About Megalo Box メガロボクス (source Wikipedia):
The series takes place in a futuristic Japan where licensed citizens live in a wealthy city while unlicensed citizens are forced into a slum on its outskirts. Megaloboxing is a popular sport in this world similar to boxing, except the boxers fight while wearing a metal frame which makes their attacks much more lethal.
About Megalobox 2: Nomad (source (source myanimelist):
Seven years later, Joe now goes by "Nomad" and keeps a low profile, occasionally fighting in a few underground matches to get by. He is haunted by hallucinations and relies on a set of painkillers to numb his mind.
During a match, Joe wins against an opponent, Chief, who purposefully loses for some extra cash from gamblers. Subsequently, Joe discovers that Chief is from a community of immigrants called the Casa. Chief is gradually trying to make enough money to purchase the land where they live illegally. At first, Joe hesitates to get involved, but eventually decides to lend the Casa a helping hand.
About Each Anime Fighter (source Megalobox wikia):
Joe (ジョー) is the ring name of the main protagonist of the anime, Megalo Box. Previously known as Junk Dog (ジャンクドッグ), his real name has yet to be revealed. He used to make a living by throwing matches underground with Gansaku Nanbu.
After meeting the Megalonia champion, Yuri, he did everything to enter the Megalonia and fight the champion under Team Nowhere. His ring name became "Gearless Joe" after he fought his first opponent without using a gear, and this becoming his signature way of fighting in the ring.
Shark Samejima (シャーク鮫島) is the 185th rank fighter in Megalobox. He was the first-ever opponent that Joe fought during his first run of the Megalonia. Shark was KO'd in the third round after Joe used his footwork to outsmart him.

If you haven't watched Megalo Box yet, go watch it now on Netflix and Funimation it's an amazing anime with a wonderful story and superb music. There are so many good boxing fight scenes in this anime, but we decided to go with Joe's first professional fight against Shark Samejima to allow Chad to discuss his backstory as a professional fighter. With that being said, as always, THANK YOU so much for the support, make sure to share this video with your friends, share in different anime communities, and let us know which fight scene you want us to breakdown next!
Want to thank you again for this channel. You guys just checking off the boxes on everything I want to see. Love the humor and content as always. If constant gratitude is what you need to keep the channel going, I will gladly give it.
Keep the breakdowns coming and would love to see another top films or scenes for specific actors like you did with Iko Uwais. Also maybe something related to the history of the martial arts that you breakdown on the videos. I'm in for anything you guys produce so keep the good work.
Will you be doing the mission impossible bathroom fight scene just because it’s so awesome and love to see you break it down!
I dunno if someone commented but i want you to break down "buybust" movie fight scenes
Do a fight scene breakdown of mokichi robinson vs raian kure in kengan ashura
One does not only Break Down Megalo Box fight scenes
but also Break Dance to its Music
True lol
The music itself would need a Breakdown from a Music Composer
I loved Megalobox, glad to see it's getting some recognition!
Its a great series
I LIKE it cuz it proves that the gear dosent make the fighter that the man makes the fighter
Megalo Box is a fantastic anime that deals with both the physical and mental journey of a fighter.
@@ScenicFights I agree lol
@@ScenicFights true i just finished nomad and it shows you that they have to be mentally stable
I'm super down for some Hajime no Ippo breakdowns.
Which boxing fight from Hajime no Ippo would you like to see us breakdown?
Takamura vs Hawk or Ippo vs Sawamura
@@ScenicFights takamura vs the eagle or ippo's rookie championship match
A miyata counter fight is also a great idea. Against the Australian dude!
@@ScenicFights hayami vs ryuichi or maybe ippo vs mashiba
It would be interesting to know how you two met or how the whole underground stuff was like
Could be an interesting special episode
We have that in florida from what ive heard it gets pretty crazy
yeah I second that.
Good idea
This anime actually has a second season and it's called megalo box nomad. To me as a casual viewer, the fight scenes there improved especially in episode 7 (liu vs joe) and i'm curious what you think of it as someone who knows what they're talking about
Megalo Box Nomad is SO GOOD! I hope more people watch Megalo Box because of our breakdown. It's a superb anime. Thank you for the comment and request!
@@ScenicFights please do season 2. Nomad has so many good fights.
Oh I didnt even know
@@efkin_sakana yea. The dub is out too if you prefer that
YES! YES! Finally some appreciation for nomad! It went completely under the radar of many which is a damn shame! Easy contender for best anime of the year (at least sequel) and pretty much holds best ost in its grasp already.
I was literally thinking how cool it would be if y’all made an episode featuring megalo box.
That's our goal! We read your request and make it happen. Is there any other anime that you'd like to see us breakdown next?
@@ScenicFights yup. Hajime no ippo. But the fights are long 💀. If you could do takamura vs hawk that’d be awesome cuz there is some moves that are just crazy
@@ScenicFights Are you guys watching season 2? Maybe some breakdown on the upcoming final fight?
Cowboy Bebop has some dope hand-to-hand fights, too. Would be cool to see you break some of those down.
Edit: Great video.
This.
I'm happy to see you guys covering Megalobox. It's such a good anime. In a world of mechanically enhanced boxers that aren't, mostly, as skilled as past fighters I love the dynamic of a fighter bringing the skill back to the sport without using the 'gear'. Such a good story and you guys did a great job of explaining the concepts and moves used in the Joe vs Shark fight.
It's such a great fighter's journey. Gearless Joe just wants to find out how good he really is as a fighter, his true skill. He's from the slums and never had that opportunity to prove his worth. I think a lot of people can relate to the idea of just proving to yourself on a public stage that you're worth as much as you believe you are despite other's opinions.
Yessss this show deserves it
Megalo Box is one of our favorite anime shows right now. The music and story is beautifully done.
yeah couldn't agree more
you guys should do the Ohma vs Raian fight from Kengan Ashura, it’s the longest fight in the anime so far, but also one of the coolest
Can't wait for them to use remove or advanced in the vid
Can't wait them using Release on video
I hope y'all cover Hajime no ippo next!!
Thats another good one
So no one is gonna talk about Ashita no Joe ?
Damn i wish we had more background on that underground fighting sidenote. Sounds like a badass story.
Here's the thing about that no one really wants to talk about that stuff because of the traumatic things they go through so I'm not saying it's bad to want to know but I do highly doubt that it's going to happen because everyone that gets out of that scenario never thinks it's a badass story everyone thinks f*** I'm glad I'm out of there

