    During that storm, first thing that came to my mind was high tide. Another great video👍

      Hurricane Alley we definitely made sure to be above the high tide line. As surfers we knew when and how big the swings were, but that river and some flash flooding could have been scary. Fortunately Costa Rica was well into the rainy season so it was unlikely. That kind of rain is par for the course down there.

    A knowledgeable massage therapist is the way to go. Oftentimes it's just strained muscles.

    So many things to love. Wild Crocs, awesome live music soundtrack, satellites and optimism, drone shots, not getting stuck on the beach, and Amie’s smile, especially out the BB window!

      That's so nice to hear. We think it's so cool that a lot of our viewers have done or are planning to do some travels like ours through these areas. It keeps us inspired :)
      The next big adventure... is still in the planning and saving money stage I'm afraid. We really want to spend a couple years traveling around Africa but we don't have the money, so we may chose to go to Alaska for a few months in 2020 and then resign to stationary life to focus on saving for Africa

      His bed is on a box in the cab of the truck level with the windows. We usually leave him in there or if we have the mosquito net set up under our awning, that's an option.

    Could u give me your favorite places to retire and surf, based on your experiences....please....

      That is something we had in the back of our heads during our travels. Lots of factors Come into play, but I think the main one is how a place feels to you. There is an intangible that makes a place one person's paradise and another person's stop along the way.
      Our list of places or regions that brought up the conversation for us included:
      Southern Pacific Coast of Cost Rica (checkout the episode when we release it on Sunday)
      Rivas District, Nicaragua
      Michoacan/Guerrero, Mexico
      Baja, Mexico
      Hope this helps

    I saw one of your videos where your swimming with a buoy
    May I ask what type/kind/brand etc it is

    • @TheTravelingTogetherJournal
      @TheTravelingTogetherJournal  2 роки тому

      I got it many years ago so I don't recall the brand. It's just one of the many inflatable "torpedo" buoys on Amazon. This one looks pretty similar: amzn.to/3EvuBx4

    What troubles did you run into with a dog?

    • @TheTravelingTogetherJournal
      @TheTravelingTogetherJournal  5 років тому

      Our dog was pretty old when we set out on this trip and his health naturally worsened over the 2 years we spent traveling. Our only issues with the dog were centered around finding him a good vet or finding his medications when we needed them, but once we figured it out it was much cheaper. The only other issue was when we wanted to stay in a city. very few cities were "dog friendly". In David, Panama we had to stay in a pretty sketchy hotel while we were getting work done on our truck because none of the 20 other hotels we went to would except a dog.
      We only technically had proper paper work for the dog at 1 border crossing the entire trip. Crossing into Belize we got him a fresh health cert in Mexico, but didn't pre apply with Belize and had to pay a fine to grant him entry. Crossing into Panama, they wanted up-to-date paperwork that we didn't have, but there was a veterinarian at the border that could produce it for us. The rest of the time the agents excepted our out-of-date health certificate from USA or just didn't care about the dog at all.

    would you say road tripping through Central America is safe?

    • @TheTravelingTogetherJournal
      @TheTravelingTogetherJournal  3 роки тому +1

      This trip was filmed before the Covid19 pandemic, so I don't know the current situation, but we enjoyed the trip, generally felt safe, and would happily do it again.

    9:20 uh too bad you don't have a massage therapist with you...

    • @TheTravelingTogetherJournal
      @TheTravelingTogetherJournal  5 років тому +1

      mwilliamshs after an injury it’s out of my scope to even touch something like that for 72 hours. The pop and down the back had me very concerned. Before his adjustment which I know when a neck or back needs adjustments too. I did massage his neck at least twice. Adjustments work best after massage. As you know I’m the head filmmer so I guess I didn’t think to pull the camera out 😉
