Best sounding patch was that boss pedal.
Absolutely, the HX version was darker, muddier and really not that close to the real thing.

I get compliments on my tone with every sound man I've ever worked with, and I think this thing sounds DAMNED good. The hardest sound to accomplish is the slightly dirty tube tone...not the full-on distortion...and a couple of those presets NAIL it. The most important thing about a modeler is...does it FEEL like an amp? I'd have to play it in person to be sure, but I'm impressed.
I have a Helix rack but this thing is so cute and compact it makes me want it also. Thanks for the demo man!

It must be the around ear headphones I’m using with my stomp XL but this sounds infinitely better than anything I’ve produced. Hopefully the presonus studio monitors I have arriving today will be the difference to dial them in.
Still on the fence about this unti. Love the form factor as it would sit easily on many pedal boards. But the sound patches or snapshots are a bit underwhelming except maybe for the cleaner tones. Really sounds digital as compared to the real pedal in the middle part of the video demo. Kind of wonder how long of life this unit still has compared to what maybe coming. Still for certain applications this unit may fit the bill for many.

If those distorted sounds are with the cabinet sims, they are horrifically bad.
Yeah, when I borrowed one from a friend I ended tossing a bunch of IRs for him and it made a world of difference.
It seems this will take quite a while to dial in your own tone for live use. Maybe this is great if you do not already have a pedal board or small multi effects floor unit.

How did you get names for each preset? Late 03/2024, just purchased an HX STOMP, & no presets have names.....none. Yet I see everyone all over youtube w/theirs in their videos & they've got the same names in their presets. How does one do this?

Output volume is too hot that is why distortion sounds horrible.

as with most multi effects units, anything not named overdrive or distortion sounds great. Question: is there any way to scroll through the patches besides the knob?

Hey, I am very interested in buying an HXstomp but just wondering if it comes IR ready or if you have to purchase IR's separately?
It comes with a large number of cab sims that are Line6 sims. They're not really IR's but basically are. You can add any IR that you want though. Whether purchased or found for free.

Why does some presets sounds like they would be played through monitors and recorded by camera mic? I feel them so far away... Can you make some presets that sounds more "in the face". Maybe clean one because distorted seems to be better. Thanks for your hard work.
Not an upgrade from a HD500X, especially when you consider there may be 2 people in the room that have any notion about tube amps or modelers and wouldn't know the difference anyway.
whats going on with 37b preset? Sounds going hevier without any manipulations....
The overdrive , distortioins and fuzz aren't the real thing ; you can hear it and probably feel it while you're playing.
All the other effects sound very good but that's mostly the case with time controlled effects when they are dgital

I have a helix, since it doesn't have one, I guess the stomp doesn't have one either.. 🤷♂️

A trick you can find here on UA-cam: You can use IR files recorded from acoustic guitars to get more realistic tones than by using an "acoustic simulator" algorithm!
If the trick works perfectly on a cheap impulse IR loader as the Mooer Radar, it will work on the HX Stomp for sure.

How can you determine its sterile sounding just by listening it from 1 source?

Derek Glowacki yes that’s because you’re listening from 1 source. That is not enough to make a judgement and we’re not even talking about players feel and tone under the fingers yet.

I’ve been trying with the Digitech RP 360 and Zoom G1x pedals and you can get the same sounds than this Line 6. The “box” is prettier and that’s it. The price is a joke... bad joke.
Clean tones are great but distortions are seems fizzy

Those DS1s didn't quite sound the same.
Very similar but more digital binary kind of harsh cutoff. Didn't sound quite as nice.
Hello, I bought this pedalboard and I tested on the amp's returno and it was too bad the simulations of amplifiers. You can make a video linking it on the amp's return and how to configure it. I realize that there is no way. Just a miracle. IT IS EXCELLENT BUT ON THE AMP RETURN IS HORRIBLE, BUT WITH CABS SIMULATION ARRIVES IN AN EQUITABLE ACCEPTABLE. LAMENTABLE ... CAN YOU HELP ME?

all the distortions sound thin . not worth 700 bucks . a cheap digitech sounds way better out the box. but .... the cleaner ambient sounds on this are dope .

Some good Sounds, some bad... all in all interesting Pedal.
Plasmafuse that’s why you create your own presets. Factory presets are usually garbage. You can make some amazing sounds with this thing.
Hmmm sounds no better than the RP360
The effects are a lot better than the RP360. You can also set the footswitches in all kinds of ways and control several parameters at the same time with one switch or expression pedal.

Surprisingly bad sounds of the Distortion sounds. The effects sound so narrow and cheap. Who wants this?
An Impulse Response or Cab simulator block would immediately tame those fizzy frequencies. That’s what the direct output of a distortion pedal sounds like.

I have the impression that all this new stuff, of various famous brands, sound still the same as 6-8 years ago. The only difference is an unbelievable higher range of price...

@@valebliz it's not a question of "All Old Fucks"... But you have a reduce function of the capacity of this pedal (less effects, less function than helix racks and floorboard) for a huge price (600€ in Europe $500 in USA).

Thanks, this demo convinced me not to buy it. Let's be honest it sounds pretty bad, especially for $600. You saved me money and it's much appreciated.
For those that think I'm some analog snob, I have a Boss OD 200 and it does a phenomenal job emulating classic dirt pedals like a Big Muff, TS 808, or Centaur. It's a shame Line 6 couldn't manage the same.
I've played it at a friend's house and it was going throw 2 pa.s sounded incredible.
Factory presets sounds like shit as in any line6 modeler.
