I bought a Stomp yesterday - it's my first Helix product. I really don't get on with digital effects but desperate to find a convenient way of just getting on with a simple recording without messing about with reals amps etc. I have never come across a digital effect simulation so close to the real thing in terms of feel and responsiveness. I have posted this comment in case you are one of those people like me who have experienced nothing but disappointment with digital effects simulators and modelling etc. It's no wonder people are using these Helix units as whole rigs. I will be using mine for direct recording. Good luck on your quest for tone !
It’s a pretty amazing little device, that’s for sure. I just realized that it has replaced almost everything on my existing pedalboard! Sad to look at those old pedals who are now very lonely sitting in a drawer.
I'm 50..very old... and there's just no way. The kemper is quite easy but this is like a riddle inside of a maze. Glad I saw this video though before buying it.

I'm so lost! I picked up a Stomp. Got home and immediately did the updates. Yeah now I have no idea where my factory are located. I'm on 01A and keep trying the different scrolling around the presets.
Thanks. BUT it was very hard finding this. I had bought the XL but was discourage trying to use it. Got it down from the closet and AGAIN looked for basic info. Not sure how I found this. Also do not know HOW to find the next. Am hoping to actually start using this product and not again put it in the top of my closet. Appreciate any basic help. Please give some consideration to the power supply for use in the UK. My HX Effects UK power supply went down after 3 weeks ON STAGE. The whole thing is FAR TOO FRAGILE + that is why I have to buy a new PSU in order to sell it ! If the L6 Stomp PSU is the same - it is pointless me buying it !!
I wish 4 cable mode was in global settings where you could turn it on/off and choose which types of fx go to amp input or fx loop. Would have been nice for users to have the option to use any of the fx or 4-cable presets instead of having them separated.
I just want to use it to record into my DAW, to replaced my ageing DOSS DR-880 which has a great guitar processor on board. How do I set it up to do that?

Hello, I bought this pedalboard and I tested on the amp's returno and it was too bad the simulations of amplifiers. You can make a video linking it on the amp's return and how to configure it. I realize that there is no way. Just a miracle. IT IS EXCELLENT BUT ON THE AMP RETURN IS HORRIBLE, BUT WITH CABS SIMULATION ARRIVES IN AN EQUITABLE ACCEPTABLE. LAMENTABLE ... CAN YOU HELP ME?
Very useful. I have a Mission Line 6 expression pedal and the HX Stomp recognizes it but it does not allow me to vary the sound of the volume or wah pedal assigned even though it is active and mapped to the block for a wah or volume. How do I fix this?
Guys a technical question - if my tube amp only has 1 dirty channel and an fx loop, can I use the stomp version with a 4 cable method to route the signal with a clean amp modeller through the fx loop and when using dirty, bypassing any amp blocks on the stomp and going from the front of the amp with just modulation fx in the loop? love the features of this unit
Good question. Perhaps it can use midi to switch your amp to the clean channel? But i'm guessing you're using a Peavey 5150 because it sounds like you don't want to use the amp's clean channel?
I have a boss EV5 expression pedal and a Boss FS6 dual foot-switch - so my question is, can I use them both on the HX stomp EXP input as the manual say you can use two external pedal to control the parameters. I’m opting to build a pedal board around the HX stomp and I need to connect both expression pedal and a foot-switch for more variety and real live user.

I desperatey want to save space and want reduce my equipment (I mainly play and record at home) - the HX Stomp seems to be a great way to do that. I love playing with effects so I need a capable FX unit. But I also love my Marshall JMP-1 preamp in conjunction with my Torpedo CAB. Is it possible to run my Marshall + Torpedo CAB in the Send/Return of the HX Stomp and program it that I have things like a compressor and EQ before the Send and after the Return have delay and some modulation?
I have a question, I play with 2 input signals (mic and pickup), sometimes I play only with the mic, sometimes with the pickup and sometimes with the mic + pickup at the same time. Can I create effects with HX Stomp by combining these signals?
Just bought an HX Stomp late March 2024. Updated firmware to 3.71. This video is not totally applicable to 3.70+ in that all of my presets say the preset name/location, like "01A New Preset"...."01B New Preset" up to "33A". Nothing but the tap tempo/tuner button is active; no other blocks are active. (that's fine; I get it) From there it's the same up to 42C then it rolls over to "01A" . There are no presets starting with "FX" for example.
OK, slow WAY down and explain what all these things are. I replayed some sections 5 times and still have no idea what was clicked and what it did. Example - starting at 2:12 "Scroll mode..." I don't even know how to get to scroll mode...
How do you run a 4 cable method to a real amp, but still use a modelled amp/cab for the "2nd" amp? Would that be a dual mono if run to the guitar amp/cab, or would it be strictly from the XLR or 1/4" output?
Here's my scenario: I want to run a traditional amp with an FX loop. I'd run a compressor, two overdrives into the front of amp and a big delay pedal (into amp's FX loop) with the HX Stomp acting as my reverb (or occasional chorus/overdrive if using 4 cable method) but also using a amp/cab sim as my second and WET amp, leaving my traditional amp mostly dry. Is this possible? Would it benefit me to just run my comp and overdrives into the guitar in vs the 4 cable method in this scenario? Thanks!
At 2:48 you say you can swap out the tuner to work as a third effect stomp? Does anyone know how to do this as its not in the manual and i can't find any instructions for it online!! Help!

