    My vet insisted on giving my 6-pound chihuahua the leptospirosis vaccine. By the time I got home and brought my dog inside, she collapsed on the floor. It was scary. Sadly, I think that my vet was motivated by money rather than my dog's health.

      My 15 month old pug had a focal seizure from interceptor and Vectra . It lasted over 5 minutes I have to move to Florida but will never give Any of these preventatives again. Even essential oils have caused seizures in dogs . So what can I do? Maybe apple cider vinegar or lemon and water .these chemicals are toxins they shorten their life I believe and also cause cancer .

    I used to live in a low heartworm area and since my dogs were inside most of the time, out to potty, I did not use heartworm prevention and never had a positive dog. However, I moved to the east coast (where heartworm is an issue) and adopted a rescue dog from NC. She came with heartworm. Yesterday she received her first treatment injection. In spite of receiving pain meds and steroids she cried off and on through the evening likely due to the arsenic used in the treatment which is extremely painful. She will need to repeat this process in a month and have at least 2 months of strict activity restriction to prevent embolisms as the heartworms are reabsorbed. Financially the treatment at over $2000 is painful for me as well. After this experience the monthly heartworm prevention seems like a pretty good deal. I would never want to watch another dog go through this pain 😢

    So I am just curious. I feed my cavalier King Charles spaniel raw and home cooked food for 3 years, she eats raw bones frequently, I brush her teeth sometimes ( not very cooperative:-( ), she has some on some tartar built up on some teeth. However, my friend’s dog, same breed, on kibbles since he was born, 2 years old, no bone, no brushing teeth, his teeth are soooo good, no tartar at all! I am glad for my friend and her dog, but I just don’t understand :-( Genetic ? And I am thinking of taking my dog to a dental cleaning --but kind of scary when I think about it

    We tried feeding our dog raw hamburger meat and steak for a few days and she had very bad diarrhea after. It would not clear up and we took her to the vet. They said she had e-coli and that raw meat that is processed may not be clean as it is handled by several people before it is packaged and can pick things up along the way. The best raw meat to feed them is from a freshly killed animal.

    My dog has to get full blood panel before a dental cleaning because she had IMHA after reaction to vaccines. That on top of the dental it’s sooo expensive. The first time she had a dental they said she had hair wrapped around the roots under the gums. Then last year she had a terrible swollen spot show up on one side of her face and they had to put her under to check her teeth. Turns out the swelling was actually under the skin and the vet called it a weed seed. It looked like a splinter. A $1400 splinter. Oh and one morning she was coughing and yelping every time she was chewing on her toys. Emergency Saturday morning and she had a piece of stick stuck in her gums and she was coughing because she had a junebug shell in her throat. 😂 She’s like a drunken toddler.

    I laughed sterically when she was talking about the worry, wart, and how it rubs off on your dog basically. A friend of mine is like that. And I swear to God, she can make her dog have G.I. issues just by stressing about it. She is trying to transition to a raw diet and she is doing it 1/3 of a cup at a time over about a three week.
    And if her dog has one stool, that's off during this whole process, she'll go back to kibble and start over again. I keep telling her not to do that but she's so worried that I think she's making her dog sick.

    • @elenadejesus7489
      @elenadejesus7489 7 місяців тому +1

      When you transition a dog from kibble to raw, you expect changes even runny stools for a short time. The dog needs to rid the body of all the ccrap that's in the kibble. Your friend is doing more harm than good when she changes its diet all the time back and forth. The changes in the stool might take a week or so till it rids itself of toxins as well. He or she might have to pooh more often as well till the body re-adjusts to biologically appropriate foods. Tell her to be patient and not to go back and forth with kibble and raw. That upsets the stomach. Look to raw feeding 101. Dr Karen Becker Dr Ian billinghurst. Know that just meat is not the way to go. They need organs, meats, bones, some supplements and some ground raw greens, ground pumpkin, squash, and some fruits, for phytonutrients just for extra nutrients. Green tripe is so good for them too. Raw Feeding Miami for tripe and foods if you don't want to give them store bought whole meats and bones. BJ's raw food for dogs and cats is an excellent choice as well.

      @@elenadejesus7489 oh, I have told her all of that. she has now actually transitioned her dog to Raw. The dog eats a combination of frozen raw and freeze dried. and her system is healed up enough that she can even eat a meal of kibble now and then without throwing everything off. so she is very happy now. It just took a long long time to get there.

