I don't think Intellivision Entertainment is going to last beyond Xmas 2021. They are bleeding money right now, plus the project is getting justly roasted left and right by small and big gaming UA-camrs and websites.
I saw what you did when you compiled the many parts of the 13 episodes of your awesome series, The Video Game Years, together into singular videos. But I gotta ask, what happened to lead to The Video Game Years being shut down? I mean, I'm an old school gaming guy and a bit of a historian, so I like learning about gaming history. But people have been clamoring for a return of the series for a look into the 1990s. Although, considering that it's been a full decade, it's unlikely the series will return.
Would argue there's never been any actual excitement for the Amico outside a very narrow group of retro gamers who were yearning for a reboot of the #3 most popular 2nd generation console. The excitement might be ruined for some them at this point and it probably should be. Outside of that group nobody knows what this is.
I think folks like us who are neck deep in this kind of stuff often forget we are all in a very tiny bubble of people. People outside that bubble have never heard of Tommy Tallarico or the Amico or Intellivision for that matter. Just look at the sales of those "physical" games. About 10,000 sold fairly quickly before it petered out and considering you had to buy packs of 4, we are talking about a group of people in the literal thousands who even give a shit about this. I really don't think people quite understand how bad this thing is going to bomb when it comes out. It's all just a grand illusion. A few thousand diehards, a washed up pseudo-celebrity playing CEO and some desperate youtubers who may or may not have taken a cheque or two from said washed up pseudo-celebrity.
@@devilmikey00 i think the same as well lol. Makes me laugh with the testimonials at the events when people bring up how low the cost of the video games are. It makes me wonder "do they know the cost of the console itself?".
Me and my brother were initially interested as a family console that we would split the cost over. Thought it would make a good review and could get like 5 minutes of enjoyment out of lol.
I can already picture Tommy's Q&A: - Tommy, how do you manage to look so young and handsome? - What is your favorite Amico game? - How does it feel to have so many awards? - What Amico colors would you want to see in the future? - How many LEDs are on the system? - How much does it take to charge an amazing Amico controller? - Where can I buy Amico games? - How can I invest? And the though question: - Is Earthworm Jim going to be 4 players? :)
The big thing against Tommy is his sleazy, used car salesman language. "Maybe we have more stored info on the RFID cards". Why not just say if it does? It's just like his "Wouldn't that be something". He wants the fanboys to repeat it as "we have more encrypted info on the RFID card" and then when that turns out to be false, Tommy will claim "I never said for sure we did. You just assumed that." He did this before with "physical media". When people asked if there was a cart slot, he never said "No". What he did say was stuff like "Maybe we have a way to deliver the game on an SD card or something". His shills then said "Tommy confirmed they can be installed offline with an SD card" and Tommy would never correct that misstatement. Tommy continued to play coy on what was in the box until they went up for sale. Now that we know for sure there's no SD card or physical media in the box, he's falling back on the "I never said there were carts in the box. Ha ha ha! Learn to read better". Again, not the actions of a CEO. They're the actions of a Scumbag Seller of the Week.
The parasocial relationship between them and TT is bizarre. They were also picked because they don’t have much idea what it means to be an investor. Such as, requiring to disclose your investment in a product if you wish to promote it. This is the Bitconnect of game consoles.
@@ccricers And like most narcissists, Tommy believes if he just talks to someone long enough, he can convince them on anything. That's why he so miffed if he invites a reporter or critic and they refuse. And that may work on a few weak-minded individuals ("You don't need physical media and these aren't the droids you're looking for." "I don't need physical media...") but how's that going to work in the long run? Is Tommy going to spend hours a day at the local Best Buy and mansplain to every "Mom 2.0" that glances at the Amico on the shelf why getting a Switch is only "if you like child rape games"?
Saying a lot of things is one thing. But imagine just how crazy it'd look if he shut his mouth, sat down at a computer, tapped the card to an RFID reader, and just displayed the contents on the terminal. It'd be on the levels of _How to trade games on the PS4_ levels of riposte. Of course, that would only cause such a reaction because he finally took a direct action instead of taking the longest way around while avoiding the topic.
