release a trailer and then decide that that trailer doesn't count. That's horrible planning, and it shows that you're not thinking at all about how to make this story happen. But even past that, it's not like the problems stopped with the Red Trailer. It continued from there. Repeatedly, they could not decide whether or not the Grimm were meant to be real threats or not. And the result of that is that it became extremely hard to actual feel any tension whenever there were Grimm around, even when they tried really hard to make it so. That big one that killed Ren's parents that season 4 (or 5) spent an entire season building up to being the final boss...yeah, that was a great attempt to make a Grimm actually feel threatening...only it didn't work because the Grimm before this didn't feel threatening AT ALL. And then that breaks the worldbuilding, because if the Grimm aren't actually that threatening and are actually just fodder for teenagers to show off with, then how the heck did humanity become so demolished by these things? That's what happens when you don't plan things through. You can say that Red Trailer didn't count, but that was many people's first introduction into the series. And not every watcher keeps up with the social media, so they won't hear that it wasn't supposed to count. But even if people hear that it doesn't count, too late, that trailer already painted people's expectations of the Grimm. This world-threatening humanity-destroying threat...fodderized by a teenager who hasn't even begun real training in killing them, before she became any sort of Chosen One either. No, for all intents and purposes, she was a regular teenager, and she completely fodderized these things that supposedly brought humanity to this semi-post-apocalyptic state, and that everyone has to constantly worry about.
@@starhammer5247 Honestly, Volume 3 wasn't as good as it should've been, since it was after Monty's passing. Here's some cuts and alterations made by RT that affected the show's development: 1- Adam's character, from a Tragic Villain/Well-Intentioned Extremist into a Psychopathic Manchild/Crazy Jealous Abusive Boyfriend for the sake of a non-canon ship; 2- Jaune was the one who was supposed to witness Phyrra's death at Cinder's hand instead of Ruby and was done only for the introduction of the silver-eyed warriors; 3- Related to the previous point, Cinder's fate at Ruby's silver eyes never should've happened, which only ruined her character; 4- Raven Branwen's introduction and fight with team JNPR.
It's still hard for me to digest the fact that the Discovery Channel is a sizable corporate entity big enough to swallow Warner Brothers. Whenever I think of Discovery, I think about watching National Geographic reruns with my grandpa as a tadpole.

Nijisanji is a large vtuber company that has been the center of a number of controversies including mistreating their talents. So alot of talents have left nijisanji (refered to as graduating) and either joined vshojo or gone independent.
Nijisanji has been and probably will be continuously exposed for the terrible working conditions within the company, even leading one of their most popular vtubers to try and take their own life, while the company itself tries to erase, defame and suppress the people who graduated. @@fanrail174

Graduation is a term used by Vtubers a lot when they leave a company. Its an official sendoff by both parties, and in a lot of cases, the Vtuber changes identities afterwards, either willingly or because the company owned the rights to their model. The reasons behind it can of course vary from friendly or just business to less than friendly circumstances but dirty laundry can't be aired for all to see. Niji in recent months has become well known for horrifically abusing and neglecting the talents under their payroll, so a lot of "graduations" of recent years have come to light as either successful escapes from their contracts, or Niji kicked them out forcefully but made them put on a smile under threat. Some are independent, several others have joined up with Vshojo, a much smaller but popular company well known for being the polar opposite. While NDAs and general professionalism prevent them from being too detailed or specific, general descriptions of what their old workplace was like are very similar, and concerning, across all of them. The most recent example was Selen, now known again by her old identity as Dokibird, who was abused and mistreated to the point of two suicide attempts. While Selen was in the hospital freshly recovering, Niji posted on her own social media account lying about what happened to her and where she was as if it was Selen talking, then fired her, didn't bother to even tell her she was fired until she saw public announcements, doxxed her, illegally shared confidential documents about her with her other vtuber coworkers, had said coworkers go on stream to share this confidential information while publicly bashing her, and then as a cherry on top, Niji executives multiples times either wrote or stated "yeah Selen was so worthless to us, her harsh termination won't even impact us at all". Thankfully Doki seems to be doing much better these days, with a massive following already.

It was kept alive after Monty's death and refused to follow his vision, and pandered to people who headcanon'd characters together despite clear implications otherwise - which came to the show's detriment and why many people fell off of it. It needs to end. However, you reap what you sow. What they did to Vic came back to bite them in the ass as it should.
I really do hope RWBY gets a long term bastion where it is preserved. It deserves to exist even if it is merely a how-not-to guide where you can point to high and low points and what works and doesn't, also nostalgia.

