I have seen a few of your videos and really enjoy them. I just wanted to comment that I really respect how gentle you are with the fish. I think you are more gentle than is necessary, which is commendable.
U should try a poppin frog, I also use to h8 frogs cuz I would nv catch anything on a normal frog but I started using a popper frog and I would catch more fish I usually walk the poppin frog but u should try them if normal frogs don’t work
I have zero luck with anything top water. They hit but always miss. I’ve never had one even try to hit a frog and I spent hours and hours getting good walking them
@@chribrian In fishing like everything else there's always exceptions to the rules, but one of the rules is topwater is better early in the day or late, especially so spring and fall. if they are striking you might be setting the hook too fast, count to two when you see a blowup on topwater and then set the hook hard. Tight lines
Most people that don’t get bit on frogs don’t throw them in the right places. Cloudy morning, don’t be afraid to throw it it the “muck” and you’ll get bit. If you’re throwing a frog in more open water, I would use a Zoom Horney Toad on a 1/4 oz keel weighted EWG hook or a Keitech Noisy Flapper.
YakAngler 4:19 I’ve thrown in different conditions, everything from blue skies to right before or after a thunderstorm, while raining, early morning, afternoon and late evening. I’m also fishing a lot of really pressured waters in urban areas which probably isn’t helping. Not afraid to throw in the muck, though. Most of the ponds here are getting pretty well covered in thick cover so I’ve been throwing the frog more than anything else.

Haha it's always an interesting time. That was a lure retriever. It's supposed to slide down and knock the lure free. Doesn't work when the lure is stuck behind something though 😂

I've had a blast catching these fish with the smaller frogs. They seem to be shy about hitting the bigger version. But I found a Xpress baits version of the jr size frog and they love them too. Oh,...life is good!!

I taught myself to use both. I like the lefty reels for cast and retrieve lures. I still like right handed reels for things that require a hard hookset.

You can, but braid is nice because of the strength. Usually frog fishing is done in areas that could knick other lines. Twitch on slack line so the frog doesn't "jump" as much with the no-stretch braid. Plus, braid will rip through all the vegetation nicely.
No, I wouldn't recommend fluorocarbon because it sinks. The lack of stretch in braid really helps on those long hooksets and when you get stuck in all that muck. I use a cheap mono as backing. Maybe 15 handle turns worth then 65 lb braid as my main line.

Hey, Debo's! Nice video on froggin! My buddy Hillers is a big frog fisherman. I am learning top water baits. Just got a black Strike King frog. Haven't tried it yet. I still am enjoying the Whopper Plopper. Don't know if Hillers and I will get out this week. It is really hot here in Indiana in the mid ninety's and very humid. Lots of Honey do list's. It's our 7 days off now trying to get things done at the old Homestead. It's not the Yellowstone ranch. But somebody has to keep this place up. How about a video on balancing work and fishing. Unless your independently wealthy and have sponsors to help you along the way. Hillers and I have to work and have worked during this whole time during the Covid 19. Great frog vid! I went fishing with my kids a few days ago, I grab a rod with a swimbait and another with a worm. My son decides to grab his frog rod which surprises me, he starts the day with a 3.5 pounder and ends and with 5.25lb. I caught 4 and I'd be lucky if they even totaled his one. The Lunkerhunt compact frog has been great, not too big and not too small but might to try one of those Swamp Donkeys, if only for the name!

You say you have a Lew's Speed stick. Does it have the small Fiji Concept O guides? Can you use a leader on braid with these guides? I have a 7'MH, and I have a problem with leaders.
Have you tried using a fg knot for your connection? There are several good videos you can find here on how to tie it and it goes threw guides well. I prefer to finish it with the rizzuto instead of the half hitches
Love the video! I tried frog fishing before the 4th holiday. Got a couple blow ups but nothing landed. Gonna keep at it because those blow ups were so exciting!

HEY DEBO, have u ever been creek fishing, I haven't but really want to cause I want to catch a lot of fish and using light tackle also works for trout, ponds and lakes so in my opinion I think it's the middle ground for multi bodies of water and species. I love it cause I can fish fines for bass and also know that I have a bite. And I'm moving to a place with a ton of creeks, ponds and lakes and stocked trout so would love to know if u would recommend that set up.

Have you tried using a fg knot for your connection? There are several good videos you can find here on how to tie it and it goes threw guides well. I prefer to finish it with the rizzuto instead of the half hitches

Love the video! I tried frog fishing before the 4th holiday. Got a couple blow ups but nothing landed. Gonna keep at it because those blow ups were so exciting!

Went out fishing early afternoon and dedicate 2 hours to the frog. Caught 3 small ones and one hog! It was awesome! Thanks for all the tips and encouragement!

Its a good thing the hooks are tucked up on those frogs... that would have been an embarrassing trip to the ER had that one hookset been on the ol' whopper plopper.

I do love catching them on a frog. I've made the same mistake of not wanting to put a topwater lure down just because I love it so much. I have to tell myself come on just throw something that will get bit. 👊👍
You can't force it, but it's worth trying every time you're out. I found that if I don't get a frog bite in the first 15 casts, it's time to either change lures at the same spot or change spots to try the frog elsewhere.
I've had the frog lull me into throwing it all day a few times 😂

HEY DEBO, have u ever been creek fishing, I haven't but really want to cause I want to catch a lot of fish and using light tackle also works for trout, ponds and lakes so in my opinion I think it's the middle ground for multi bodies of water and species. I love it cause I can fish fines for bass and also know that I have a bite. And I'm moving to a place with a ton of creeks, ponds and lakes and stocked trout so would love to know if u would recommend that set up.
I honestly don't do much creek fishing anymore. May have to try and find some spots!
