Chris thile is an amazing mandoline player. Plays, classical, jazz, funk, etc... soloing on this iconic instrument

Masterful harmonies. I agree that the mandolin was helpful. A masterpiece.

Ayyyy you finally got back to Jacob Collier! He's amazing, agree with everything you said about it being a work of art and the harmonies being unique and all~ I'll reiterate my recommendation from last time for your next vid: his Grammy Award winning arrangement of All Night Long. And along with all his other music, another big one is his Grammy Award winning arrangement of Moon River :)

Hi. All Night Long sounds like it would be interesting! I'll bookmark it for a future reaction. Thanks so much for the recommendation. I appreciate it.

I like the studio version of this song with strings just as much. It's from the new DJesse Vol 4 album.
I noticed that the only 2 JC songs you reacted to are acoustic troubadour type ones on the soft side but that's only a tiny part of what he does. To see a fuller scope of his genius as a composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, singer you should check out the high energy, virtuoisc and large group and cross-genre stuff he does. From the latest album that would be "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" where he only sings background vocals and my favorite, "A Rock Somewhere" which uses sitar and ragas from a younger generation Shankar. Many people love "Little Blue" as well.
Going back further: covers of (multi-instruments) All Night Long and (a capella) Moon River, Hideaway, Flintstones, The Christmas Song, and All I Need, Sleeping On My Dreams, DJesse from the other Volumes.
He also teaches music theory and shows how to use Logic X Pro mixing. If you know anything about music theory and microtonality there are also mind-blowing videos out there breaking these songs down in detail like used Moon River or this one:

Somebody else recommended All Night Light moon Moon River. I've bookmarked both of them for future reactions. Thanks so much.

3 of the best. They found a kindred spirit when came together. They gave around 4 concerts together before this performance. Jacob, of course, is a masterful writer, composer, performer, and producer. While Jacob wrote the song and the general harmonies, I would bet the harmonies here were as much by Chris and Madison as Jacob. Besides Nickel Creek, Chris also has another band, Punch Brothers, has an extensive solo career doing everything from Bach to jazz, has performed with the jazz fusion band Snarky Puppy, and one of my favorite projects, The Goat Rodeo Sessions, which was spearheaded by the renowned cellist Yo Yo Ma. A great one from that group is "Here and Heaven". Madison Is a brilliant songwriter and guitarist in her own right. She has a Mahogany session of her "All I.ve Ever Known" that's wonderful.

Jacob Collier consistently has a way of taking a simple hook, and suspending it in a swirling vortex of complexity which, somehow, doesn’t detract from allowing said hook to shine.
Fun fact: JC is playing a 5 string guitar which he has retuned to allow him greater agility on the instrument. There’s a video describing it called “Jacob Collier reinvents the guitar” if you’re interested.
You should react to ”Bridge Over Troubled Water” feat. Yebba, John Legend & Tori Kelly

Nice reaction. You might consider Grammy-winning Saje (umlaut over the "a") "In the Wee Small Hours". Four women jazz singers/composers. One of the women worked with Jacob and indeed roped Jacob in to provide some nicely judged inspiration.

Hello. Sure, I've already bookmarked it. I'll see about reacting to that one. Sounds interesting.

Chris Thile is from Nickel Creek. You should feature them, they are fantastic.

Chris on his own is astonishing and perhaps his closeness to Jacob in musical sensibility is most apparent then. From his solo album try Dionysus then Laysong. Then go to Chris and Jacob improvising "Drive My Car" at the NY Blue Note...

Well, it sounds like I found another person to dig deeper into his music! Ha. Never a dull moment. ;)