Chad: "Learning how to walk actually helps you cover a large amount of distance in a short amount of time."
Babies: *take down notes*
lmao this is hilarious.
"Oh my god our baby is walking!!"
"HE IS WHAT!!"
"Thank you for teaching me father, im ready to surpass you in boxing!!"
Hey guys when's the MMA breakdown of the raid coming?
We need for 1 an 2
The raid 2 Berandal
No they would not, cuz this guy is only experts in MMA, jiujutsu, boxing and muaythai, but not silat
@@jaiicurl6171 pretty extensive list tbf,he'd definitely be down to say some stuff about it
It's kinda hard to believe you were doing underground fights when you're saying it with a big bright smile. We need a video about it hahaha :D
Loved this! You guys should do "Book of Eli" with Denzel Washington. Denzel was trained in Kali with the assistance of Dan Inosanto, a training partner of Bruce Lee.
Yep he aslo uses it in the equalizer
I like the part where you explained how you felt with your feet and nerves a lot. In the Hajime no ippo show I spoke of in another comment the main character at a point felt like he was under water from some condition. The fight got drawn out and he couldn’t breathe properly.
It cools that the anime used real boxing techniques. Also it would be cool if the creators used more unique boxing styles like emanuel augustas, he would literally dance to set up his punches and slips, at time he wouldn't punch at all, cross his hand behind his back and just just faints.
Emanuel Augustus was so entertaining to watch box.
For another anime breakdown, "Levius" would be a pretty good one too
Yes
Which fight scene from Levius would you like to see us breakdown?
@@ScenicFights First fight Levius vs Malcolm
@@stevesoto7463 Yeah I like that one. Shows off the most technique I think.
I love to see Megalobox get any amount of attention, it’s so good. And a video breaking it down only makes these moments better!
Love this!!! The footwork at 7:05 reminds me of the anime " Kenichi the mightiest disciple " It's exaggerated in the anime of course, but glad to learn it's based on real technique. Great job!
Alot of stuff in kenchi is based of something real just extremely exgerated
Can we all agree that they need to do a video on Kenichi that anime deserves so much more loved and I wish we got a sequel to it
@@elmachogamer1009 100% agree!!! The show is absolutely underrated. I feel that we could all learn a lot from breaking down the show into the actual techniques like these guys at Scenic Fights do. Definitely a motivator of an anime!!!
Wow thank you for explaining why they take a good minute to get back up. I always thought in scenes it was for drama, now I know it’s actually realistic.
I've noticed in most boxing practices I've been in most of the coaches always told me and taught me it's all about perception and flow and expecially seeing new boxers in this day in age there's great truth to that
I like that instead of just saying what techniques they used, you also give other options that weren't shown in the anime just to educate
It's a manga that I dearly wish would have been made into an anime, but the series Teppu is my absolute favorite fighting/MMA manga.
Great video guys! Glad to catch it so soon
I can't get enough of this channel! Love their banter and insight. I'm always excited for new episodes.