Orange: a taciturn Shark-Faunus bruiser dude that wields a cannon-anchor. Is very good at tracking with scent and sound, but not eye-sight. Navy: a secretive sea-merchant lady that wields paired butterfly-swords with spring loaded, replaceable blades. Has a lot of back-room contacts. Ebony: a bookish lady, very fair-skinned/light-skinned and with red-orange hair, like a ginger. No one knows why she’s called Ebony, and the rest of the team likes to kind of tease her over the juxtaposition, lol. Can manipulate paper into blades and projectiles, as well as utilize Dust-ink, paint, and pencil markings for offensive and defensive purposes.
RWBY started out good, but when the original creator died, the show was lost to the true toxic fans that wanted it turned into what it became. This should be an example of how NOT to run a show and franchise. They destroyed it themselves.
Next month, all physical copies of RWBY will self-destruct and all digital copies will be forcefully deleted from everyone who paid for and bought them.
As much of a shitty thing that was RT closing down, mainly for the ammount of the good people who lost their job. If RWBY did come back it wouldnt be RWBY. The voice cast would be changed, the animation medium would be changed, the story might be the same but I highly doubt it. So the only that would remain would be the name.

You see, this is why I pirated it after it was taken off UA-cam, until giving up during Volume 9 as that's when the show finally lost me after having taken too many bullshit turns that didn't make much sense.
My 13 year old niece wanted to see Volume 9 for months and finally got access to Crunchy Roll and saw it. The first thing she said to me about it was "I hate that stupid mouse." And she admitted V.8 (and everything way earlier) was way better. Even if you hate the direction the show took post-Monty, it's painstakingly obvious that epic battle with high stakes > random fairy tale BS with a mouse and making Jean look like crap for no good reason.
I just wish it was closed BEFORE the latest season. BEFORE they officially put a nail into it by.. ugh... "crossing" Yang and Blake... Such an absolute disgrace.

I mean unless CR stated something, RWBY on CR was on a time limit and i half expected this to happen in May, not freaking July.

Good company? In an alternate timeline he succeeded in breaking away from RT and forming his own animation studio like he was plotting to do in this timeline. It would have been an AMAZING company that would go on to rival Japanese studios and the rebirth of American animation.

We are at a point where any affiliation with WB nine times out of ten is basically a death sentence. The only exceptions seem to be Harley Quinn and… yeah… Velma. Still remembered a time people thought I was trolling when I said it got renewed for a second season. I wish I was wrong… but I wasn’t unfortunately… Who knows if RWBY will return, but under WB? Yeah, zero vote of confidence.
I do hope rwby can at least find a way to properly end. Heck I'm fine keeping the current seasons. As long as the finale is amazing. And we treat seasons 5-9 as one bad hangover 😂
The funniest part of this IP is that the last season if spent in a fairytail wonderland thing, which means the story doesn't actually advance (except for pushing some "pro suicide themes", finally "shipping" some characters, and making some creepier with time shenanigans that make them a 40 year old in a teens body).
I've never watched the show but RWBY was actually datamined as a future multiversus character so I feel like warner has to have something planned for the series. Maybe they've pulled it from Crunchyroll cause they're planning on moving it to Max or something.
I've said for years that the best thing they could probably do for the franchise at this point is to stuff it in the back of a file cabinet for a while. It was, and still is a good premise. It just needs better hands guiding it.

Sadly it isn't strange for animated projects to suddenly be cancelled and then completely disappear, some of which were seemingly popular, so RWBY's chances are very slim to none. Someone from RT can say there will be more all they want but unless you see actual promotional material somewhere official, don't believe them. Its okay to be positive but sometimes you need to be realistic and set your expectations low.
It really is crazy that entire series can just be memory holed like this. Yeah RWBY has physical releases, but those are starting to become rarer and rarer these days. Eventually the ability to legally watch certain series is going to be entirely dependent upon whether or not streaming services choose to continue to host them.
I just checked RWBY_VT the main actress was working as a VTuber on Twitch, she hasn't streamed in 2 months as RWBY. It's very likely the IP is dead. I know people want it to continue but that's not likely to happen. Death Battle which was also owned by Rooster Teeth has also not produced anything for the last two months. It's safe to assume that these IP's are dead. Well RWBY has been dead for awhile. But all the UA-cam channels are now probably very dead.
I honestly feel like if someone actually does decide to buy the RWBY IP then they're going to reboot it because when you think about it continuing the current story doesn't make sense. The shows drop in quality is well know by everyone but there's also the fact that if they did continue it there wouldn't be much to do. The show was no doubt gonna end in one or two volumes max so there wouldn't be much profit to make, and the final reason would be...this series was always kind of niche, RWBY only ever appealed to RWBY fans and from what I can tell it struggled to obtain new ones later on during it's lifespan. You can't fix the show as it is now without massive rewrites and retcons and it just wouldn't be worth it. So a reboot is the only hope the series has and that's IF someone actually decides to purchase it.

