Every kid wanted to play basketball like Michael Jordan, the same goes for every kid that wanted to play drums like Dennis Chambers. True legend.
💯
i love this comment
absolutly
My 2 hands and 2 feet play almost as well as one of his limbs so I feel pretty good about that.
The whole truth.
OMG I FELT LIKE THIS DAY WOULD NOT GET HERE SOON ENOUGH.... Dennis Chambers is THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. He is my all time favorite drummer and I would never be the musician i am with out him being who he is. So dope to see him killing it here. I hope and pray he is around many more years inspiring the world of drumming. AMAZING PERFORMANCE FROM THE LEGEND.
AMEN ERIC!!!!
dennis is th goat. i remember seeing him for the first tme when i was 14. i was blown away and still to this day am never dissapointed by any performance of his

You and Tony royster jr
@@zenamoore6733 Eric is now a Paiste artist, so..
but yeah Tony should be there
Man the percussionist is absolutely killing it. SO much spice he's adding to the song.
That percussionist is a beast
For those who don't know, the cap guy at the keyboards is an amazing drummer too: Robert Sput Searight.
@@debased6141 "MonoNeon", the bassist
Holy fuck. You weren't kidding. He's awesome!
Sput is so badass that he’s sponsored by Meinl and leads a Zildjian show
Binky
Binky
It is inconceivable to me that anyone would give this a thumbs down .
You are heartless man .
Dennis isn't hiding the fact that his health not what it once was.
He went up there with coursge , dignity., and honor !
He doesn't have to go up there and over excert himself to prove anything.
Dennis is one of the most influential drummers / musicians - in the history of music.
He has influenced drummers / musicians from every genre of music :
Rock , heavy metal , jazz , RnB , Fusion Funk , hip hop , Neo soul , latin , latin jazz , Acid jazz , Big band , Gospel , drum n bass ....
The list is endless.
Dennis is one the of the most sought after drunmers in history for sessions and tours.
He has held the drum seat for some of the greatest musical artists in history - from Steely Dan - to Santana.
And want to know why he got all of these great opportunities ?
Because of what we witnessed :
A very nice person who doesn't take himself too seriously , great sense of humor , and down to earth .
I want to share this with everyone who may read this :
Once , I ran out of money here in New York . I had no money for food , or anything man...
I had only known Dennis for a few months and was embarrassed to call him , but I had no one else to turn to.
So , I swallowed my pride and gave him a call .
I told him I was in a bad way up here , and asked him if he could spot me some bread until I got right $
Dennis didn't even hesitate man , he simply asked me how much I needed , then asked me how soon did I need it
He told me :
" You will get it tommorow morning at 9:00 am .
At exactly 9:00 am my doorbell rang , and when I opened it , Fed Ex was standing there with an overnight priority mail for me !
He never asked me to pay him back , he just wanted to know if I was ok
I made it my mission to make sure I paid him back every cent .
I remember when Dennis was at the peak of career he shared with me :
" When I look out into the audience and see people bring out their kids to see me , I am overwhelmed with gratitude ; that out of all of the good musicians back in Baltimore , I was the one blessed to get here man ."
He never turned anyone away who came backstage to see him after a gig.
This is why you see such reverence before , during , and after the video ,.we LOVE Dennis man ...
He's always looked out for other cats and supported the younger generation of drummers coming up ; look at how emotional it got ; look at Ronald Brunner and others with tears in their eyes ...
We witnessed true greatness today guys , one of the baddest cats to ever sit behind a kit :
And one of the nicest people to ever do it.
Long live Dennis
We love you man .
Your legacy will live on foreverr.
Tom Maynard , New York NY
That's what's its all about... love... helping those who are in need. God bless you man!
That is the nicest tribute
Is there a scientific fact about drummers. They always good hearted persons
@@thisaramenuka5309 no just the bad hearted ones dont make it, no one want to be in a band with them
Wow. We all know that Dennis is one of the best drummers ever, but I didn’t know he's a better man than a drummer.
