- In today's video I used the spinnerbait and frog to locate and catch bass. The frog proved to be an important tool in locating mid-day bass hiding in the reeds. The spinnerbait was key for provoking the bass hiding slightly deeper to bite. Having multiple presentations can be key in locating a pattern! I hope these tips help you on your next fishing fishing adventure!

*Great item. First cast out of the package caught a nice bass. Pulls smooth in the water and sets up nicely immediately upon retrieval. Worth adding to your tackle box.*

Can’t remember the last time we had a windy day to throw a spinnerbait. It’s been dead calm a hot as all get-out here in VA. Interesting that the bluegill pattern spinnerbait had willow blades instead of Colorado.

I had 6 little kiddo with me , and 2 hours to fish , by the time I got all their gears ready .. maybe 30 min left , no luck today .. but the kids had fun , sun fish and a couple of frogs
Bluegill color has been killing it for me lately too. Been throwing a fluke still and catching a ton. I’m waiting for the muck to die down so I can throw more spinners. Great video!

My favorite two lures are frog and especially spinners! My favorite is the booyah pond magic or the zinger.

we have a couple ponds on our farm. one year when we seined the fry out of the bass pond to put them into a tank where they could grow a little over half of them died by time we got to the holding tank because they were eating one another. Ever since that day i have had no problem throwing big baits thinking they would be to big for the bass to eat.
Yeah, they will eat whatever they can fit in their mouth if they are hungry!

Don't mean to spam the comments but fishing been tough lately. So now braid to 6 pound fluorocarbon leader, drop shot rig, with a fluke nosed hooked. I've been catching so much more fish. Good sized fish too.

Hahah thank you my man. I usually don't go crazy with trailers on spinners. A small shad colored keitech, a shad colored fluke, or no trailer at all.

Just picked up a Scum frog and I’m really itching to try it out. The best part of this purchase is that my wife (who is not into fishing at all) was the one who suggested we stroll through the fishing section. Then she saw the frog and said, “you like frog fishing right?”. This may very well be the best day of the year, I finally got a Scum frog and my Wife is the one who suggested I buy it.

Debo....Ice fishing I'll toss a frog. personally, I'd like to know how you rig for: (line/rod) Top Water, spinner, chatter. I have caught 2-3 lbs on spinners...but, I have some of my best underwater snags on them too.

I think that the spinnerbait it is a more generic bait, it's good for pike, perch, catfish, bass. So if you have in mind going out to do more for less, the spinner it is the choice i think. Takes less space too per number of spinners that you can carry with you.

Keep throwing them! That's the biggest thing is to just put time in on them.
I've never picked up a baitasting rod & reel. It always seems the baitcasting equipment takes the Fun outta the fight as opposed to spinning equipment. What'd ya think? Freshwater referring to.
I'm thr wrong guy to ask because I love Baitcasters. Both setups have their place IMO.

Also, I’ve seen my hook-ups on spinnerbaits sky-rocket when I sharpen the main hook +/- a trailer hook. Takes a few seconds, huge difference maker!

Caught my first ever frog fish Saturday. Lost probably a dozen before I finally landed one. Was doing all the recommended stuff and still lost a bunch before I caught the one. Everything but fishing straight braid.
did you slightly open the hooks with a pair of pliers? that's a major thing to increase hookups with a frog

Love the videos. Recently found your channel, working back through your library. Question: why do you use both right and left hand reels? You commented that you’re not as good setting the hook with a lefty. My son has shamed me into finally using a bait caster (used spin cast all my life). Nothing like a 60+ yr old learning something new!
I learned to fish on a open face spinning reel. Then I got myself a baitcaster, left hand retrieve, just because it seemed strange to have to switch hands. It just seems natural to reel with my left hand and cast with the right hand.
I just taught myself last year to use lefty. I've used right handed reels for 24 years, hard to teach the other side what to do 🤣 Good luck with the Baitcaster. Takes some practice but you'll have it in no time!

It was a zoom fluke in Tennessee shad.
When I first saw all that wind, and the chop on the surface, I was thinking Spinnerbait, or Whopper Plopper, but hey, anytime you can get a top water frog bite, it's cool! That was a really good day.