If the series were to be revisited and rebooted, I suppose we should follow up on from Vols 1 to 2. I heard 3 was when all hell broke loose so a change on a rebooted Vol 3 should be interesting. Idk though.
My guess is WB is taking a tax-write off hence why RWBY is getting scrubbed from the internet. People who want to archive/preserve what they can should probably start downloading the old trailers and what not before they get removed from the Rooster Teeth channel
Seeing people dunk on RWBY honestly hurts. This was Monty's vision, and to see people dunking on his legacy is just...*rough*. Also funny how, in hindsight, Monty may have been the guy that held RT together. RT before Monty was a bunch of memes with Halo assets. Monty took RT to another level, from a bunch of frat guys making corny jokes, to an actual legitimate *studio*. He worked his ass off, and what happened after he was tragically taken from the world? It seems that RT shit the bed and reverted back to its old ways, to the point it went under. It's infuriating, and pathetic. At this point, I'm not sure who can honor Monty's legacy, b/c ultimately, it was Monty's work. I feel like fans need to give the RWBY story a strong finish, and then let the main 4 girls and all the other cool characters just be sort of "public geek domain" property? IDK, but just...can the IP be passed to non-toxic fans that love the material and can write a solid story?
Oh no RT was WORSE after his passing. You are correct in that Monty took RvB to the next level but while he was making it awesome, the new faces and creatives such as Miles and Kerry were quietly ushering the old guard of Burnie, Gus, and Matt out the door. Geoff basically capitulated and went along with it as a means to save his employment since he literally can't do anything else. Burnie, Gus, Geoff, and Matt made RvB the legacy it was and Monty took that to the next level. However after Monty's passing and the old guard faded away, the new creatives went to work. It wasn't a revertion back to the old ways. It was a new and terrible direction that would kill it. It was so bad that they tried to go back to the old ways only to find it didn't work out without bringing back some of the problematic old guard to work their magic. There are plenty of people who can honor Monty's legacy. The team he handpicked for RWBY are still out there and his widow still has his notes. All they need is an actual competent writer who understands the tropes and themes of anime and eastern style in general. Someone who would have actually done their due diligence when Monty gave them 'anime homework' and actually had the balls to check Monty during some of his more outlandish ideas the way the script writers for Star Wars checked George Lucas for the OT. I don't think an actual fan who can do that is that hard to find.

@@broden4838 More like he jumped ship to get the payday and sign with another gig before the studio failed and the blame for it failing was placed on him the way it landed on Geoff who stuck around to the bitter end. He basically escaped the consequences of his actions. Kerry was not so lucky and he's one of the remaining big names trying to shop around RWBY and plead with anyone to finance Vol 10 now that WBD has ceased all funding.

It’s possible that WB found someone which is why RWBY is no longer on Crunchyroll. My guess is that Glitch Productions (the makers of The Amazing Digital Circus) snatched it up as they were campaigning for Dillon Goo and his animation studio to acquire it and Glitch said that they have a bunch of other shows being worked on besides Murder Drones and TADC.

@@Seras99 it’s possible also CR announced that RWBY Arrowfell is coming to Crunchyroll Game Vault sometime between July and August with a bunch of other games and Ice Queendom is still on the service. My guess is that SHAFT (Ice Queendom) and Wayforward (Arrowfell) got the rights to their specific titles and gave CR the streaming rights since both companies have a good workin relationship with CR.

It's kind of fitting that the last we got from RWBY was just a filler season that changed NOTHING and wasn't even relevant to the plot. It's infuriating and feels like a waste of time. So basically the show in a nutshell ever since Monty passed away. Serves RT right what happened to them. They mistreated their own staff for years, disrespected Monty's legacy, fired his wife and created one of the most toxic fanbases.

