Right... This is nothing new but I welcome it. My 2021 hilux has a yearly tax of 2300 euro because of emissions. If this system lowers that tax, great.
The question is, how much fuel efficiency gap compared to conventional engine or THS II? it has not yet explained in the video. If it is only 10%, why bother coz the car price increase would be higher than 10% lol.
Not only that imagine the extra cost of maintenance i doubt the belt will last normally with all of those extra load and when the special" alternator broke will also cost more than normal 😅
The 48-volt battery powers the electric motor, which is connected to the drive train. This electric motor assists the ICE during high-load applications such as during acceleration. It also functions as a generator to charge the battery and as a starter motor capable of starting the ICE.
@@TinkuTimepaas the mild hybrid system assists the engine, it cant do anything on its own, unlike full hybrids that can drive in full EV mode. Even if you double the batery capacity I think it would still perform its role of assisting the engine, you would need to overhaul the entire system
This is not something new. Just yesterday I "testdrived" mild hybrid Volvo XC40 and I din't like it. With 1.6 turbo it has very apparent turbo lag. Of course I don't know how Toyota implemented this approach, but it is nothing comparing to Toyota's regular Hybrids.
Idk why, but the way the presenter is speaking and providing the information on the system is kinda off. It feels like there are random pauses where there shouldnt be
My 2002 Prius has a thermal storage evaporator core. Stays cold for about a minute, even with the engine stopped. If similar technology is used in mild hybrids, they can stop their engines while maintaining cold air.

Because that is expensive to implement (See tacoma prices and compare it to prices of vehicles not in 1st world countries). This will most likely be used for basic hilux and fortuner vehicles to comply with stricter emission standards. It's not much, and it's basically an improvement on the basic star-stop systems along with some regen and engine assist.
If while overlanding in the middle of nowhere and hours and hours away from any help, and the hybrid system fails, can the vehicle still operate purely on the ICE? Or will the entire vehicle go into limp mode?
Supposedly can as it is not a Full Hybrid. It is just a Mild Hybrid. The motor & battery are there just to assist the engine a little bit, the wheel is driven by the engine in all conditions, at all times. Different from a full hybrid which the wheels can be driven by engine or motor independently or both.
Hybrid Diesel that is going to break the market, 👏
But it’s not a proper hybrid like Toyotas strong hybrids…
48V, and you call that hybrid?
Right...

It should be named as "Half cocked hybrid" or "Patchwork hybrid" TBH.
Just wondering Toyota mild hybrid won’t be the same like Ertiga mild hybrid? Just look from the old review from ertiga.

Released in NZ but when is it likely to come to Australia ?

Hybrid Diesel Fortuner coming in India by 2024
Why not in Hilux 🥺
whats the amperage? has any company made a mod for use with camping accessories like fridges, camping lights?
How long do the battery last?
Los mejores autos del mundo
Regarding the Hilux … How many amps does the new version of the alternator put out? Is it on the flywheel? Does it look like it’s adequately cooled?
suzuki also having this one, but somehow its 12volts very2 small compare to 48v
Is it the same as Suzuki's ISG mild hybrid system? Probably the result of Toyota Suzuki partnership.
ISG still using 12v to 48v plus it is using the regular alternator instead motor generator so not like toyota true 48v to 48v DC-DC
@@seogabonotjah6555 thanks 🙏 do you think its possible to convert the mild hybrid into a pseudo full hybrid by using a bigger battery ?

It's RPM, not RPMs.
If it is waterproof, why did water kill on test in Australia?
Does it stil have a 12v battery?
Yes
i never liked mild hybrid systems, this is no exception. it adds complexity, unlike the dual motor system in the prius which is very simple
why Toyota not implementing 48v battery system for their ICE car? 12v system wire's too big and bulky and too much heat generated
Will this Diesel hybrid also going to have 10 years RC validity in metro cities of India?
Any idea of hp gains compared to 2.8L GD Engine 201hp & 500nm of torque?
220hp & 545nm torque
*Why not Petrol Engine Hybrid provided*
its funny how now its mandatory to manufacture a with the ability to swim with the fishs regularly xD
how to jump start a 48V hybrid hilux without 12V start motor?
It still has a 12v starter motor, the generator/motor will start/stop the car when it’s warmed up
Why no mild hybrid for petrol engines
They want you buy new dpf
diesel + electric? put it on the hilux and we got a workhorse winner.
Petrol better, no dpf issues
Start stop system is new for Toyota 😅 because already existed since long time ago on other vehicles brand 😊
Just make IP68 vehicle like BYD YangWang U8 which can float on water for 30 minutes and sail 3km/h
When EPA gets dismantled. Are you finally going to bring Diesel option to North America? Lord knows, its needed on the Tundra.
