Can attest to how incredible, humble and inspirational Matt Greiner is. I invited him to come to a cafe I was working at in New Zealand via Facebook and he showed up, twice! He hung out and we chatted. He asked if I knew about the festival he was playing at while he was in town. I told him I did, but I couldn't afford the ticket at the time as they were crazy expensive. He then gave me two door spots for myself and a friend. On top of that he freakin killed it, as he does every night. Never stop shining that light, Matt. What may seem like small gestures of kindness make a lasting impact in people's lives. Love you bro. God Bless!
He's definitely super cool. Shared a pizza one time at guitar center when I worked there and he came in for a snare workshop for his snare company - definitely hasn't let fame go to his head
DO NOT STOP THIS SERIES!!!! Insane production quality, genre-bending performances, and the opportunity to learn about musicians I'd otherwise never know
@7 Logik Yep, when I think of alot of Christians and the scary Christian nationalist movement attempted to be enacted in our country and their war against how people were born, I think of humble lol. It has to do with who you are as a person, not your religion. He just happens to be one of the good ones.
The writing and arranging Sput, Lettieri, and others are doing for this is really unbelievable. There needs to be some sort of recognition for this. Dudes are creating new genres on the fly. And the execution by the band too.
Trey Fontenet yeah no they haven’t. I’d ask you to link one example but I know you can’t. Sure it’s a fusion of genres and fusion is a long-standing thing but I haven’t heard metal incorporated in this way maybe outside of Tigran Hamasyan, but even he isn't using this instrumentation. Point is, it is notably novel writing and arranging.
I'd kill for sput to do a production clinic. At this point I'd be willing to put him on the level of Mike League as a music writer/producer. The amount of ideas he has could be split up between 3 different instrumental bands lol who all play different genres.
@The Monotone Man Between The Buried And Me would like a word with you. Progressive metal bands in general have been doing this kind of shit for years though.
Seeing a metal drummer in this context.. makes me so happy. I love metal, but also music like Snarky Puppy. To see Matt play with sax players etc. with these orchestrations is just awesome.
What's good about this video is the people. Scrolling through the comment section I realised its not just ABR fans in the house, but a good number of people who have never heard of Matt Greiner until this session. I'm am so proud of you Matt. You deserved this!!!!
What an awesome, humble dude, and a killer drummer. It's cool that they brought in a metal guy among a group that's mostly filled with jazz and R&B guys too.
While I haven't listened to August Burns Red consistently in years, they really were my first metalcore obsession. Matt was my first drumming love and his masterful drumming really inspired me to lean into more and more music. Along the way I ran into Snarky Puppy, and by extension of course, Sput and the rest of his work. So funny and amazing to see one of the coolest, most humble, and cleanest drummers out there pairing up with Sput and the rest of Ghost-Note like this. It's truly the craziest dreams of my high school self come true. And of course, they all killed it.
Same (except I still listen to abr all the time). As a preteen/teen I listened to mostly metal, but I've really branched out over the years and listen to a little bit of everything now. It's so cool to see 2 of my favorite drummers from some of my favorite groups in completely different genres come together like this. I wish there was a lot more crossover and collaborating between different genres especially metal and jazz/fusion. There's so much talent in both genres.

Matt Greiner... never heard of this machine until I saw this. What a drummer.
Martin Rockport Check out the band August burns red. Hes the drummer for that band. Really dope band👌🏽🤘🏽
Martin Rockport he’s one heck of a drummer. Super versatile too!
He plays for my favorite band and one of the best if not the best band in the metalcore scene. August burns red
How?
Dude is a walking metronome. Unreal drummer
That bass solo was a real treat.

Exactly!
haha
Eloy Casagrande - Sepultura 🔥
This is definitely more proggy fusion metal tho... it just fits ghost note better

Modern rock-Jazz prog?
Progressive Jazzcore
1. It sounds like jazz metal

It really sounds like DT

couldn't have said it better myself
More like panzerballet but a little bit less crazy.
Reminds me of Thank You Scientist
Zildjian - "Matt, break into the song easy"
Matt - "I'll see what I can do"
This man is anointed. No doubt about. He plays the drums like a warrior of God.