Someone once said "The trick to good musicianship is to make the hard stuff look easy and the easy stuff look hard." Dennis just makes everything look so effortless.
IKR?!?!?!?
After 2 operations and liver transplantation, Dennis stay strong, and healthy! GOD BLESS YOU MAN!
Aww man, I was gonna say he looks so much different. I figured there was some sort of health issue
This man can literally put on a clinic about how to be comfortable behind the kit.
I am just a beginner but ,man, he is a smoothie.
Well he has no choice. With that obese body he can't move at all.
Didn’t know about his health issues. That’s all.
Dennis is truly a GOD FATHER at drumming and his playing shows that , God Bless Dennis Chambers.
I love how this is a giant rehearsal to him. He's having fun. This a clinic to everyone there. Even Aaron, and Sput.
Amen
I've been watching Dennis since 1986. Seen him in so many contexts. At his physical peak he was frightening. This was Dennis on a whole other level. The fluidity. Like water. Nothing to prove. Speaking of life on the drums. Painting rhythm and sound. Perfect time as always but off the grid. The Master reminding us to be grateful, to serve the music, and to look out for each other.
I saw Dennis Chambers when he played with Santana. Did a drum solo that was like an earthquake. Stunning!
If you didn't cry your eyes out watching this, you're dead inside... Thanks to the GOAT! Thanks Zildjian for this
If I can be honest with everyone. I literally cried the entire video. He’s been my very first stamp into music since I was a small little kid. Makes me realize how fast time flies. So much respect for his career 🙏🏽
I think Simon Phillips and Carter Beauford should be in the next season!
Oh yes Simon Philips, saw him once live he is amazing
You read my mind!
i wished steve gadd too HAHAHA
Simon for sure, he’s insane
are they sponsored by Zildjian?
I love the audience's reaction at 4:56 to the bass solo.
dammnnn
a very positive sign of approval right there, peace.
Yes indeed!
MonoNeon is the man on that bass!🎸💯
The True Goat..I can’t believe I’m tearing up over this. He influenced so many of us. He is the Mt Rushmore. Bless u Dennis
You aint by yourself yo
One of the GOATS. not thee goat
THE KING IS HERE !
OHHH Dennis Chambers word Class drummer!! God bless u!!!!!!
the fact that he is 61 years of age makes it even greater
hes looking 70+ after all his health struggles. Danny Carey is 59.
@@drury2d8 What health struggles did he have?
did anyone else hear the skunk funk in there
Yep, I'm glad I checked the comments cause I was going to ask the same thing lol
Omg they actually played it at the solo!!!!
And that Scofield lick!
@@mrthundaboots scofield played on this track? I thought Mike stern was the guitarist. Though I was thinking scofield could play the role.
If anyone wanted to know where
7:06
Dennis just passed the batton publicly.
He deserves nothing but respect, anything else shows immaturity & lack of compassion.
Legend.
hmmmm........ummmm where do put Tony Royster Jr, he can do things also, thats who I want to see battle Tony and Gergo.....and let Dennis watch.
@@rogerringold616 There is no battle....they are all great drummers....Dennis personally praising & highlighting individuals publicly though.......is not a light thing.
@@12dblive83 I know its serious business. Rare to see and hear honest praise for the next generation. And they really are fantastic highest quality drummers.
I almost cried seeing Dennis still doing what he loves and still jamming... Thanks for bringing these great drummers into the same space #Zildjian Dennis GOAT
I am shocked didn't know he was sick....but still sounds good.
@@tyronnfields7945 what is he sick with?
Even in his recovery and not nearly 100 percent, he still, he still blazed it. That right there shows how a GOAT from the heart earns the title
yoooo is that Some Skunk Funk turnaround in there? Sput's sneaky...
Absolutely is!! Played a bit slower tho.
Shout out to Will Kennedy at 1:48. Another LEGEND! Dennis goes without saying tho.
Stank faces Mono got after that RIFF...UN REAL 4:54
A little less known, just before Will, is caribbean drummer jean-philippe fanfant (checkout sakesho on youtube, you won't regret). All in all, when your audience is packed with world class drummers.. you mean a lot.
