Can You Beat Fable 2 using Only Demon Door Loot?

- This is a Challenge Run to complete Fable 2 Using only what we can find within demon doors, that means
- We can only use the weapons, armour and equipment from Demon Doors
- No using shops or traders
- No using potions that are obtained outside of demon doors
- As THE Peter Molyneux removed the ability to game over if you lose all your health, we will be resetting and loading the most recent save
What makes this even tougher is that it looks like we cant even get into every Demon door, as they require us to gain loot outside of them which is just abhorrent and not allowed, Plus, this time there aren't any ways to break into the doors either

Haven't played fable 2 in roughly 10 years.
Main thing I remember is working as a blacksmith and breaking into my own home. I don't recall why, I was 16-17 so probably bored.
Ngl. I also smashed it as a blacksmith in my first pkaythroughs. Seemed such a good way to make some money at the time lol

Thank you! I do think the narrative definitely added to the fable videos. It's not something that is always going to be doable. But especially with some of the games that are more narrative focused it is fun to lean into what is already there.

This was probably an unintended side effect but THANK YOU for a better look at the Will Lines from multiple angles! It's so hard to find a reference for them online nowadays, especially one that pretty much has a 360 view.
Ha, no worries, im glad it was helpful, finding reference for some weird things in these older games can be difficult, especially when there isnt a PC release

You know, I feel like given how few Demon Doors you could even open like this, what would've been a bit of a more interesting compromise for the rules wouldn't been to allow non-Demon Door loot ONLY for the express purpose of opening said doors, like for example buying/finding a ring to propose for the one that gives you the Hammerthyst.
I love challenge runs, don't get me wrong but tbh I find that if one's restrictions are so big that they make you use pretty much the same one or two things for the entire game then it isn't all that exciting. Just wanted to drop my 2 cents there.
Oh and props for the patience of having to restart all over at the Crucible. I would've just given up myself

I can see that, but the game was already fairly easy, I didnt feel like I needed anything extra to help me along to get over the finish line. the basic strategy combat wise i dont think would have changed. the only thing i could have done was the one demon door with a jump scare, that could have been a good bit.

That was about a 6 on my tierlist of silly things inhave said. There was one part in the tenchu video that had me spitting feathers, there is a tricky one in the most recent acid video too

I'd have slowed time then super charged spells at the feet of them
Still very good job persevering
Two reasons.
1) I tried that and it didn't work
2) it didn't work because it only works on certain taunt animations (and the beginning of fights) and I was too crap to notice
3) bonus reason. I didn't find this out untill later talking to speedrunners

Thoroughly enjoyed your style of narration and humour. I watched your Fable I Demon Door video and this video back-to-back while doing some housework.
I feel you could have made the pre-rifle combat a lot easier for yourself by using the time control spell rather than summon, though. Set all the spells in the level 1-4 slot as control time, and use the slowed down time at each level as a way to progressively cast up to the next one. Once you have cast time control level 4, time is slowed down for long enough for you to charge up to a level 5 shock spell - then while enemies are stun-locked from that, you can start casting time control all over again. It is a bit tedious, but once you get into a rhythm with it nothing can ever really get near you and you get hit a lot less.
That is a solid strategy! one i didnt even really consider, definitely something to investigate if i come back to this game!

That was played on xbox series S, its currently on gamepass. The Xenia emulator is apparently OK for running it, I have heard mixed reports on how well it works though.
@@sirrando"Backwards compatibility" is a marketing term for Xbox consoles. (Unless you count the Series being able to run Durango games)

unfortunately, I am one of the people who isnt a massive fan of fable 3.
You never know though, if there is call for it, I might give it a bash and see how it goes, it has been over a decade at this point
The most surprising thing is how you didn't spam the slow time spell and basicly cake walk through the game.
it doesnt seem as busted without a melee weapon, and by that point, i already had a strong enough strat
@@sirrando nah man, cast a lvl 1-3 and it'll give you room to cast a max lvl one, from there you can hose most enemies down while they can barely move (refresh when its about 3/4ths done). pairs really well with aimshot button mashing's insane fire rate, lets you easily one cycle trolls. only downside is it makes fights too easy. I used to play magic only alot
One time, my brother and I played co-op and we killed Dash before he got to the fight location. My brother had his maxed out character and he sniped him from the Sandgoose.

Did any of you have the paw print show up on the map in placed you can't get to after "Bacon" leaves.
I don't know who put that in or if it was a glitch I introduced myself (I do speedruns so breaking games is inherent.)

I actually didn't know you could shoot Lucien in the end, - I always listened to his monologue and Reaver killed him
My first playthrough i let reaver do the dirty, but lucien just goes on and on.

Get a level 2 or 3 time spell and you can freely charge up your lvl 4 and 5 spells.
I know. Hindsight is 20 20, and I am kicking myself for not realising this at the time lol

i think lightning is probably the best AOE, and fireball is the best single target

Hey, I've tried to beat Fable 3 with only Demon Doors, and let me tell you, it's not fun. I can play Fable 3 quite well (as it was the first Fable game I've actually played) and lemme tell you, the demon doors in the game ask for too much. Like I have to deal with that one Merc at the start of the game before I'm able to get my first weapon. And even then, it's annoying! I was able to beat it, but Avo, I can see why you didn't want to try it.
The trolls can be killed easily with a slow time spell then level 5 AOE fire spell
I tested this and it didnt work.

@@sirrando Most of my exposure to British culture is through Dr. Who and the Fable series so I was curious there, we have BBC America over here in the US but that network works differently from the BBC over in great Britain to fit the American pallette.
I'm guessing you weren't okay with buying the noble gent's clothes to get instant love to then obtain the hammerthyst, but that's a pretty good early af weapon

I used to break a door and use the cost of the arena seal to earn infinite money as a kid in fable 1
Oh yeah, classic tactic. Buy house, add trophy, sell house for increased price, steal trophy, buy house for reduced price.
Also fun: find a trader that sells gems. Buy all his gems. Sell him back his gems for increased price (because they're now low/out of stock he'll buy them back for more than you sold them for) - this works exponentially well the more gems you have. If you sell him gems until he's overstocked, the price will drop continuously, but selling/buying in bulk doesn't account for this change, so you buy 100x at 90 gold and sell it back 100x at 200 gold

One thing has me curious. How have you played the game this long and not figured out that you can cast single target charged spells?
I do know about that, and I use multiple.if you are on aboutbthe trolls I say about that, when I tried, I kept getting blasted out of the charge up animation
@@sirrando A level 2 spell is nearly instant at max level and much higher in dps. It doesn’t have to be lvl 5, my bro.

Because I didn't have enough health to get through, and I wanted to use the level up trick.
But using it when I was already maxed out felt cheap, so I replayed the game and only used the level up trick when I really needed too

dunno why you didnt confusion the trolls and then hit with an aoe fireball...
as far as I know, AOE fireball only works on their taunt animation, which cant be triggered when they are confused
It isn't possible to take damage during a flourish, after getting that mace, only trolls and the commandant should have been rough points.
And they were the roughest points. flourish is OK, but youcan still get hit charging it, so Will still took the top spot for me
If you time the flourish well so It gets the slow-mo camera, you can charge the next flourish during slow-mo. It's atoundingly effective, you can be right up in a balverines face and it can't do a thing to stop you.