Well the one of theproblems with rwby they even admit that it not profitable anymore. Barbara admitted at stream that it no longer profitable and not only that it was expensive as well. I also disagree with hero hei about people like the current rwby because I don't understand how people who used to like rwby think the current one are good which I'm sorry it isn't. Also it doesn't help as well with how crwby and rt treat there audiences as well and pander to people who don't care about rwby accept the terrible ships like bumblebee/wasps. Everything they did was a failure and terrible the comics were awful and makes no sense in cannon and make the characters worst, the movies were terrible and insult people who were fans of the dc characters and rwby as well and makes no sense in timeline because they were supposed take place between 10 and 11. Not to mention the shove more stupid ships like bumblebee in it. Not to mention there was a scene where they tried to make yang care about ruby and how she needs her when in the past she didn't care at all and let her die and wasn't worried at her back at 8 or 9 or the previous volumes. Ruby should went off at everyone and tell them how horrible they are. Because Ruby shouldn't forgive them or even be okay with yang and her relationship with blake because they were forced and manipulate to be a couple. Than 9 which was awful and have zero redeeming things to it. Waste of time, the characters didn't grow or learn and makes no sense in, the songs were terrible and makes no sense. The forced bumblebee/wasp "confession" is not only horrific but one of the worst scenes in rwby and the fact people say it "cute" or would been better if they did this or make excuses I'm sorry but no, your wrong. They literally forced them at gun point to be something there not and manipulated them which is beyond disgusting and horrible. Also the fact the writers care more about this scene and this ship than ruby development, depression and suicide which was extremely rushed and horrible is beyond unforgivable and disgusting. Ruby suicide and depression was awful and disgusting and the fact that no one care not even yang her sister care is unforgivable. Yang was more concerned about blake and was hugging her and the writers forced more stupid shipping scenes than yang being a sister is unforgivable and disgusting. Even when shr was having a breakdown yang was angry at ruby and not confronting her and instead stay by blake side and say hey at hwr all angry . And ruby have ever right to be angry at her and there relationship because it make no sense and when she say shut up she was holding blake and was angry at ruby. The fact that the writers have to damage control is beyond hilarious and guess what it didn't work and they destroyed yang relationship with ruby. She is a terrible horrible sister and person who cares more about a coward who play victim that will not last and be very abusive and toxic. (Also the fact people like bumblebee/wasps shippers and fanatic tried to defend this ship is terrible and claimed yang is not a terrible sister is laughable especially she wasn't there to help ruby in the past several volumes ( also the fact people will draw ruby being or animation supporting with bumblebee/wasps makes no sense because ruby shouldbe angry at them.and also use it attacking the actual fans and critics is beyond hilarious and pathetic) if this was past volume 1-3, 4 yang or icequeendom she would have killed and strangled the current yang and hated Blake especially when she tried to make yang be okay about ruby death what an awful person blake is. Also let not forget that icequeendom was under attack by crwby mostly arryn zech because of how they were making icequeendom and was playing victim about the director and claimed he was abusive all the while demanding the push for bumblebee/wasps scenes in icequeendom. Even though the creator monty want them to be straight and a sisterhood. Also back at the bumblebee/wasps "confession" it makes zero sense on why would yang care more about blake than ruby. This scene makes no sense at all and get worst and worst if you think about it more. The ship had a huge hane in killing rwby and the characters and the fandom. And you know what funny that scene would actually makes sense if you replaced blake and put ruby with yang. That actually make more sense and but would be impactful and emotional and amazing if it was just yang and ruby and there relationship. I fact replace blake in all those shipping bumblebee/wasps scenes and put ruby in it with yang would actually not make much more sense but would actually show how much yang and ruby do care about one. The bridged should be about yang trying to show how much yang does love and care about ruby and it yang breaking ruby shell and her telling her she mean the world to ruby ans that she loves her and she afaid of something happen to ruby ans want to be with ruby. They would hug, cry, tell each other they love one another and yang kiss ruby on the forehead or cheeks and ahe happy there together and promise to protect one another and be by each other sides and you could have then learn about summer and and there parents and ect. As for crunchyrole it not good sign for them meanings that there not renewed rwby or interest in them at all which makes sense. Meaning that crwby is not making volume 10 and that there's no hope rwby continue which good I don't want crwby to continue and with how they treat there audiences and rather they be woke than honoring and respecting rwby. Thanks for clarifying this so clearly. I was very upset about Yang not being emotionally present to help her little sister through this depression in this pointless fairy tale world, but couldn't put it into words like you did. You helped me realize that was a major part of why I hated Volume 9. Such a pointless story arc. Did not do depression or suicide awareness ANY justice. It just normalizes abusive behavior in friend circles and families, and teaches that certain kinds of relationships take priority over family.
I got Seasons 1-6 via YT-DLP back when I cared enough about the show to want to watch it, but I ain't sad to see the rest go. Season 9 solely existed to completely bend the knee to the vocal, colorful minority of fans and canonize Bumblebee, and that was my breaking point. Well, that and another episode having a trigger warning. And I say that as someone who actually did like Seasons 4 and 5.
Man, back when RWBY was first coming out I was pretty obsessed with it, honestly. At some point I just happened to stop keeping up with it, but it sounds like that wasn't a big loss, anyway. Now with Roosterteeth just straight up deleted, and everything that happened with that, and the things I'm hearing about what happened with the show after I dropped it, I just... I don't know, man. It just makes me sad. Rest in peace, Monty. Your work deserved better.

A little bit of GOOD news though… The Multiversus game had audio files leaked that Ruby is to be a fighter there in the near future. Specifically from the datamined Pickle Rick Skin… Keywords include “Semblance” Dust”, “American Anime”, “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Scythe”… The only thing he DIDN’T say was Ruby’s name out loud.
One potential answer for this could come from the Warner side. Since the IP is for sale. They may want to be able to offer it to any buyer without any existing contracts that mess with exclusivity.
Moral of the story: Don't be a fan, be an enjoyer. Don't obsess over a piece of media, just say that you like it. And this is coming from a white Hungarian who has Ruby Rose with a top hat and a bow tie as his profile picture. I like Rwby. I do want it to come back. But I've seen both sides of the spectrum. People have harassed me for liking Rwby, and I've seen my former friends harassing people who don't like it. That's why I stay away from the fandom, and stick to my little bubble of Ruby Rose being one of my favorite human protagonists. To be perfectly honest though, I never understood why people hate the show and say it got worse. Now I'm not judging if you don't like it, but everyone I've spoken to so far said they hate it because the story didn't go in the direction that they wanted. Which is understandable, but then why are you blaming "bad writing" for that? Ever since Rooster Teeth got shut down, people around me refused to shut up about how Rwby is dead and it's never coming back, and it honestly felt really toxic. But to clarify, I don't want Rwby to continue. I want it to end. What I mean by that is, I do like the show, but by now I really want to see how it concludes. I would be satisfied if they released just one more season where they wrap things up. But only if they do it well, of course.
Eight years ago, I would have been upset. Now, I just don't care. I was out after the terrible Volume 5 and haven't looked back since. From what I heard, after what they did to the plot and characters since then, it is for the best that it disappears forever.
If Warner is going to start doing the whole "it's my IP to sit on and do nothing with" that's kind of sad, but I feel like they should just sell it to like good smile (it might end up like BRS but that would be a better fate than death itself.)
They have Ruby coming to their “Multiversus” game, but that’s the only good news I know of so far… My guess now is that Warner’s trying to figure out what to do with the franchise… Probably going have the RWBY setting be absorbed into the greater DC Comics cosmology fully after the 2 Justice League Crossovers (Teen Titans or Young Justice would have been better meshes in my thinking, but what’s done is done).