Man.. so gracious and humble. One could only hope that after all the years doing what we do, through sickness, health and aging, that we can be that graceful in blessing the new generation of drummers and passing the torch. Class act 👏🏾
Absolutely, well said...
How many years have passed .. I saw him twice live in concert in Europe with Mike Stern many years ago (not counting how many records with him I have listened to). I've always loved his playing. Great memories.
I saw him in this video after a long time and I understand immediately that he had health problems .. I informed myself immediately.. a liver transplant which luckily he managed to have. Dennis, I wish you all the best!
Dennis Chambers is like Neil Peart on Progressive Rock, a masters! Dennis you are still with us, you.. A legend living
Hope Sonny Emory performance in zildjian live
Sonny is my #1. Man that would rip!
Oh, my God, ...... Dennis Chambers as he called Gergő Borlai at the end, ..... (I'm Hungarian and it's such a moment that they'll know for the last time in Hungary and a lot of people don't even understand and feel this moment its significance and greatness ... unfortunately, but I am very, very proud now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Thank you Dennis Chambers!!!!!!!!, Thank you Gergő Borlai, best regards: Tamás Kovács
That part took me to CHURCH
Maaan what the hell did I just watch......so freaking awesome!
Dennis is the real g and all the musicians there were amazing too
No not really
What a great artist and a great person! (Gergo will tell his grandchildren about this day.)
I almost cried ¡ what a beautiful time
Seriously one of the coolest guys ever. Saw him and Wooten front row and Dennis brought the band back for an encore just for my daughter Marina! Was also at this event and it was surreal seeing this man at work after all these years. Major props to everyone involved!
How do you get to see one of these live? Ever since I found out about these and VF Jams, I've been dying to get to one. I just want to experience it. Also, I jumped on these around Thomas Pridgen.
I'll never forget meeting Dennis at a drum clinic in VA. What a cool and humble Brother!
RIP Aaron Spears 🙏
The moment I’ve been waiting for in 2020. dennis chambers Legend
I teared up watching this 😭
The pinnacle of his art. A true master of his craft.
He looks like a completely different person. Can't wait to see this video.
there are two Dennis Chambers. both drummers. BUT it's not the legendary Dennis on the picture. if you listen carefully, you realize that there is a huge difference of precision between them.
There's only one Dennis Chambers. He just happens to be (at the time of writing) twenty two thousand four hundred and seventy nine days old. When you hit that mark, check your own precision and see how legendary it is...
@@heiner74 I'd like to have whatever you're on
On second thought, no
@@heiner74 nah! Just 1 Mr Chambers.
@@kirjian me too
I'm so happy he shouted out MonoNeon!!
MonoNeon is not even from this plane of reality TBH
There are sooooo many good bassists right now, what are you talking about
what do you mean good bassists are a dying race? as if you can actually know that. stfu
Yeah I love that as well!
Lucky for MonoNeon, MonoNeon also shouts out MonoNeon in every piece of footage MonoNeon exists in.
When Dennis specifically calls you out! Gergo the great!
The Legend and Forever
God Bless Dennis Chambers🙌✨
If you think Tony Royster Jr is good remember that Dennis taught him everything he knows. Man is the OG, one of the true greats, and an original American artist. God bless.
Nah Tony was pure energy and talent. Dennis showed him to properly use his talent. Dennis is a goat though.
Noo i an interview he said he never taught tony r jr

For sure!! I've been waiting since I saw the list! They're all great drummers but you gotta show appreciation for Dennis!!

Some of us needed this at the end of 2020. This whole series has been such a blessing
Man... I keep coming back to this video the long wait was so worth it. God bless you Dennis!
I’ve been waiting for this since so long...I got so excited to just see this when it came in my subscription
This moment will be legendary
These songs are amazing. Everything about his series is just terrific!
