- "Shout" is a song by the British band Tears for Fears, released as a single in 1984. It was also featured on their second studio album, "Songs from the Big Chair." "Shout" became one of their most successful and well-known songs, reaching the top 10 on various music charts around the world.
The song is known for its powerful and anthemic sound, combining elements of new wave and synth-pop with emotionally charged lyrics. "Shout" carries a message about standing up for oneself and expressing frustrations and emotions loudly. The repetitive chorus, where they sing, "Shout, shout, let it all out," became an iconic part of the song.
"Shout" received critical acclaim and achieved commercial success, solidifying Tears for Fears' position as one of the leading bands of the 1980s. It remains a popular and recognizable song to this day, often associated with the new wave and synth-pop genres of that era.
If you get a chance, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and "Sewing the Seeds of Love" are two other great TFF tunes.
Sowing not sewing. Unless you're stitching the seeds of love
They are both lead singers. That's why it so perfectly works. Yes works. Many years away from each other they are back together. They sound the same!!
This is loaded with complex rhythms and arrangement that make a deceptively simple song sound amazing. Great choice!❤😊 Thanks for acknowledging that, Fenom!!!!
Great song! Was everywhere when I joined the USAF in 1985. You guys should check them in concert from 2019. The mullets are gone and they are grey, but still sound fantastic.
This song will always be etched in my memory. My paternal grandpa got kicked out when he was 14. He raised 9 kids, but never owned his own home. My dad bought a trailer and put it in our back yard so my grandparents didn't have to pay rent anymore. After they died he rented it to my cousin who was much older than us. They were having a party and this song was playing. I just walked over uninvited, LMAO! They didn't say anything and I didn't stay long, but I thought it was so cool!
Great start to a novel!
love Tears For Fears but I was 20 when this came out. Bittersweet to be nearly 60....
I was a sophomore in HS when this came out. We had three lyrics to this written on our folders and notebooks. Awesome song!! Roland and Kurt are amazing artists! ~💜
The magnificent 80’s Black rock band, Living Color, is highly unsung! Video of Cult of Personality will blow you guys away!!!!!
Yep in the 80s and 90s we were taught to fuse, get together, melt. And we made brilliant music. (cultural 'appropration' was something to strive for) In the 2010s they started to learn the kids to segregate again. But not on our watch ! As long as the
This still sounds great, despite repeated listening and it's age (39 years!)
I needed that
thanks
The whole album these hits came from - “Songs from the Big Chair” - is solid killer all the way. You can’t lose with any cut on it.
First time I heard this, I was 14 in a runaway shelter in Benton Harbour Michigan. Ran from Ohio. love this song
You need to do "Everybody Wants To Rule The World"... *if you haven't. That one is one of the best car songs. Lol
Love your channel. Great reaction to a timeless track
This was my time. I love watching ya'll see and get it! I'm old and love seeing people experience it!!! Imagine being in a club surrounded by this on all sides!
If you're into sax(ophone), I can't recommend "The Working Hour" by them enough. That one is an absolute CLASSIC from the same album (in fact it follows Shout as the second song on it), so you know it's from their peak.
Their live version at the Night of the Proms is a rare example where a live version is better than the studio version. You should have reacted to that version.
God a good song. These are the things I can do without: toxic people. Who ever they are. Family members? Bye by. Friends? Bye by. spouse? Bye by. You get to that point where you have to say “enough is enough”. Go on and find yourself some happiness; some peace of mind.
Disturbed does an awesome cover ❤
You know.when your older when you talk about Revenge of the nerds . Great work , keep it up .
Got something for you next week 😉
@@thisisitreactions thats cool because I'm old too.
and I like revenge of the nerds
Revenge of the Nerds is such an iconic movie. Does not age well. Neither did I. I still love it.
Darling darling baby by the Ojays. It’s all so quite by Bjorkí😊
And this song alludes to it. Get the lyrics and you’ll understand
Do Mr Mister kyrie or Broken Wings Please
Listen the cover by Disturbed!
The surest sign of a well written, original song, is that it stands the test of time.
Most of the current chart songs are bad productions when it comes to instrumentation, harmonies, melodies and real voices. Modern pop songs don't stand the test of music levels that were set in former decades.
Truer words have never been written. Songs from 1964 - 1994 hold up and are often more relevant and meaningful than much 'music' produced in the 21st century.
Yep
Yes. They’re from Bath, England. The video is shot at a place called Durdle Door on the Dorset coast in England.