Having to tap the card every time wouldn't even do anything to deter people stealing the games, rfid chips are trivially easy to spoof. Just look at people making bootleg amiibo cards.
So your argument is people are going to spend money to spoof a game for a system they aren't going to buy when it costs 2.99 to buy the game directly from intellivision?!?!
Really? People are actually making bootleg Amibo cards? I can't imagine these games being good enough to warrant such an effort, trivial as that effort might be.
@@goopah The Amiibo thing is still shockingly popular, but the real reason IMO is A: if something can be hacked, or B: it can be knocked off and sold, somebody is going to do it. Especially if it's easy, and especially if it's Nintendo. And in some places all they can obtain or sometimes all they can afford is knock-off stuff.
@@goopah Well Nintendo has tied DLC to amibo's so it's more about not wanting to pay for some useless overpriced bobble to get the DLC tied to it. Especially when they are doing it like they just did with the skyward sword thing. $25 bucks for a toy and a feature that people have been asking for since 2011. Cheaper to buy a stack of programable NFC cards off amazon and just program them yourself with a phone if the company is going to start doing that shit.
While all of those items on the list are valid, the list blows it by ignoring the #1 thing that has ruined excitement for the Amico. TT. No, I'm not talking about Ted Turner, Tanya Tucker or even Tim Tebow. That'd be our pal, Tommy Tallarico. He has repeatedly dug the hole deeper everytime he's spoken, and, he has done more to wreck the Amico than a full spread of photon torpedoes ever could. When the Amico flops - and I'm being generous at this point in even assuming it comes out - he'll be the #1 reason. With that said, after 3 delays, when does this "amazing console" ever come out? Smarch 13th at 13:00 am? The 12th of Never in the year 2525? Stardate 95976? Moments before the Heat Death of the Universe? Anyway, yeah. More than 10 reasons to lose excitement over the You Can't Do That On Intellivision. But #1 should've been Tommy, and #2 should be the eternal delays that will lead to the Amico hitting shelves shortly after Commodore releases the Commodore 64000 and the VIC-2000. (Edited to add after finishing the video): The whole thing about the FCC sounds like BS to me. For some time now, I've believed this is never going to come out. And my guess is now he's setting up the FCC to be the scapegoat when the Amico never comes out. I always thought he'd find a way to blame Pat and Ian, but, now I wonder if he'll just blame the mean ol' FCC. He sure as hell won't blame himself.
Tommy saying "You don't need FCC certification to start manufacturing" is the ultimate in being a technical troll and a dishonest debater. It's like a criminal arguing "It wasn't me pushing the guy off the roof that killed him. It was the sudden stop when he hit the ground". This does tell us that IE still doesn't have FCC certification (because why make that silly argument other than to rationalize not having it by now?) and they that likely failed their last submission (again!). Months ago, Nick Richards had said they were making their final submission and would have certification "within a few weeks". It's been way longer than that. He also let slip they had submitted before and failed "on a few minor issues". So that kind of destroys the massive spinning by the Amico fanboys that is going on at AtariAge. They're trying to rationalize with "Well this is just a paperwork thing. All these parts have been certified before, so it's just a formality for the system as a whole" or even "they can wait until the last minute to keep their trade secrets away from Nintendo and Sony". AHAHHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHA!
And much more simply: If this thing doesn't certify, it doesn't leave the borders. From my vague understanding, most countries have an agreement with the FCC so that their certification is valid outside the borders. Hand assembly to bypass the certification isn't entirely out of the question, even if it is completely insane and would more likely end with a whistleblowing. Of course, he _could_ forge it, but I can't imagine an act of forgery against the FCC would be a lasting idea. Pointedly though: I think Tommy's starting to get paranoid due to all the government probing; as if investors loading their lawyers with shotguns loaded with pellets wasn't enough, I imagine he'll go on a tirade soon about how you can't trust any of the three letter organizations.
