    Kristi thank you for taking the time to publish your videos. The zig zag parting on top was an eye opener 👀 and so spot on with how they part their hair and the results💥 your explanations are fantastic. Thank you for what you do for us to always keep learning 🌞

    I love watching your videos! I am a nurse and am in burn out so I would LOVE to go back to school for Cosmetology. I also have dark hair and no one ever gets me in the first service. I am going into 4th service soon and just now a level 8 ashy like. I feel like someone does this for money and I get the work is hard and worth the money but I have yet to find someone who takes the time to do the detail you do!! Thanks for the knowledge and awesome tips!!

    I’m really glad you made the disclaimer that not everyone’s hair is strong enough to go back and reapply bleach then adding heat to it as well. However, if you have finer hair and do the same foil technique without going back with bleach, it should lift the same.

    How much bleach do you use at a time before you change your bleach? I feel like I’m wasting bleach AND Olaplex bc I’m such a slow foiler that by the time I have an hour in, my bleach is all puffy and has lost its strength but then when I mix too little I end up having to stop and remix ugh I guess I just need to figure it out

    • @hairbykristijennings6648
      @hairbykristijennings6648  3 роки тому +1

      If someone has super thick hair or long hair I’ll mix more. But I don’t ever mix all the bleach for the entire service. Or multiple bowls at once for different sections of the hair that I see some stylists do. That bleach dies before you get to it.

    • @angelinebiswas7611
      @angelinebiswas7611 3 роки тому

      @@hairbykristijennings6648 yes exactly. I try to do like one scoop or a little less than a scoop of blondme at a time and I still am so slow that I know it’s losing it strength so end up mixing lest more bowls every 30-45 min I guess I need to get quicker about foiling. There’s an app that a lot of stylists use to calculate product cost per ounce/ml/etc to see how much they’re actually spending on each service I need to figure out what that is and download it before I bankrupt myself lol

    I’m not a hairdresser but I love the knowledge you give about hair services
    I know pricing varies on a lot if things, but I’m in Nevada and my hairstylist for coloring services like balayage/toner + haircut charges $60 an hour and I have level 2 dark Asian hair but it’s on the “thin” side (thin hair since birth) so it normally takes 3.5 hours, so normally $210 plus tip for me. Sometimes if my hair needs extra TLC or being stubborn lifting or latching to toner, it will take a full 4 hours so $240 plus tip.. I think your charges are great.

    Where in Washington are you? I’ve gone to two hairstylists, who did both did a great job, but each session cost me around $400. I thought the second hairstylist I went to would charge me less because she was working out of her home, but she charged me more than the first hairstylist who has her own salon. I had medium length hair at the time and received a foilayage. She left the bottom of my hair brassy. Maybe she thought people wouldn’t see it? She could’ve used a different toner for it since it did not lift as much as the other parts of my hair. With tip, I paid her $460 for the service. I never told my husband. 😅

    The end result is beautiful! However, I believe a full balayage would have been better for her given how dark her roots are. There was way too much contrast between the hair underneath and the top. I'm glad she is going back to have a full done.

      @hairbykristijennings6648  3 роки тому +3

      Luckily from the last time we did her hair, all of her ends are nice and bright so you can’t really see the contrast when her hair is down. Also, sometimes that’s just what the client likes tho too and full services can’t always be done.

    God I wish u can do my hair. I think $200 is really good. I paid $240 each session 2 sessions and my hair is not as thick and she didn't get me to that level brightness. I finally got it bright myself..but having trouble moving the blonde up with toning it

    Do a video showing baby hairs around the hairline and widows peak hairlines. This is my BIGGEST ISSUE! We were always taught to not bleach them but I have some ppl who have a shitload of thick short baby hairs right at the hairline and sometimes like an inch-1.5 inch behind the hairline on both sides it’s so weird and if I don’t lift them they have basically black holes in their head but at the same time when I do lift, I get some spotting or it doesn’t look cohesive sometimes because I’m just not doing it right 🤦🏼‍♀️ ugh oh I guess I was typing this as you were talking about it lol

      It can be really hard especially just starting out..... I'd call around price check and maybe go just slightly less to get people in. Then when you're feeling more confident in your work and getting steady, go up to regular salon prices. Market yourself like your just starting out, trying to gain new clients, this is your introductory price. Tell them eventually after 2 services, you'll raise prices. When you start to book out like 6 weeks, raise again. Continue your education, UA-cam is great, you don't always have to spend tons of money.... always learn and get better and keep raising your prices as you get new clients. It will just naturally happen

    Honest client feedback?.. How much I'm willing to pay for a service as a client is determined on how fast u can get the job done & how close u get to what I asked for.. I've had slow ass noobs take a really long time to foil my hair so they "had to charge more" vs pros who were quick AND precise, I'd rather pay for experience.. our time is money as well. Being up front about cost at a consultation is helpful too. All about transparency & building clientele. I've always paid what they've asked.. but I didn't go back to the people who I felt ripped me off, or didn't listen or had add "this or that" treatment and not tell me how much it would jack up the cost. I reccomend pricing out by the average cost of a service in ur area.. if ur good, people will come back to you and not ur competition. Plus, I'm more willing to tip 30, sometimes 40% for a quick, bang up job! Love ur work!
