I am not safe with power tools, ect, so I use a crimping tool to make my andersen plugs. Got caught once where my caravan andersen plug came out of the car connection, I was on my way to Echuca. Luckily it was a monday so the auto electrician put a new one on. He didn't stock them so hardware had one only on the shelf. When I got home I learnt how to do my own and carry spares. Can I also say make sure you put the lug up the right way when putting on the wire. I have had to remove and redo. Lol

Good on you, use what you feel more comfortable with personally if I had a crimping tool, I would probably use it myself just don’t do enough of this to warrant buying one maybe one day I’ll get one for those small jobs soldering. It is quick and easy for me Thanks for commenting.👍👍

How do you know which side of the cord is up? Will it only fit into the plug one way? As in if you have it upside down it won't go in or does it make no difference which way you put it in? Dumb question I know but when I don't know or understand something, I'm not too proud to ask.

Hammer seal your lugs after soldering, add heat shrink to each lug to seal it properly.

Cheers, thanks for that. I did not know that I will just clip them back out and give them a hit with a hammer.

      I wouldn't hit them with a hammer, you'll crack the solder.@@Sawadventures67

Why do you have a piece of black electrical tape stuck on your forehead.

You really don't have a crimper for those? That's a relatively small gauge wire, easily crimped by hand.
You really shouldn't solder high amperage connections. They can easily overheat and melt the solder out if they become corroded. You can buy a simple hammer crimper for less than 20$. Even using a large punch would be better.

I would crimp it if I was using it on something that was high amperage the solar panel that I’m using 4 amps I have a mate who works in the camping /electrical industry they have people coming back to them all the time saying something doesn’t work nine times out of 10. It is because it is a loose connection in an Anderson plug that has been crimped but I do understand what you’re saying about high heat for my application this is quick and easy.