My thoughts exactly. Big props to whomever at Zildjian is responsible for this great series
I LOVE DENNIS CHAMBERS AND I ALSO KNOW THAT IN THIS WE CALL LIFE THINGS WILL HAPPEN BUT TO WATCH THIS IS REALLY HARD FOR ME TO SEE HIM LIKE THIS SO I HAVE TO EXIT IT,S TOO MUCH I,M OVERCOME WITH EMOTION.

Thank you, Dennis Chambers! Your gifts to the world of music are priceless. We are all better for what you have given us
My heart was so over joyed at hearing such consistency and power from the aged but young in heart Dennis the GOAT Chambers
Thank you to everyone involved in making these videos happen. Keep them coming!
Long live Dennis Chambers🔥🔥🔥
Gergo became the equivalent of a Made Man in drummer terms by the DrumGod Chambers, that was an official unofficial torch passing/blessing by one of the GOATS, I WOULD'VE BEEN IN TEARS BRO💯💯💯💯
This is absolutely amazing, what a pleasure to see him play ❤️
C est un répertoire explosif 💥 ça c est la musique 🎶 à décortiquer
And I would be a piece of Heaven I was the percussionist playing with this legend!
this entire group is so talented jesus
To Dennis Chambers: Thank you for all that you do and have done, for drumming, music and overall inspiration. YOU ARE THE MAN!
This literally had me in tears!! Here I am watching again!!! The 🐐!!!!!
Dennis is always amazing! Im so glad his health will return to normal eventually.
Gergo was the perfect disciple when called up and Ron jr was blushing hard when called out.
How touching and so well deserved.
I know he isnt a Zildjian artist anymore but, it would be great to hear Vinnie with this band.
This is the reason Dennis Chambers is the G.O.A.T! Nuff said.

Loose Screws is a Snarky Puppy tune! Snarky Puppy x Dennis Chambers. Crossover of the century, bro.
He is sounding better than ever I’m convinced
This was great all in all. Legend !!!
This was dope. Good to see Mr. Chambers again. Also, shout out to whoever arranged this tune and decided to put the GAP Band groove at the end.

Yes that is completely and perfectly truth will done mr Ahmed kahfagy .
that 'some skunk funk' reference is SOOO GOOOD dude
What a great arrangement. All of the best 'Dennis' solo vamps in one tune. Brilliant. Chambers... you are a legend.
And your special thanks to MonoNeon and Gergo Borlai - "young phenomenons" - I don't think those two will ever forget that...
The energy is crazy. ❤️
Mr. Dennis, thank you for loving Gergő Borlai. You have been his role model since he was a child.
I smiled through that whole performance!!! I owe so much to Dennis & Aaron. It was amazing to witness this on so many levels. Sheeew!
At 10:24 Mr Chambers probably forgot the guy's name, but he invites to the stage Gergo Borlai, who is a super talented Hungarian drummer. Still he is a gentleman for doing this though.. I only saw once Mr Chambers playing live in Budapest, with Mike Stern. That was such a powerful experience for me as a teenager!
just seen a documentary about gergo they made back around 2006 and someone tells a story how he was the driver for dennis when he was there.
he intentionally played gergo's cd in the car on low volume and dennis told him to turn it up. then he were swearing big time and he didnt wanted to get out from the car until he listened the whole album :D
Que alegría siento de ver tocar a Denis chamber, una admiración por siempre, que Dios bendiga 🙌🏼👏🏻 grandioso baterista 👏🏻
The Legend. Damn that was groovy af!
Damn tight. What a legend. Plays with so much feel.
Had a chance of meeting Dennis while working at Memphis Drum Shop 5 years back. Super nice and was kind enough to sign some gear for me. My favorite take away from the meeting was how he wasn’t bashful about how he was thankful to meet us all but he was ready to go home hah. I think he had been touring clinical for a few months at the time, so home was calling and the home stretch was near.
As much as I know that this is the legend himself Dennis chambers man that sax solo at 5:38 freaking blew my mind.
Jonathan Mones is his name.
yep
real drummin right there he been killing it a long time
my man on them skins 😎
He was tough!!!!
LOL, @4:50 after the bass fill...that "stank" faces!!! cracked me up since I was doing exactly the same. OMG that was perfect!