Seasons 1-3 should stay because it's Monty's Legacy. Everything after, I'm fine with snapping it away from existence.
I agree 100% about Seasons 1 and 2, but Season 3 was in production at the time of Monty's passing, which makes it difficult to tell how much of that was Monty's vision and how much was hijacked by the vultures who were just waiting for their chance to turn RWBY into the disaster it ended up being.
One thing I suspect would have been different would have been Roman Torchwick's role in the series. In Seasons 1 and 2, he was set up perfectly for a long arc of being the antagonist who eventually makes a heel-to-face turn. In Season 3, the final episode(s) threw that idea into the garbage bin. As Season 3 was also when we lost Pyrrha Nikos, I'm fine with giving Season 3 the same treatment as Season 4 onward.
@@RemyWillard Season 3 MOSTLY followed the outline left by Monty as Shane Newell with the rest of Monty's handpicked team were still employed. It's salvageable with a little work. But it's ending with the complete destruction of Vale is where it lost the plot as a means to force the cast into the wider world.
Rework the Battle of Beacon so the school remains as a home base and let them have more adventures like Mountain Glenn with Beacon as a place to return to and you're on the right track.
Four onward definitely needs to be chopped up and scrapped with certain arcs remaining as 'episodic' away missions.
Four and five at least had notes from Monty to work off of, and I largely am OK where things went up to that point, but yeah, everything after...

Monty Oum set out to create a world with great characters and a storyline in mind. The seasons he was on until his unexpected passing showed that. Then it slowly went up a tall mountain and then continually fell for the rest of the seasons.

"Vision" is a nebulous concept, I'm sure Miles and Kerry had their own visions for how the show should go, but too many cooks in the kitchen will, in this case, ruin the entire dish.

@@starhammer5247 The fight scenes in Volumes 1 to 3 were great. Everything else...was mediocre at best. The worldbuilding in particular is so bad that it fell apart IN THE RED TRAILER. The very first thing they put out for the series, a TRAILER no less, not even the first actual episode, already broke the worldbuilding, and they never tried to fix it. JK Rowling is a master worldbuilder compared to RoosterTeeth. She's pretty bad too, but at the very least didn't break her worldbuilding within the back cover of her first HP book. THAT'S HOW BAD THEY WERE AT WRITING.
They really should have just made a battle series where they release short battle videos every once in a while, and then if they felt ready for it, slowly sneak in some worldbuilding little by little before transforming it into a full fledged series. Instead, these guys who never made anything in the way of serious longform storytelling at all tried to make a western anime styled fantasy epic spanning the course of 10 plus years. Yeah, it's like if I tried to write Lord of the Rings in middle school. That is way too high of expectations, and they should have known that. Instead, they created a lot of hype and tried to coast on that hype for years, without hardly living up to it.

@@darklight8774 And that is also part of the problem. They didn't plan this very well at all, if what they did could even be considered planning. You can't just release a trailer and then decide that that trailer doesn't count. That's horrible planning, and it shows that you're not thinking at all about how to make this story happen.
But even past that, it's not like the problems stopped with the Red Trailer. It continued from there. Repeatedly, they could not decide whether or not the Grimm were meant to be real threats or not. And the result of that is that it became extremely hard to actual feel any tension whenever there were Grimm around, even when they tried really hard to make it so. That big one that killed Ren's parents that season 4 (or 5) spent an entire season building up to being the final boss...yeah, that was a great attempt to make a Grimm actually feel threatening...only it didn't work because the Grimm before this didn't feel threatening AT ALL. And then that breaks the worldbuilding, because if the Grimm aren't actually that threatening and are actually just fodder for teenagers to show off with, then how the heck did humanity become so demolished by these things?
That's what happens when you don't plan things through. You can say that Red Trailer didn't count, but that was many people's first introduction into the series. And not every watcher keeps up with the social media, so they won't hear that it wasn't supposed to count. But even if people hear that it doesn't count, too late, that trailer already painted people's expectations of the Grimm. This world-threatening humanity-destroying threat...fodderized by a teenager who hasn't even begun real training in killing them, before she became any sort of Chosen One either. No, for all intents and purposes, she was a regular teenager, and she completely fodderized these things that supposedly brought humanity to this semi-post-apocalyptic state, and that everyone has to constantly worry about.