“woman In Chains” - Tears For Fears featuring Oleta Adams. Incredible song, as many of their songs are.
Roland Orzabal is an amazing musician. He’s is tremendously talented. I recommend Sowing the Seeds of Love by them next. They have many great songs.
Curtis and Roland are still out there doing there thing!!!!!
Curt not Curtis
Saw them two nights ago in Toronto. Great show .
Nice!
Saw them in the 90’s in Winnipeg. Nice that they’re still touring.❤🎶
Great song and Great Reaction guys. Tears for Fears were possibly better known in the UK/Europe/Australia & New Zealand than in USA. Maybe you could do a reaction to either "Mad World" or "Everybody wants to rule the world". Another band from that era and also from the UK that you may want to react to would be "Simple Minds". Their best known US hit would probably be "Don't you Forget about Me" which featured (think it was the opening theme) for the 80s movie "The Breakfast Club".
BANGER 🔥🔥🔥 Luv Ur reaction guys ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍
Saw them in Vancouver, we travelled from New Zealand to see them , as we are super fans ! They need to be on the rock and roll hall of fame!
TRUE!!!
They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018
Listen to their song " Woman In Chains", it'll blow your mind ...
Mad World enough said , Tears for Fears were amazing their lyrics are still the best ever.
Tears For Fears released their seventh studio album The Tipping Point in February 2022. It debuted at no.1 on Billboard’s top album sales in March 2022. It peaked on the US Billboard 200 at no. 8. It was No.1 on the Billboard US Top Alternative Albums, and the US Top Rock Albums. Everyone was doing reaction videos around that time and they have been touring to support the album. Great album. You should give it a listen. They released 5 singles from the album along with videos for each one. The album was a top 5 hit in the UK. It was a top 10 hit in Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
MY GUYSSSSSSS Their CD SOWING THE SEEDS OF LOVE, YESSSS. NOT TO MENTION ROLAND INTRODUCED US TO POWERHOUSE VOCALIST OLETA ADAMS. SHE SANG THAT SMASH HIT. GET HERE. YOU CAN REACH ME BY RAILWAY……..I DON’T CARE HOW YOU GET HERE……………
Check out the song Elemental. It's from the Tears For Fears album that came out after this duo broke up, so it was really just Roland Orzabal by himself. It's an amazing song, one of those awesome early 90s songs that hacks into your central nervous system and won't leave you alone. I used to play it on repeat, and it still sounds incredible.
This video is filmed at a place called Durdle Door on England’s Jurassic Coast (a World Heritage Site) in the county of Dorset.
It is crazy to see them now. I still picture them like this, as they were in the 80s. "Sewing the Seeds of Love" is another great one from them.
I was 12 maybe 13 when this came out. I Loved it then and Love it better as I got older and wiser❤. Y'all gentleman have a great 4th🎉❤
Enjoyed your reaction to Tears for Fears. Took me back to middle school & high school days ❤
Tears for Fears are actually on tour right now incidently .
Woman in Chains PLEASE 🎵🎶🍯🤌💥🙏
Their first album' The Hurting' was amazing. Pale Shelter, Change, Mad World.
"The Hurting" is a phenomonal Album! They need to React to the Songs you listed above.
Nice choice! Another new classic!
They still play and sound amazing live to this day!
Guys?there's a lot more layers to this song than you realise. Both lead singers used shout therapy to deal with the trauma of being abused by their parents.
If you like their sound, you should check out their new (2022) album of all new songs. They still sound amazing, and are great to see live. The new album, The Tipping Point, has some cool tunes like "My Demons" and, if you listen first to their Songs From The Big Chair "Woman in Chains," they have a "part 2 sort of" with "Break The Man." They're from Bath England, FYI. I was a sometime fan of theirs in the 80s, but have learned to love them even more, especially with the new music. Warning, they don't look like they did in the 80s, though.
Woman in chains...also great song
Typical 80s song and a good demonstration of how synths and classic instruments can work together amazingly.
They wore the mullets with pride. One of the absolutely best groups in the 80s and 90s. Timeless songs with meaning. Truly a great group. and if you see late interviews with them, they are still relevant.
Woman in Chains is one of my faves
Not sure if this song is as much a song against social norms than against the oppression of authoritarian governments and the wars that those governments execute against peaceful nations. This song is also probably about the cold war era where USA and Soviet Union were competing with each other with the threat of nuclear war being a very real thing.
STRAIGHT FIRE!!!!
These boys come from a poor background in the English city of Bath. Never forgot their roots.