Really appreciate how you talked about footwork, you don't hear about that often when it comes to boxing/striking. Also that little man from somewhere part lol, as always you guys never disappoint with your content, keep it up and I can't wait to see what you breakdown next.
Haha Logan is The Man From Somewhere lol. Glad you enjoy our breakdowns and silly jokes. Is there any particular fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next!?
Also I started looking for Silat and other not japanese martial arts after reading the manga History Strongest Deciple Kenichi, there are a lot of good martial arts, always with a lot of exaggerated characteristics, but still pretty good to find information on some cool martial arts and research later.
Omg I binged that like a year ago
@@ep-wz8fu the manga is old af, I saw the anime, it was good but meh, they left out the best parts and also the 2nd season never came to be...
@@douxhc ik and if we are talking about old animes yuyu Hakusho is one of the best of it's era
@@ep-wz8fu damn thats some old s***, here was hard to get stuff, some people had dishes and we got to see Those Who Hunt Elves, Saber Marionette J, Bubble Gum Crisis, Ninja Scroll and some other weird stuff on BettaMax, until we got later better things like Ghost In The Shell, Evangelion, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Akira and of course everything Ghibli... Now is easy but back then you had to look for it hard, it has always been like that here (Cuba)
I love that Logan and Paul are fun to watch whether they’re doing the breakdown or sitting there making each other laugh. Great episode guys!
I'm going to assume you mean Chad instead of Paul haha. That would be funny if they were Logan and Paul.
I feel like it would've been worth mentioning that Joe's team used prior knowledge of sharks fighting style. sharks character was popular for having a short temper and fighting dirty, making Joe's aggressive defense strat THAT much more effective

GREAT VIDEO LIKE ALWAYS
Thanks again for the support as always. Is there any other fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown?
@@ScenicFights 🥺..... I would do another poll to ask the community. But another good martial arts anime I know of is very old but about a man who only fights with his hands only in a world where samurai still use katana. Called Shura No Toki (names longer but that’s the gist of the show name). A lot of the martial arts seems possible despite anime being known for its use of imagination. Only in the end he does something stupid and grabs a gun 🤷🏾♂️.
Its important to say that Shark as well as all the other fighters in the show uses boxing gear to amplify their strength. Thays why Joe's nickname is gearless, because he fights gearless
This video gave me such an invaluable info that it has made me realise something very important not as much about fighting but about my life in general. Many thanks to Chad for sharing his experties!
We agree with this comment. Fighting doesn't just occur in the boxing ring. It happens throughout life. Working for food, working for money, working for your goals etc...If you want to accomplish anything in your journey, you must believe in yourself first. That's half the battle.
A great quote from Creed is this: “You see this guy staring back at you? That’s your toughest opponent. I believe that’s true in the ring and I think that’s true in life.”

@@ScenicFights thank you very much for that response! You've actually enhanced the thought that occured in my mind quite a bit with that refference! I am going to go to sleep today with a rather fulfilled state of mind.
I actually used to think about it recently how it's important to never be at war with your own self whenever you face your adversaries. How can you defeat your opponent when you have to fight 2 people at the same time, right?
Megalo Box is a very underrated anime specially Nomad, it's a frickin' modern classic!

Good job on emphasizing the importance of mental state of a fighter here, not just technique