@@XanthinZarda it will just get stopped at port of entry. If your paperwork isn’t complete they won’t release your goods. I do this daily for work. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens. Port storage fees are no joke.
Not for nuthin' but... if Tommy is promoting family time but his big seller for that is Cornhole... wouldn't the obvious thing be for parents to make a physical cornhole set WITH their kids (a fun activity) and then actually play it in the yard? A lot cheaper and a lot more fun family togetherness...
Also it's portable, requires no power, and you can literally make one out of scrapwood, old cloth, and a cheap bag of dry beans for around what...10$ if you spring for the holistic & organic dried beans?
I never had any interest in this project to begin with, but I keep coming back for these vids because of how fun it is to watch this dude melt down. I can't stop watching and I just have to be there when he fails and goes away, this stuff is prime hatewatching material.
Same for me 😂. I started to play with Atari in the 80s, but I cannot see myself go back and play simple games like we had at that time. PS5 all the way!
@@madjoe8622 i see nothing wrong with enjoying a classic now and again, but as Pat and Ian have pointed out numerous times the bar of entry is too high for this console lol.
Well there was the Souljaboy console, which was wildly entertaining. The Amico is damn good entertainment value for free. Just from watching the stupidity.
Tommy's narrative this week is that his "transparency" is being used against him, so now he's going to keep quiet. We'll see. He's made that promise before but lasted about three days before going back to his diarrhea-style of posting). 1) One posting a lot is not the same as "transparency". Most of Tommy's posts are "Wouldn't that be something" and 'What's your favorite music/movie/snack food from the 80s". 2) The real questions that people want answered like "How exactly can I transfer games with an NFT?" or "Do I need the card to use the game every time" he refuses to answer directly and whenever someone does ask he claims it's "harassment". 3) If you tell the truth, it can't be "used against you". Tommy gets in trouble because he says stuff that turns out to be false or he contradicts himself. Take the whole "exclusive" thing. Tommy and his fanboys claim the haters (which includes all the press except Nintendolife) are "obsessed" with exclusives. Now they are saying "what's the big deal about ports and exclusives?". They pretend this came out of nowhere when the person who made it "a big deal" was TOMMY. It was one of the big pillars of the Amico. He may pretend it was something he casually mentioned once and then "clarified" what he meant by "ports" and "exclusives". But that's a total lie. He went on dozens of interviews and whenever someone said "why not just get a Switch" Tommy would go a fifteen minute rant about "All our games will be exclusive! You will not be able to get them anywhere else." That and "We're only $180" were the big selling points. Now both of those pillars are gone, so then the original question (why buy this thing?) comes back into play.
@Lassi Kinnunen 81 You can always tell a bad liar or a conman- they overexplain everything without giving the details you ask for. They also instead of answering your question, they'll just ask another question ("why is that important to you? What about X?") or answer a completely different question than what you asked ("Thanks. I do think I'm the smarted guy you know"). A good example was when CFO Nick Richards was asked "have you passed FCC certification?" he didn't say "no". What he gave instead was a rambling, minutes long spiel about "We've pass this test, and this test- and that's really the toughest test... and we are looking at submitting the last few tests- and those are really simple tests that take no time to pass...and we expect to start manufacturing immediately after certification....". He was hoping people weren't paying attention and dozed off after all his droning on and on because simply saying "no" shows they're way behind schedule.
Offering several lies is not transparency. Handwaving obvious shortfalls is not transparency. Whining and moaning about critics instead of delivering is not transparency.
4:00 Online Leaderboards are bad, and invariably, the top spots are ALWAYS hackers/cheaters. Having a leaderboard only encourages that type of behavior.
A FAQ should be written from the lay consumer. The stuff you’ll get from AA is gonna be different than the questions a 70 year old Grandma will ask/need to know.
It's funny to me how the Coleco Chameleon/VCS tried to bring cartridges back with games that are finished and never have to be upgraded and here we are selling physical games that might not even exist.
