I believe Simone says that it is about a suicide bomber who thinks their actions will take them to heaven, but they end up somewhere rather warmer!

This song is about a suïcide bomber, who thinks he is in heaven, but in fact he is in hell, but he likes it so much there that he refuse to go to heaven. You really need to hear both singing Stabat Mater Dolorosa from the same concert

Just discoverd you today buddy. I'm a 62 year metalhead and into all kinds of metal sinds the day I heard Uriah heep for the first time and since then evolving with all the gems in the genre. Thanks for a very kind reaction and keep digging in the Dutch Metal rabbit hole. There's a lot to discover with female fronted Dutch metal bands. And yes this is really good, but the amount of gems is ridiculous. You are on my personal radar. Keep rocking!

Speaking as a 63 year old music lover from the 70's bands like Nightwish and Epica fit perfectly into the kind of music I use to listen to and love when I was young. I noticed on your back round you have three of my top five favorite groups on that wall. Nightwish, Rush and Pink Floyd. My wall would also include The Who and especially early Genesis but I am OK with the Phil Collins era as well. I discovered Nightwish by watching the younger generations reacting to songs by Rush and Pink Floyd and I kept seeing Nightwish reactions on these channels as well. So one they I decided to give it a view and to say I was impressed is the understatement of the year. Never had a band or a singer have such an affect on me than that Wacken 2013 performance of Ghost Love Score. I knew right away I was a fan and the next day went to a local record store and purchased every Nightwish product they had at that time. Imagine my surprise to hear that there were two different singers on those albums but it made no difference because I loved those singers as well.

According what I have heard, Simone told us that the song is about somebody who died and thinks she/he is in heaven, but inplace of that it is hell, if that makes sense!

Hey man great reaction, and great that you really like Epica live, there is lots and lots more of good stuff. Two suggestions from this "Retrospect" concert with full symphony orchestra + choir on stage. Two other suggestions from this concert:
    - Epica, "Unleashed", live at the retrospect
    - Epica, "Stabat Matar Dolorosa", live at the retrospect (beautifull classical song, also with Floor as guest!)

The one thing nobody mentioned about Floor: she always adjusts to her singing partner. I've seen a lot of collaborations from her and at least half of them she could easily overpower her partner but she always steps a little down to made them both sounding awesome. Of course that wasn't really necessary with a powerhouse like Simone.

    Hey Bob,
Glad you came back to EPICA. This is from their 2013 Retrospect 10th anniversary concert, with full orchestra and choir. A 3 hour , 24 song concert, and Simone was about 3 months pregnant here. Floor joined them for 2 songs, the other being a classical piece called "Stabat Mater Dolorosa".(That'll work well for your classical taste.)
Song is from the 3rd album, 2007's The Divine Conspiracy. Lyrics by Simone, music by guitarist Mark Jansen, former guitarist Ad Sluijter, and Simone. The song is a bout a suicide bomber who thinks he went to heaven, discovers he actually went to hell, and decides he likes it there. This is the first fully live video you have done from them, as you see they are awesome on stage.
Plenty more EPICA to choose from, 8 albums and several EP's. Try a newer song, "Code of Life" ,live from Amsterdam 2023 at AFAS Live. And trolls are everywhere, just ignore them.

Hi Bob, here is a video from EPICA that I think you will really enjoy, this is a filmed live performance from their pandemic streaming concert from 2021, it's a very beautiful song, and a magical performance, Simone really shines, you'll find the whole range of her vocal skills in this one 🙃, the lyrics are inspired by German folklore, a tale of the Alder King who steals children's souls.

Talking about you being too old to enjoy Nightwish or Epica I noticed you have no Ayreon reactions on your channel. I would suggest you try the just release live video from Ayreon of the 6th extinction and just look at the crowd. You will see people there in their teens and people there older than me at 63. The one thing they have in common is their love of this amazing group. Please see the link to this amazing performance and FYI one of the backup singers there is the sister of Floor Jansen Irene.

I am right there with you, I loved the Moody Blues since they came out in the late 60s for the symphonic melodic style, then much of the same prog bands you have on your wall.
Tuomas of Nightwish loves movie music, and in the last album composed a 30+ min multi-movement classical piece, which is amazing.
A fan created a wonderful music video for the whole thing and has Tuomas' approval.
The long orchestral work in the last Nightwish Human::Nature album is called:
All the Works of Nature that Adorn the World.
    ua-cam.com/video/RnOdQ5WNZJk/v-deo.html
This video is 30+ min of beauty of Tuomas' gorgeous music in multiple parts, with a fan created video, ending with Ad Astra.
It is absolutely beautiful visually and musically, and just so zen. It will really make you see the beauty of the world in which we live.
Tuomas created this music for Orchestra and choir vocals with some contributions from Troy and Floor. No lyrics, just music.
This fan made video is approved by Nightwish, and edited to perfection to match the musical mood in each part ( titled sections) of the piece. Nightwish did release their own video for the last part called Ad Astra which is also good to view.
Ad Astra was used to close each concert on the recent tour. Floor ends it with her amazing soaring vocals.
