Traveling On The Pan American Highway Looking For Perfect Surf Ep.50
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- We're in El Salvador looking for perfect surf while traveling on the Pan American Highway from California to Panama. We explore the beaches, camping in our expedition vehicle at Cocolito, El Zone, and Punta Mango and find uncrowded winter surf in El Salvador. It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt.

Dope Video! Sending blessing your way, Keep inspiring!🎒🙌🏻
Nice little point break you found.
Yeah. wish we could have surfed more of that last swell. But that's part of surf travel I suppose
Nice vedeo thanks , I love it,
I love your channel and discovered it while i was on holiday in El Salvador for 6 weeks in 2018 ive been hooked since. im from Australia and you guys inspired me to start a You tube channel of my own, i love watching Matt surf he rips! thanks again and safe travels
Thanks. Glad you're enjoying it. I appreciate your positivity
I just discovered this channel and I’m hooked. I hope y’all enjoyed El Salvador and the pupusas. I’ll be visiting in 2 weeks.
Thanks cerka. El Salvador was great and we ate tons of pupusas! hahaha
I hope you have a great trip!
You guys skipped the best surfing spot in El Salvador, El Tunco. El Zonte looks awesome, greetings
Episode 50! Congratulations guys!!! Thank you for the mention - we loved chatting with you and learning from your experience. Cheers!
Thanks for having us on
Great episode and tunes...you can tell Matt gets in a great mood after scoring surf
Nice bhai jan
Awesome as always!!! But can I make a special request? Would you guys do a quick and dirty video about surfing for those of us who nothing about surfing? Like, what’s a swell, what makes some waves surfable and others junk? Keep it up, guys!!!!
Oh, OK. Thanks for the request Scott. I'll have to think about how to make a good informative video on that.
Here's my best at writing the basics. I hope it helps
Swell= wave energy that is created by far away storms that can travel 1000s of miles across the Pacific Ocean before hitting a beach where it finally breaks as a ridable wave.
We watch swell forecast online (just like you may watch a weather forecast) to predict when a swell will arrive and where to be to get the best waves from the swell.
Different beaches make different kinds of waves due to something called bathymetry. Which basically means the shape of the beach. steeper beaches generally make steeper waves. Different people like different kinds of waves. I like my waves steep. Beginners usually like less steep waves.
Bonito y simpatico Video
Dang, I hate to see either of you guys hurt , but both is terrible ! Looking forward to seeing both of you healthy! Wonderful places. My son visited us here in Mexico in October and went into anaphylactic shock as a reaction to a new antibiotic he started the night before he flew here . When he started looking like a Klingon, his fiancé and I convinced him to go to the local ER. In and out in less than 2 hours. All free and the take home meds as well . Not just El Salvador ! Thanks guys !
Wow. that must have been scary. I've gone into anaphylactic shock a few times from bee stings, so I've got to carry an epipen with me now.
Glad it all worked out OK for him
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal The funny part is that for weeks, he had been worried about his sweet fiancé having an asthma attack or something while they were here, not him to the ER! Glad you have the Epipen!
Haha. Yeah, we always worry more about the ones we love. Sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves.
You guys are the best
Super glue for those deep cuts, sterilize first of course
So much adventure!!!! We've managed to play it safe while traveling and have avoided any injuries, but now that I say that, one of us will get hurt soon!
oh no!!!!! Jinxed it
Matt & Amy,your not cooking much in the B.B. Is it just easier/cheaper to eat out? How much did this burgers really cost? Mahalo.
I rolled my ankle and lacerated my face on a fin last month. Paying dues for surf. Next trip pack some Tegaderm patches , Benadine antiseptic , and some small sharp scissors to customize the patches to the area of the cut. See you in the lineup 🤙
Thanks Peter. I have carried Benadine as part of my usual kit for many years, but I'll have to checkout Tegaderm patches. Thanks for the recommendation.
😢 I know you’re better but owww, bummer about your injuries!
Oh yea, right, perhaps should of had enough patience to of watched your vlog to the end. I remember traveling in a whiny with all the bells and whistles with my wife in Europe. It ended in a divorce. Feliz viajes.
No worries. We try to be accurate with any info we give or representation we make of our travels. It may be more entertaining to exagerate things but it doesn't really help anyone out. Sorry traveling didn't workout well for your marriage. Hopefully it's for the best.
How did the modifications you made to the camper shell hold up over all those rough roads ?
I love the rig and the simplicity of it , I camp out of my truck often and prefer it for travel and
boondocking over RVs and campers I have had in the past . Like the videos
Camper has held up well. No problems at all.
Thanks for watching
You need to just put some superglue in your med kit. That could of saved you a ton of time.
Thanks. We do carry super glue, but I have found it doesn't hold up well to long soakings in saltwater ;)
The cut wasn't that bad anyway. It was really the bruising that kept me from getting back in the water. I couldn't move right for weeks.
I don't see the link for the podcast in the description! would love to hear it.

No plans yet. We're still working hard to rebuild our travel funds. Hopefully we'll be hitting both of those events in 2020 on our way to Alaska.
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal gotcha. If you remember by then, give me a shout when in BC and I'll tag with you for a bit possibly or take you some spots.... whichever :)