Been using it for a couple of weeks, and it’s insane how it’s so difficult to save snapshots on the PC. I have to deal with the unit because somehow it’s easier to save snapshots on it. The sound is good, but I can’t get the reverb to sound as big as I’d like. Sometimes the sound won’t change even though the settings change. Not very satisfied with this, specially at this price point.
Could this be used to bring my hd500x into 2018? Use the hx stomp for amps and cabs etc, and use my hd500 for extra effects + expression pedal? Because that would be sick.

So while in Stomp mode ? It only makes sense that pressing switch 1-2 would go preset down and 2-3 go preset up does it do this ? if not it needs to in a future update
You wouldn't be able to engage an effect upon down press then, as the box would be waiting to see if another switch is pressed before deciding what you want to do. Double switch presses work well when navigating presets, but not when you need to turn a stomp on exactly on the beat.
@@AudacityWorks there's no reason to not have that feature or to have a hold function on pedal 1 and 2 to change the mode from stomp mode to preset mode
good point - or press 2/3 together to switch to preset scroll mode (switch 1 = up; switch 2 = down).. also press 1/2 together gives you a tuner. This would free up any extra switches for other functions and would take up less board space
I have the intention to use hx stomp as my only pedal board. But when running hx stomp in front of my tube amp running clean, even in a blank preset, before adding any blocks, I feel my tone is reduced. Lower volume and less "alive" compared with running straight into amp without hx stomp. Any settings etc in global settings to be considered? True bypass is by default?
Hello, I'm new to the digital world and I was wondering if the HX stomp could be used with a standalone power amp (or through the power amp of a tube amplifier) to power a traditional guitar cabinet. I have a Mesa Boogie JP-2C and a EVH 5150 III LBX going into a Mesa 2x12 rectifier cab and I was curious if I could use either of the two as just a power amp for the HX stomp. My Fractal FM3 is easier to figure out! They spit out the instructional like somebody that has used it for years and expect us to pick up on that high-speed word salad and remember everything. Might as well watch it 10 times, then maybe you'll get some idea of what was said?!
Your guys’ website and support suck. I could not register my Hx Stomp. I could not create an account. And I could not download the proper Firmware needed to have the stomp up to date. I literally bought this a few days ago and am returning it first thing tomorrow.
lol same as apple - spend all that time developing a product and zero time when it comes to powering it up - have to buy new power chargers every few years for MacBooks - the worst design. and in your case - why does someone who purchases this have to also go outside of the system and purchase cables and power supplies, etc - and why did you dare to include that lame power supply, to begin with - look at the design - did someone see it and say - OH THIS IS PERFECT -USE IT, BOYS! It's like a cheap toy and looks like it will break and it takes up the whole wall socket if it fits and is incompatible with so many adapters etc - what is the matter with these companies making us spend more money to power up the products and thinking it's okay? They expect us to fix the issue - they sell the products with known problems -
Someone's never used the Boss GT series before. I'll just say this. The GT-1 is the only multi effect that I create patches exclusively with the desktop editor. I've badly messed up patches to the point that I've had to reset the entire unit. The Stomp is a breeze, while having more features in the hardware AND software. I can give you the little Zoom pedal I got in '98 if that's more your speed.
Im looking to get the HX Stomp and use it ONLY for the poly capo function to be controlled by midi. My question is this...is there enough DSP to run 2 poly capo's at the same time? Keep in mind i wont be running any other FX from it at all.

Supposedly in this video they indicate there is a pure analog/relay bypass mode like a true pedal. It involves pressing two buttons at the same time.

need fx only unit of this size...
What differece would it make. ? Fx only doesn't add any extra features. Unless the price would be cheaper.
iyesh, HX fx is too big and too expensive, and the amps in helix unit isn't that good for me. hx fx in this size would be really awesome 👌

Someone's never used the Boss GT series before. I'll just say this. The GT-1 is the only multi effect that I create patches exclusively with the desktop editor. I've badly messed up patches to the point that I've had to reset the entire unit. The Stomp is a breeze, while having more features in the hardware AND software. I can give you the little Zoom pedal I got in '98 if that's more your speed.

Im looking to get the HX Stomp and use it ONLY for the poly capo function to be controlled by midi. My question is this...is there enough DSP to run 2 poly capo's at the same time? Keep in mind i wont be running any other FX from it at all.