@Lassi Kinnunen 81 All the Coleco Chameleon games that were featured in its preview videos back then had all migrated to the EverCade and Retro-Bit RetroCade. The two Cade consoles are what Coleco Chameleon left behind.
My guess is that getting FCC certification requires some sort of fee. The only possible reason I can see why they would do it like this is if they just desperately need every penny for everything else right now and are waiting for some cash injection before they "pull the trigger". The physical game packs perhaps?
17:55 So from what I understand (having been involved in the actual *testing* but not the formal certification process), it's a self-certification thing you do with an independent lab and you submit the paperwork to the FCC when the lab says you pass. They could have the paperwork from the lab saying they pass and just haven't submitted it to the FCC yet. The main reason not to do this is that that paperwork will contain details of the product that you might not want to be public too far ahead of ship (since the FCC does publicize them afaik). Since the Amico isn't anything super groundbreaking I can only assume that they're paranoid it will reveal problems with the product (e.g. using high supply chain risk parts) that they don't want the public or potential investors to find about about--or they might be afraid that someone might try to buy their parts out from under them maybe?
FCC certs are a binary thing. The system either passes or it doesn't. There's no almost, or just a few. One transmitter can pass all day because it is operating alone on a standard. When you test emissions on everything at once, what it generates as a whole unit is the entire ball game. Nothing else matters. You fail, you redesign. That he is clueless about the process is the most embarrassing part, but he's too clueless to know he should be embarrassed.
You know he is going to ship it and then it will just sit at the port because it doesn’t pass. I see it all the time. Then they have to pay to either return shipping or pay to have it destroyed.
It's hopeless. This isn't 1979. The gaming hardware industry is a land of GIANTS now. The classic mini craze (as much as it was loved) has passed. Those systems were launched by big players still in the game with relevant flagship titles of their days, many of which still exist in franchised form, or are well known IPs. Intellivision isn't really remembered for any unique blockbuster games, and so far they are only 'promising' great exclusive 3rd party titles. The price is just a big red flag on their overall financial mismanagement. Amico isn't just late to the party, they're showing up to the wrong address without a gift.
I like how Tommy's answer to many things is to act like the question is stupid and should be obvious, so obvious that he doesn't have the time to just answer it then but points to an FAQ that will never come out.
If Tommy and Co. were any way concerned with the negative feedback due to a slew of reasons at this point they'd seriously consider releasing the ENTIRE Intellivision back catalog for free as an 'apology ' or a 'perk' to those who continue to support this facade.
Who is even going to produce games for it? Didn't they say at some point licensing fees were 50 percent? So at 10 bucks a pop the game developer sees 5? Let's be generous and assume the intial install is around 100000. General attach rates are around 20 percent so 100000 grand a game subtract dev costs. I mean a 2 or 3 person crew could do alright on those kinds of returns but they're not going to be producing system sellers so the install base will never grow. So the only people making games for it are going to be small teams producing quick cheap software or games produced through some subsidy like the German games being produced via tax credits. Again unlikely to be any system sellers in that grouping. Which means the only people left to produce 'big' system sellers that could grow the install base are intellivison themselves. And that would take a hefty amount of capital available right now to fund those games at a loss since they have zero product to sell. Is anyone actually deluded enough to think that this company has spare millions lying around to fund first party development of multiple high quality, exclusive games that could potentially move enough hardware units to produce an intial large enough install base to attract more substantial developers?
Someone's probably brought this up already, but if he's going on about how you don't need FCC certification until you sell the product...that kind of implies they're not currently manufacturing any, either. Or he is just completely mad and taking an unnecessary risk.
For the 'physical products' packs that they just sold...We know all of the games are incomplete. So how can they already pass the ratings board for their content? How can they have even been tested or debugged? The biggest issue however is the fact that they only sold these in multi-packs because that means that if they only finish 1 or 2 games at a time over many months, people are going to be very mad owning 2 games that work and 6 that don't.
I don't intend to buy an Evercade yet. But I have to give it credit, it seems to be a fantastic product. Intellivision whishes it could put out half of what has been released with the Evercade.
