The visiting hours of Matrimandir Auroville -
Weekday Monday to Saturday - 9:30 and 4:30
Sunday - 9:30 to 1 pm
Auroville Pondicherry was founded in 1968 by Mirra Alfassa, also known as The Mother, and is based on the principles of human unity, sustainable living, and spiritual development. The township is home to people from over 50 countries and is recognized by the Indian government as an international community.
One of the most iconic landmarks in Auroville is the Matrimandir, a golden spherical structure that serves as the spiritual center of the community. The Matrimandir is a place for quiet reflection and meditation, and its unique architecture and serene environment have made it a popular destination for visitors from around the world.