Here's some cuts and alterations made by RT that affected the show's development:
1- Adam's character, from a Tragic Villain/Well-Intentioned Extremist into a Psychopathic Manchild/Crazy Jealous Abusive Boyfriend for the sake of a non-canon ship;
2- Jaune was the one who was supposed to witness Phyrra's death at Cinder's hand instead of Ruby and was done only for the introduction of the silver-eyed warriors;
3- Related to the previous point, Cinder's fate at Ruby's silver eyes never should've happened, which only ruined her character;
4- Raven Branwen's introduction and fight with team JNPR.
It's still hard for me to digest the fact that the Discovery Channel is a sizable corporate entity big enough to swallow Warner Brothers. Whenever I think of Discovery, I think about watching National Geographic reruns with my grandpa as a tadpole.

Graduation is a term used by Vtubers a lot when they leave a company. Its an official sendoff by both parties, and in a lot of cases, the Vtuber changes identities afterwards, either willingly or because the company owned the rights to their model. The reasons behind it can of course vary from friendly or just business to less than friendly circumstances but dirty laundry can't be aired for all to see.
Niji in recent months has become well known for horrifically abusing and neglecting the talents under their payroll, so a lot of "graduations" of recent years have come to light as either successful escapes from their contracts, or Niji kicked them out forcefully but made them put on a smile under threat. Some are independent, several others have joined up with Vshojo, a much smaller but popular company well known for being the polar opposite. While NDAs and general professionalism prevent them from being too detailed or specific, general descriptions of what their old workplace was like are very similar, and concerning, across all of them.
The most recent example was Selen, now known again by her old identity as Dokibird, who was abused and mistreated to the point of two suicide attempts. While Selen was in the hospital freshly recovering, Niji posted on her own social media account lying about what happened to her and where she was as if it was Selen talking, then fired her, didn't bother to even tell her she was fired until she saw public announcements, doxxed her, illegally shared confidential documents about her with her other vtuber coworkers, had said coworkers go on stream to share this confidential information while publicly bashing her, and then as a cherry on top, Niji executives multiples times either wrote or stated "yeah Selen was so worthless to us, her harsh termination won't even impact us at all". Thankfully Doki seems to be doing much better these days, with a massive following already.

Let it die. It was kept alive after Monty's death and refused to follow his vision, and pandered to people who headcanon'd characters together despite clear implications otherwise - which came to the show's detriment and why many people fell off of it.

I was so excited for RWBY when the early teaser fight trailers released, but we didn't get that. It turned into a CW angsty drama. So disappointing.
I really do hope RWBY gets a long term bastion where it is preserved. It deserves to exist even if it is merely a how-not-to guide where you can point to high and low points and what works and doesn't, also nostalgia.

RWBY started out good, but when the original creator died, the show was lost to the true toxic fans that wanted it turned into what it became. This should be an example of how NOT to run a show and franchise. They destroyed it themselves.
Next month, all physical copies of RWBY will self-destruct and all digital copies will be forcefully deleted from everyone who paid for and bought them.
As much of a shitty thing that was RT closing down, mainly for the ammount of the good people who lost their job. If RWBY did come back it wouldnt be RWBY. The voice cast would be changed, the animation medium would be changed, the story might be the same but I highly doubt it. So the only that would remain would be the name.

You see, this is why I pirated it after it was taken off UA-cam, until giving up during Volume 9 as that's when the show finally lost me after having taken too many bullshit turns that didn't make much sense.
My 13 year old niece wanted to see Volume 9 for months and finally got access to Crunchy Roll and saw it. The first thing she said to me about it was "I hate that stupid mouse." And she admitted V.8 (and everything way earlier) was way better. Even if you hate the direction the show took post-Monty, it's painstakingly obvious that epic battle with high stakes > random fairy tale BS with a mouse and making Jean look like crap for no good reason.

The funniest part of this IP is that the last season if spent in a fairytail wonderland thing, which means the story doesn't actually advance (except for pushing some "pro suicide themes", finally "shipping" some characters, and making some creepier with time shenanigans that make them a 40 year old in a teens body).
I've never watched the show but RWBY was actually datamined as a future multiversus character so I feel like warner has to have something planned for the series. Maybe they've pulled it from Crunchyroll cause they're planning on moving it to Max or something.
I've said for years that the best thing they could probably do for the franchise at this point is to stuff it in the back of a file cabinet for a while.

Sadly it isn't strange for animated projects to suddenly be cancelled and then completely disappear, some of which were seemingly popular, so RWBY's chances are very slim to none.
Someone from RT can say there will be more all they want but unless you see actual promotional material somewhere official, don't believe them. Its okay to be positive but sometimes you need to be realistic and set your expectations low.
It really is crazy that entire series can just be memory holed like this. Yeah RWBY has physical releases, but those are starting to become rarer and rarer these days. Eventually the ability to legally watch certain series is going to be entirely dependent upon whether or not streaming services choose to continue to host them.