@Lassi Kinnunen 81 Yep. It has the original Intellivision games plus they get indie games. So the amico fanatics can't say that the Evercade Vs only plays old outdated games.
I love how he’s saying you have to touch the chip to the console every time you boot it up. Even the NES could have the cartridge left in it if you wanted to play the same game again next time. We are regressing lol
@Marc Carran I wonder if the cards are magnetically shielded? Like if you rubbed a magnet on them, would it scramble or erase the data? I can't imagine that the cards were built up to a standard. Makes one wonder what it'd take to damage them, even accidentally.
Honestly, Amico doesn't ruin my excitement for Intellivision. I would rather play the 40 year old console (that will work long after Amico is dead and buried) than wait another 3 years for Tommy to figure out how to release his dream console. Somebody has to stop people from being fools for this thing. And the investors should require Tommy to learn manufacturing terminology and protocols.
Cell phone quality games on a home console? Where have I heard that before? 🤔 Surely there isn't a famously unsuccessful microconsole that did that in 2013 or so.
I find it funny that Tommy is all about simple family friendly casual games yet I distinctly remember him on Electric Playground saying how he thought the Wii was lame.
I thought the atari vcs was a myth because I never saw it at any Walmart or target in my city. I saw the atari vcs at best buy of all places and I thought I had a stroke. My wife asked me about it and I told her. My wife then said, you have your retropie and you have lots of fun with that. I told her exactly, this thing is lamesauce.
“You’re going to run out of games to play…” In 15 minutes. There’s (possibly) 6 mini-games that might be finished in the future. I mean, we always had an enterprising kid in school who could put Snakes on your graphing calculator. Now, in my neighborhood, we have coding academies for kids to go to after school. So they’ll be making “Ski” equivalents in their spare time. As for Tommy mentioning that nefarious people are trying to steal “$10 games;” aren’t the games more expensive now? So he’s overcharging early supporters?
The reason they won't proceed with the FCC filing at this stage is because all FCC filings are publicly accessible. They contain schematics, internal photos, documents, radio output, and all information required for such a filing, and are free for anybody to search. This would allow anybody with a bit of knowledge to look up the IC part numbers used, and reveal the exact technical specifications.
Well, I don't know about Ian's mobile phone comment, since I've never had one (not counting ones which I was given for work, which stayed at work and never went home with me or to lunch). Point made though in terms of a market for an MP3 player, FM radio, ereader, minitablet and GPS (like the old Galaxy Player devices) just doesn't exist outside of a few holdouts like me, because smart phones are now ubiquitous.
@@F1JV They aren't even necessarily underpowered anymore are they? The new Samsung ones have SD 888s. A lot more powerful than the few remaining new wifi mini tablets like the Lenovo M7 or Amazon Fire 7. As much as I hate them, it's actually becoming a pain in the arse not to have a mobile, because it's the assumed means of communication and verification these days.
@@Joric78 …so you’re saying that you don’t even have a basic cellphone for calls…for emergency calls when out & about? Like…you have your landline long distance calling call & look for a pay phone?
@@F1JV Yeah, I've never had a mobile aside from the ones I used at work. I don't call people when I'm out and about. Only time I've felt the lack was when my engine seized in the middle of dingo whoop whoop at 3am and I had to walk to the nearest town during heavy rain wearing full leathers. I caught a bus at 7am. It was only because I was just a few hours east of the state capital that I felt the lack though. Only just over a quarter of the country has mobile coverage anyway.
Just Think. The Amico could have been a direct rival to the Evercade. Could have had retro games and some modern ports to make it a little different. Missed opportunity.
I feel like I'm saying something similar every couple videos after going down the rabbit hole but the more I hear about it and Tommy or whoever say about it all I can think is why would anyone get behind this and especially give money towards it
Doesn't the required taping the card in offline mode mean they'll need two different versions of each game? One download from the store and one with the custom offline card check?