    I couldn’t find any videos on that subject on your page. Most Vets and cardiologists don’t support supplements and want to medicate dogs at very early stages of the disease.
    My dog is stage B2 of MVD. I refuse to start meds and started on an aggressive protocol of obiquinol and a heart tincture that includes a mix of herbs that are known to improve heart function. I wish that was a topic we discussed more. Facebook groups are spreading misinformation and it breaks my heart that so many dogs are living a miserable life taking 5 heart meds and eating. prescription diet. As a society we need to be more open minded and ask more questions. Keep up the amazing work ❤️🙏🐾

      Not a vet: some things I've learned with my dog and any loud noises. She's always going to look to me and feel out my reaction. If loud noises don't scare me, but I'm worried about how she's going to react, she's going to pick up on that feeling of worry and think I'm fearing the situation and react similarly.
      I make sure I'm not looking at her for her reaction, instead I act like it's the happiest thing I've ever heard. We used to "celebrate" thunderstorms and fireworks. Praise their calm reaction with treats and pets!
      I found soundtracks online to practice this, try searching: "puppy socialization sounds".

      I keep my dogs inside on July 4th eve, as much as possible, and turn on the music in my home to use as a sound distraction for them. I turn it on a little louder than usual, too. I also walk them before dark so I get home long before the fireworks begin.
      Loud fireworks should be BANNED. There's no reason for them, ughhhhh. It's not just pets that they hurt, but also wildlife.
      VERY traumatizing and tragic, in the name of fun (hurting others while celebrating isn't my kind of fun).
      Also, when there is a loud boom, I notice they look to me to see my reaction, and I don't miss a beat, don't look at them, etc, and have NO REACTION, which helps keep them calm, as they take direction from my leadership.

    • @julialaw6471

      I used to breed great Danes. Had a pup that got parvo and $2000 later she died! A couple years later I had a whole litter come down with it. I researched online and found PARVOGUARD by Astra Zeneca. It's a mega immune booster and they pony expressed it in 12 hours. Saved my whole litter in less than 24 hours 🙏❤️! The veteranians denounced ANYTHING but their protocol which =$$$$$$ 🙄
      But it's magic 🙂👍! I always kept it on hand after that and it only cost me $40

    • @sammychannel960

      Parvo is extremely dangerous. Some breeds have genetically less ability to fight off the disease even when fully vaccinated. I worked in the veterinary field, mostly emergency, for over 10 years. Most dogs required hospitalization, IV fluids and IV as well as SubQ antibiotics in order to survive. I am a minimalist when it comes to vaccines but rabies is #1 on my list and the distemper parvo vaccine is #2. My dogs are mostly inside but because rabies is zoonotic, almost 100% fatal and a truly horrible death the vax risk is worth it to me.

      Take the dog to the Vet, if it does not subside. They can die from this if it continues or becomes Acute Pancreatitis.. Also don't feed your dog fatty foods, no human food as it will trigger Pancreatitis. If the dog has the runs/vomits, give it Immodium AD for the runs, Pepcid AC for vomiting, check dosage on line for the dogs weight and feed bland diet. Chicken and rice, not seasonings added, slowly reintroduce regular food after a few days Bone broth is ok too helps hydration.

    How rare is it for harm to occur to a dog due to the administration of a preventative dose of ivermectin (six micrograms of drug per kilogram of dog) to a dog who, it turns out, was already heartworm-positive ?

  • @cjr4497
    @cjr4497 7 місяців тому

    Heart Guard or similar will get your dog killed by heartworms in my area of Louisiana. I lost a great dane and almost lost a labrador to heartworms while on heartguard. My vet will only recommends Proheart large dogs because of this. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

    What's the earliest I can get my male puppy neutered?? It says 6 to 8 weeks is that dangerous??

    • @yvonnebullard4769
      @yvonnebullard4769 9 місяців тому +1

      I worked for an old school vet. He highly recommended waiting to neuter dogs until 11 months old. That way their urinary tract is mature and developed. The hormones that regulate mature development have a chance to work, avoiding so many problems in the future that come with underdevelopment. This is also important with male cats. The moment their urine changes to that strong musky smell, is the time to neuter them. They do not spray until they are at this more mature stage. You will avoid possible urine blockages from underdevelopment if you wisely wait. Just a note, orange cats develop and mature more slowly than others.

    • @sheilasmith7779

      Tina, why neuter him?
      The hormones are very good for your dog. My dog is not neutered, but If you want to, my holistic vet said to wait until at least 12months. The puppy benefits from the hormones.

      Dr. Judy (and several other holistic vets) don't recommend a pre-made RX diet. She has recipes for dogs with kidney issues. Bottom line, they don't recommend low protein unless in stage 3 or 4 of kidney failure. You can also reach out to a vet nutritionist. Some do virtual consultations. I really like Cam, the Dog Nutritionist. He can be found via his website and here on UA-cam.

      Well you have to make sure you get it from a good source. There are shoddy cbd suppliers that don't test their products for pesticides and heavy metals and use chemical extraction. Your friend probably didn't go w a reliable company. There's also the possibility that the dog was sensitive to CBD. Just like us, we all react differently.