I just checked RWBY_VT the main actress was working as a VTuber on Twitch, she hasn't streamed in 2 months as RWBY. It's very likely the IP is dead. I know people want it to continue but that's not likely to happen. Death Battle which was also owned by Rooster Teeth has also not produced anything for the last two months.
It's safe to assume that these IP's are dead. Well RWBY has been dead for awhile. But all the UA-cam channels are now probably very dead.
I honestly feel like if someone actually does decide to buy the RWBY IP then they're going to reboot it because when you think about it continuing the current story doesn't make sense. The shows drop in quality is well know by everyone but there's also the fact that if they did continue it there wouldn't be much to do. The show was no doubt gonna end in one or two volumes max so there wouldn't be much profit to make, and the final reason would be...this series was always kind of niche, RWBY only ever appealed to RWBY fans and from what I can tell it struggled to obtain new ones later on during it's lifespan. You can't fix the show as it is now without massive rewrites and retcons and it just wouldn't be worth it. So a reboot is the only hope the series has and that's IF someone actually decides to purchase it.

Seeing people dunk on RWBY honestly hurts. This was Monty's vision, and to see people dunking on his legacy is just...*rough*. Also funny how, in hindsight, Monty may have been the guy that held RT together. RT before Monty was a bunch of memes with Halo assets. Monty took RT to another level, from a bunch of frat guys making corny jokes, to an actual legitimate *studio*. He worked his ass off, and what happened after he was tragically taken from the world? It seems that RT shit the bed and reverted back to its old ways, to the point it went under.

At this point, I'm not sure who can honor Monty's legacy, b/c ultimately, it was Monty's work. I feel like fans need to give the RWBY story a strong finish, and then let the main 4 girls and all the other cool characters just be sort of "public geek domain" property? You are correct in that Monty took RvB to the next level but while he was making it awesome, the new faces and creatives such as Miles and Kerry were quietly ushering the old guard of Burnie, Gus, and Matt out the door. Geoff basically capitulated and went along with it as a means to save his employment since he literally can't do anything else.
Burnie, Gus, Geoff, and Matt made RvB the legacy it was and Monty took that to the next level. However after Monty's passing and the old guard faded away, the new creatives went to work.
It wasn't a revertion back to the old ways. It was a new and terrible direction that would kill it. It was so bad that they tried to go back to the old ways only to find it didn't work out without bringing back some of the problematic old guard to work their magic.
There are plenty of people who can honor Monty's legacy. The team he handpicked for RWBY are still out there and his widow still has his notes. All they need is an actual competent writer who understands the tropes and themes of anime and eastern style in general. Someone who would have actually done their due diligence when Monty gave them 'anime homework' and actually had the balls to check Monty during some of his more outlandish ideas the way the script writers for Star Wars checked George Lucas for the OT.
I don't think an actual fan who can do that is that hard to find.

It’s possible that WB found someone which is why RWBY is no longer on Crunchyroll. My guess is that Glitch Productions (the makers of The Amazing Digital Circus) snatched it up as they were campaigning for Dillon Goo and his animation studio to acquire it and Glitch said that they have a bunch of other shows being worked on besides Murder Drones and TADC.

@@Seras99 it’s possible also CR announced that RWBY Arrowfell is coming to Crunchyroll Game Vault sometime between July and August with a bunch of other games and Ice Queendom is still on the service. My guess is that SHAFT (Ice Queendom) and Wayforward (Arrowfell) got the rights to their specific titles and gave CR the streaming rights since both companies have a good workin relationship with CR.

It's kind of fitting that the last we got from RWBY was just a filler season that changed NOTHING and wasn't even relevant to the plot. It's infuriating and feels like a waste of time. So basically the show in a nutshell ever since Monty passed away. Serves RT right what happened to them. They mistreated their own staff for years, disrespected Monty's legacy, fired his wife and created one of the most toxic fanbases.

Well the one of theproblems with rwby they even admit that it not profitable anymore. Barbara admitted at stream that it no longer profitable and not only that it was expensive as well. Also it doesn't help as well with how crwby and rt treat there audiences as well and pander to people who don't care about rwby accept the terrible ships like bumblebee/wasps.

Because Ruby shouldn't forgive them or even be okay with yang and her relationship with blake because they were forced and manipulate to be a couple.
Than 9 which was awful and have zero redeeming things to it. Waste of time, the characters didn't grow or learn and makes no sense in, the songs were terrible and makes no sense. The forced bumblebee/wasp "confession" is not only horrific but one of the worst scenes in rwby and the fact people say it "cute" or would been better if they did this or make excuses I'm sorry but no, your wrong. They literally forced them at gun point to be something there not and manipulated them which is beyond disgusting and horrible. Also the fact the writers care more about this scene and this ship than ruby development, depression and suicide which was extremely rushed and horrible is beyond unforgivable and disgusting.
Ruby suicide and depression was awful and disgusting and the fact that no one care not even yang her sister care is unforgivable. Yang was more concerned about blake and was hugging her and the writers forced more stupid shipping scenes than yang being a sister is unforgivable and disgusting. Even when shr was having a breakdown yang was angry at ruby and not confronting her and instead stay by blake side and say hey at hwr all angry . And ruby have ever right to be angry at her and there relationship because it make no sense and when she say shut up she was holding blake and was angry at ruby. The fact that the writers have to damage control is beyond hilarious and guess what it didn't work and they destroyed yang relationship with ruby. She is a terrible horrible sister and person who cares more about a coward who play victim that will not last and be very abusive and toxic. (Also the fact people like bumblebee/wasps shippers and fanatic tried to defend this ship is terrible and claimed yang is not a terrible sister is laughable especially she wasn't there to help ruby in the past several volumes ( also the fact people will draw ruby being or animation supporting with bumblebee/wasps makes no sense because ruby shouldbe angry at them.and also use it attacking the actual fans and critics is beyond hilarious and pathetic) if this was past volume 1-3, 4 yang or icequeendom she would have killed and strangled the current yang and hated Blake especially when she tried to make yang be okay about ruby death what an awful person blake is.