We know nothing about the Amico games, no. We do. Shipped in packs (so you can't even choose) as digital code redemptions with an NFT coin. Amico is probably a huge pump and dump, and kickstarter scam all rolled into one. The reason we don't have gameplay of those other games is probably because they don't actually exist, and possibly never will. People I follow like Rich of ReviewTechUSA have already ordered the console, and it still doesn't exist yet. MASSIVE red flags of a scam are going off in my noggin. I would start calling the FBI to investigate a potential pump and dump scam.
I just pre-ordered the *Evercade VS* console with the two controllers and two arcade cartridges (Technos and Data East). The cost of $129.99 for the system, two controllers and eighteen games seems fair. That being said, it doesn't come with an HDMI cable or an AC adapter.
I want the Premium version of the Evercade VS console because I like the black color consoles cause of various reason like dirt, stain, and others. Also you be getting more games than the standards console so yeah but its only exclusive in the UK but US might get it later.
@@TimmiiGamingChannel The black console does look a little cooler, but I do really like the look of the white one, also. What's that about more games, though? 🤔
I pre-ordered founders edition and can't wait to play it. About missing cables, not a problem for me, I have plenty hdmi and power cables laying around and I don't mind not getting more. I understand that not everyone is in the same position but since it's targeted towards gamers, I wonder if there's more people that ordered VS, that have spare cables laying around or less.
I had an intellivision and loved it growing up. It can not work in today's game market. I played the hell out of the tron game, sea battle, the math game you made monkeys run down a river and who can forget BEEEE SEVENTEENE BAAAWWWMBER. I even had the voice unit. I would never touch this machine nostalgia isn't enough to get me to try this.
This is what kills me about the amico. If Keith Robinson was still alive and spearheading this from the beginning, it would be a much different product and would be run correctly and great games would be made for it, and things would be better and honest too.
I bet tallarico could have made this whole thing work if instead of the family-friendly Switch competitor concept, he appealed to affluent boutique retro people. Sell it overpriced and lax for features, but make it a limited run with a good ad campaign. Genuinely selling on the Intellivision brand, it might pass for a nostalgia set-piece to goofy rich people.
I’ll defend switch library too and I just need one game to do it; Breath of the Wild. No I’m not a fanboy, actually think BOTW flawed in ways…well in ways that great games nearing true perfection usually are. But like so, an amico game, what at least $40? For something, I mean back in day play more, but by today’s standard subpar engagement level of a mobile game for $40. Or pay twice that for BOTW and arguably receive a game with gameplay hours alone that equals, ya know like 5 games for one almost when compared to price and length of something like COD vs BOTW. So ya, not only are more games on switch but ones you’ll enjoy on it likely provide far more value than a $40 digital access key to a nostalgia trip. Also ya Ian’s right, I used program RFID tags, actually company worked for invented first ever tag could be read simultaneously. But they were nightmare for bandwidth, never left prototype stage while I worked there and most common issue in for them was dropping their channel because data overflow and get “stuck” on tag. These were not small either, tag was but housing essentially minic’d piece of data cabling where tag would phsyically plug into data panel. Umm, so ya Tommy don’t know shit about RFID obvi. Supposed use to pass along or check data, not storage XD Oh and our tags were for cattle feed intake systems so security was a who cares, oh ya use your scanner go hard, you find out how low on water intake this month heifer #323 is lolololol
Every time I think this hole can't be dug any deeper, Tommy finds yet another shovel and just keeps going! These steps aren't just a suggestion, it makes business sense. It's like arguing with someone who has an answer for everything even if they don't make a lick of sense but you look into their eyes to see they whole heartedly believe this nonsense! Oooh when is this song and dance going to make it to the nain event?
Nintendo ate their target audience up and yet still didnt have issues supporting titles like No More Heroes III, Mortal Kombat, and MH Rise on that same exact platform. I dont think we should stop stressing that point.