Tears for Fears are awesome! Glad you’re reacting to more of them.
ughh!! Another classic banger. Holds up over the decades. Great reaction! Would love to see some Tool on this channel; it'll bring the Tool army to your subs for sure. Check out The Pot, it's amazing, and you will be happy you checked it out!! Love y'all.
Women in Chains , Sowing the Seeds, Badman's Song ( live version ) their newer works like Tipping Point about the passing of Roland's wife
Nice review guys, can you please review Woman In Chains with the gorgeous Oleta Adams on guest vocal, and Advice For The Young At Heart. Tears For Fears have been making great music for 40 years, they recently released a new album in 2022 called The Tipping Point, the title track is a song about the death of Roland's wife in 2017, you should check it out.
Woman In Chains by TFF is beautiful if you guys get a chance 🎶✌🏼
Fellas, I went to a free concert in Downtown O-town n that's when I seen Tears For Fears throw down on stage!!! Great song!!!
They’re from Bath, England. On tour now.
Not bad for a couple of 20 year olds from Bath England huh?
I think this song is related to " primal scream" therapy. I think it is a way to release harmful emotions.
As a boomer Tears for Fears “SHOUT” is My #1 Always❗️
women in chains! unbelievable.
Shout out 😮 that was 🔥🔥🔥🔥
a classic! catchy and great vocals
Break it down again, it's a banger, and has a great drum bet
If there is one factor that makes UK music standout is their recording, engineering and mixing.
It is ridiculous how much musical, literary and theatrical talent has come out of those little islands.
Hey guys, thank you for this one - great song!! This one reminds me a bit of Depeche Mode, another totally amazing band!
I sat front row at a Tears for Fears concert in a small venue. The speaker near me was so loud I must’ve lost some hearing b/c of “Shout.”
Excellent point by Fenom: they don’t sound like other 80s bands. Michael, Prince, Whitney, Madonna, Run DMC, Springsteen, George Michael, New Edition got the ink but this band should’ve too.
Tears for Fears also wrote ‘Mad World.’
More Tears for Fears please😊
Too many good songs fro. This iconic band. Change is magnificent. The first album, The Hurting, was significant to many very young people coping with and incredibly, rapidly changing world. It kept me grounded, and I deeply respect this band.
WHAT ABOUT : - Sowing the seeds of love , Adwice for the young at heart , Head over heels , Womans in chaince , Break it down again , Bad man's song , Elemental , Secrets ?
The music video for "Hey Jude" influenced the ending of the "Shout" music video.😎 "Hey Jude" is a Beatles song for those who do not know.🤓
4:10 was the point of the song.
Fantastic song and band, that whole album, Songs From the Big Chair, is a Masterpiece and should be heard in total, you guys would love it. Mothers Talk and Head over Heals are dope. Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎷🎶
Song about the fear of nuclear war. Imo.
Great channel chaps
Guys this was everything in 1985❤
The remix on this was 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Urban radio stations had it in HEAVY rotation. This is STILL a banger!!!
fearless youth -- the corporate music producers are told to stay away -- amazing what happens when you stick to your creative vision -- great channel guys - thanks for putting it out for us
VH1 Behind The Music, but they were never mentioned on there, at least I don't recall seeing them on there
Mike And The Mechanics - "The Living Years"
🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘
They also discovered Oleta Adams, she was singing in a bar while they were drinking there and she blew them away. Check out Woman in Chains, a duet with her.
Gotta check out tears for fears mad world great song.
Shot at Durdle Door in Dorset South England
A good song gets everyone moving to the beat. Roland and Kurt created some of the most recognizable songs that, as other commenters posted, are iconic as they have withstood the test of time.
Great memories growing up.
Roland is an amazing vocalist with so much rich feel
This song is flawless
Since you love guitar music how about reacting to Joe Bonamassa live doing "Going Down" at the Greek theater. And Stevie Ray Vaughn doing "Texas Flood" live at the El Mocambo.
They sound exactly same LIVE!!! GREAT GROUP!!❤
I loved this song in 1985 in high school, and still love it today! 😃
Blue eyed soul
Check out DISTURBED'S cover of Tears for Fears SHOUT live 2000
We used to roller-skate to this Tears for Fears song in the early 1990s! Roland Orzarbal and Curt Smith's voices really elevates the song's message in a POWERFUL way!!! This is my FAVORITE of their hit songs! 😊👏🏾🎤🎶🎸🥁🎹💯🛼
80's BABY!!!! ANOTHER GREAT GROUP. INXS!!👍🏼❤