They would hug, cry, tell each other they love one another and yang kiss ruby on the forehead or cheeks and ahe happy there together and promise to protect one another and be by each other sides and you could have then learn about summer and and there parents and ect.

Thanks for clarifying this so clearly. I was very upset about Yang not being emotionally present to help her little sister through this depression in this pointless fairy tale world, but couldn't put it into words like you did. You helped me realize that was a major part of why I hated Volume 9. Such a pointless story arc. Did not do depression or suicide awareness ANY justice. It just normalizes abusive behavior in friend circles and families, and teaches that certain kinds of relationships take priority over family.

I got Seasons 1-6 via YT-DLP back when I cared enough about the show to want to watch it, but I ain't sad to see the rest go. Season 9 solely existed to completely bend the knee to the vocal, colorful minority of fans and canonize Bumblebee, and that was my breaking point. Well, that and another episode having a trigger warning. And I say that as someone who actually did like Seasons 4 and 5.
4 was good. It had potential and served as a decent interim Volume. 5 had its positives and negatives. Everything after was just terrible.
Man, back when RWBY was first coming out I was pretty obsessed with it, honestly. At some point I just happened to stop keeping up with it, but it sounds like that wasn't a big loss, anyway. Now with Roosterteeth just straight up deleted, and everything that happened with that, and the things I'm hearing about what happened with the show after I dropped it, I just... I don't know, man. It just makes me sad.

Either two things will happen they put it in the vault and lock it up and will be done which is funny because you can argue that bumblebee/wasps killed rwby which it did and that it not cannon because the volume is filler. Or they will give it to someone in japan and reboot it like icequeendom and makw a new team and crwby wont be involved. The Multiversus game had audio files leaked that Ruby is to be a fighter there in the near future. Specifically from the datamined Pickle Rick Skin… Keywords include “Semblance”
Dust”, “American Anime”, “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Scythe”… The only thing he DIDN’T say was Ruby’s name out loud.
Next level copium to think a show will be fine when the company that made it shut down.

One potential answer for this could come from the Warner side. Since the IP is for sale. They may want to be able to offer it to any buyer without any existing contracts that mess with exclusivity.
Moral of the story: Don't be a fan, be an enjoyer. Don't obsess over a piece of media, just say that you like it. And this is coming from a white Hungarian who has Ruby Rose with a top hat and a bow tie as his profile picture.
I like Rwby. I do want it to come back. But I've seen both sides of the spectrum. People have harassed me for liking Rwby, and I've seen my former friends harassing people who don't like it. That's why I stay away from the fandom, and stick to my little bubble of Ruby Rose being one of my favorite human protagonists.
To be perfectly honest though, I never understood why people hate the show and say it got worse. Now I'm not judging if you don't like it, but everyone I've spoken to so far said they hate it because the story didn't go in the direction that they wanted. Which is understandable, but then why are you blaming "bad writing" for that?
Ever since Rooster Teeth got shut down, people around me refused to shut up about how Rwby is dead and it's never coming back, and it honestly felt really toxic.
But to clarify, I don't want Rwby to continue. I want it to end. What I mean by that is, I do like the show, but by now I really want to see how it concludes. I would be satisfied if they released just one more season where they wrap things up. But only if they do it well, of course.

Eight years ago, I would have been upset. Now, I just don't care. I was out after the terrible Volume 5 and haven't looked back since. From what I heard, after what they did to the plot and characters since then, it is for the best that it disappears forever.
For me, the best thing that came out of RWBY was the four trailer for the characters after that i lost interest.
At least the best silent girl neo's story ended in a good/fiting way.

If Warner is going to start doing the whole "it's my IP to sit on and do nothing with" that's kind of sad, but I feel like they should just sell it to like good smile (it might end up like BRS but that would be a better fate than death itself.)
They have Ruby coming to their “Multiversus” game, but that’s the only good news I know of so far…
My guess now is that Warner’s trying to figure out what to do with the franchise… Probably going have the RWBY setting be absorbed into the greater DC Comics cosmology fully after the 2 Justice League Crossovers (Teen Titans or Young Justice would have been better meshes in my thinking, but what’s done is done).
1:10, I heard that 9 would come to their own site after a full year, just like 4-8 did when they were new. I'm still waiting.