I have a bit of a thought occurring. What causes the RFID cards to actually verify a valid URL to the Amico? Or to rephrase: What prevents someone from tapping the Amico with a card that just so happens to lead to a malware APK that's meant to wipe all partitions? Addendum: Turns out Slopes Game Room (a Fig investor) has *_two_* interviews with TT lined up. One about "Nostalgia" (from a guy who wouldn't know it if it bit him in the face) and about the Amico itself. I hope he loudly discloses that he's an investor during these; but it's going to do harm to his reputation unless it turns out he's been biding his time to get chummy so he can rip TT a new one.
@Lassi Kinnunen 81 Sure. But as the cards supposedly work now (as they've been scanned) suggests that they point to a URL. Say I spoof a card for the Amico to read; what sanity check if any would there be?
I wouldn't say the most overrated, but I would agree that a lot of noise has been made about it coming to the Amico considering the game was never a system seller.
Let me be the straight shooter here: I am in the Amico target market and yes, we exist. Every week we're serenated with another video on why the Amico shouldn't be a thing, why it will fail, etc. I'm not affiliated with the company, I haven't preordered the Amico, etc. I'm just a casual, once a week gamer that doesn't care for online gaming or the constant headache of downloading 50GB patches that come with online gaming. I have plenty of money to spend on games - the Amico's asking price is McDonald's money, actually. I want a simple gaming experience and then I want to move forward with my life for the next week. The Amico wasn't designed for hardcore gamers like Pat and Ian and this is honestly why I believe they rail on the company so hard. You either can't understand what casual gamers want OR you're upset that this console isn't designed for you. If you own an XBOX or Playstation, congrats, you're a PC gamer. Meanwhile, Nintendo recycles the same things over and over. I check none of those boxes and I'm looking for something different. Amico is just that. Tommy and his gang are trying to spearhead a brand new console in the midst of a global pandemic and during a severe microchip shortage. They also do not having the funding to compete with Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo so they are finding creative ways to compete and I'm a fan of that, honestly. Podcasts like this one that constantly bash the Amico have actually led me TO Amico because I'd rather support the small guy as opposed to handing my money to a company like Microsoft.
Check out the article summarizing the souring of Amico excitement here: www.cbr.com/intellivision-amico-things-ruined-excitement-console/

About 10,000 sold fairly quickly before it petered out and considering you had to buy packs of 4, we are talking about a group of people in the literal thousands who even give a shit about this. I really don't think people quite understand how bad this thing is going to bomb when it comes out. It's all just a grand illusion. I always thought that was someone doing a tommy impression 😅
BoooOOOoomm!
Oh I can. Tommy makes himself look like a real idiot, half the time.
Are they literally EXPECTING to fail FCC certification just so they can blame the FCC for that the Amico never came out in the end?!
Ahhh, the fourth delay!
Exactly!

Intellivison should seriously consider dropping Tommy and hire podcast Tommy. That guy could inject excitement into any terrible product.
I think the Shamwow guy would be a good spokes person for it lol
I still have excitement every time you two talk about it. 🤪
The anti piracy system is crappy games nobody wants.
I gotta say, I'm really gonna miss this saga of the podcast if and when the dust ever settles on this thing
There should be a movie made from it
While all of those items on the list are valid, the list blows it by ignoring the #1 thing that has ruined excitement for the Amico.
AHAHHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHA!
haha great comment ! 😂
That also more or less confirms they haven't even started mass production yet, so release is still a ways off...
The cognitive dissonance is saying Amico doesn’t compete with Nintendo, but also saying they are expecting Nintendo to take notice.

He was hoping people weren't paying attention and dozed off after all his droning on and on because simply saying "no" shows they're way behind schedule.
to be fair : CFO nick richards has been too busy `hunting` prairie dogs to help finish the amico ..
Offering several lies is not transparency. Handwaving obvious shortfalls is not transparency. Whining and moaning about critics instead of delivering is not transparency.

It's listed as typically between 3,000 and 5,000 but may cost more.
@@vxicepickxv Is it one of those fun things where repeat testings increase in price just because you're wasting the lab's time?
Or oops, someone runs the numbers and figures out the markup is over 250%.
