PS2 Laser Replacement and Repair Guide - Playstation 2 Model 50001

This is a fairly straightforward PS2 laser replacement and repair guide. This PS2 in particular would not read DVDs. Potentiometer adjustments did not solve the issue, so a new laser it was.

Is the laser is the reason why my load ups are kinda slow?

First check if the laser is smudged or dirty. Worst case you’ll need to adjust the potentiometers.

Are the KHS-400C lasers reliable in a 50001 model?

Blue discs are CD based games and PS1. Most PS2 games are silver DVDs so technically no. If you replace the laser, blue should work regardless though.