They want to fail FCC cert for a 'valid' excuse to delay and ask for more money; then pretend to act all surprised and appalled it happened.
Amico isn't just late to the party, they're showing up to the wrong address without a gift.
and the other thing I wanted to say: Wait, there was excitement for this in the first place?
I like how Tommy's answer to many things is to act like the question is stupid and should be obvious, so obvious that he doesn't have the time to just answer it then but points to an FAQ that will never come out.
I like how Ian will correct Pat about shocked "SOCKED" but then go and say redux as "re-ducks"
Hey come on guys! Stay excited! Footbaths are really nice actually!
My excitement for the Amico has been peaking for like a year, I am so close to finishing just a little more

I mean, I was excited to watch the drama unfold, it’s just getting a little played out now 🥲
Someone's probably brought this up already, but if he's going on about how you don't need FCC certification until you sell the product...that kind of implies they're not currently manufacturing any, either. Or he is just completely mad and taking an unnecessary risk.
For the 'physical products' packs that they just sold...We know all of the games are incomplete. So how can they already pass the ratings board for their content? How can they have even been tested or debugged? The biggest issue however is the fact that they only sold these in multi-packs because that means that if they only finish 1 or 2 games at a time over many months, people are going to be very mad owning 2 games that work and 6 that don't.
it`s because Hans and Tommy conned the Bavarian government , and that helped give them a `free pass` !

I was at Fyre Festival, had a blast 💥 pal. Most of the crap, yes crap you see about it is biased fake reporting. That Hulu movie was a lie.
I can see after the release the amico sells for 25$ at K.B. Toys in the discount bin.
Big big big news
You guys need to talk about the Paprium kickstarter that's going on now if you haven't already.
These Amico updates cured my depression.
They should sell this on infomercials at midnight. Old people would see the commemorative coin and be sold.
HAHAHAHA!!
Supposed use to pass along or check data, not storage XD
Oh and our tags were for cattle feed intake systems so security was a who cares, oh ya use your scanner go hard, you find out how low on water intake this month heifer #323 is lolololol
1 new game after every 14 days? Nah, maybe 40 at best...
Spoiler Alert: _YES_ 🙄🤑
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but is the whole ending of Am(ico) supposed to be a reference to Tommy Talar(ico)? Or however it's spelled.
@Marc Carran wasn't sure. I know he likes the spotlight. Lol
And I imagine he wanted it to be _Coleco_ for a rule of 3 rhyme.
Too bad someone beat him to the -scam- punch.
Jenovi is the homey, he makes great stuff. I tried to warn him about the Amico Mafia.
Hey Pat! Congrats on 250 000 subs. Finally. Nice to see!
I bet the switch can emulate the amico ez
Nintendo ate their target audience up and yet still didnt have issues supporting titles like No More Heroes III, Mortal Kombat, and MH Rise on that same exact platform. I dont think we should stop stressing that point.
Something about the Amico?
(Pressing play immediately)
Can't wait for the Intellivision Answering Machine to release
I'm starting to get real "Springtime for Hitler" vibes from this thing and am beginning to assume the "creator" wants it to fail.
@Lassi Kinnunen 81 Correct. It's just interesting to speculate about.
If you have to tap the card before every game this is almost as bad as the Mattel hyper scan
I hope Voicemail Tommy doesn't take his frustration out on Kayfabe Frank.
Youre supposed to find your blue ocean, tommy found a dirty puddle.
Theyre in deep water now, Shark Shark.
Each "game" card must come with a Faraday cage to protect the code.
Earthworm Jim is the most overrated game of all time.
I'm going to disagree with that statement because Daikatanna exists. Wait, that was overhyped. My mistake.
I wouldn't say the most overrated, but I would agree that a lot of noise has been made about it coming to the Amico considering the game was never a system seller.
_"But before people call us idiots"_ ...then goes on to describe an idiotic solution.
🤡
I don't believe they have the rights for the Intellivision games 7:30
You're objectively wrong and insanely stupid
