  • With comfort on one side and performance on the other, the 2023 Audi Q5 sits right in the middle delivering the best of both worlds. With Mercedes-Benz generally favoring comfort and BMW leaning into the performance realm, how does the Audi fare in between those two luxury makers? Mark Takahashi takes us through his review of the 2023 Audi Q5, and this one is a Sportback!

Put the transmission in S mode or use the dynamic drive setting to get rid of the initial acceleration lag. The matrix LED headlights are jaw dropping and my favorite part of this car. Need to get the prestige trim though.

Those who can afford it, it's a good choice in its class. Though like all BMWs, likely best to lease it instead of buying. An Audi that's out of warranty can become a troubling thing.

Would normally agree with you regarding _most_ brands. But you definitely don't want to get stuck with out-of-warranty repair bills *when* a BMW or (even worse) Land Rover breaks down. Not a question of "if." Other brands, mostly expensive German ones, also fall into this category.
You could buy, and then immediately sell off a car after about 3 years or when it hits a certain mileage. Whichever comes first. But you'd lose far too much money on that sort of transaction compared to leasing one of those vehicles and giving it back to the dealership at the end of the warranty period. No worries, the dealerships have zero problems finding sad posers who simply must play pretend and show off how successful they are in Life by riding around in a 3 year-old (or even older) BMW. Let those geniuses bankrupt themselves when their older Luxury vehicles break down, and they get the first repair bill that they have to pay themselves.

All cars out of warranty are a troubling thing--the owners has to be ready financially to take care of expenses.

Some less troubling than others, depending on the brand.

I must be in the single digit percentile of people who can fix one of these and afford one too.

I decided to get the Q5 regular instead of the Sportback. I’ve owned a q3 Sportback for the last 3 years and I have to admit - practicality take a hit on long roadtrips for the sake of vanity. Needless to say , visibility does take a hit as well. Here is Switzerland, cars are expensive and I paid around 68k Swiss francs after all discounts. I leased it for 4 years.

I hate those taped on looking screens. A screen needs its own recessed slot

Why wasn’t this compared specifically to the BMW X4 and a Mercedes-Benz GLC coupe?

So apart from the sloping roof & different base engine in the SportBack Q5, is there no other difference compared to the regular Q5?

I will always choose Audi's ICE vehicles because there are so much aftermarket parts support, there is a large community forum base for help, tuner friedly, lots of easy DIYs (oil changes that you can do every 5k miles, spark plug & coils, etc.) to save you money post warranty. that you do not need to purchase Audi Care plans, parts are cheaper than BMW.

Coupe "sports back" like is old school. Go google Plymouth Deluxe Slope Back. My grandparents had a green one. We called it the turtle. Ive always liked the "sports back" look.

    3 biggest drawback:-
    1. Cup holders are far behind, plus if your hand rest is open,
    then it becomes more difficult.
    2. Like other brands including Japanese brands, they all show the 4 tire pressure status and if it's low, it will also show which tire needs the air pressure. But in Q5 or SQ5 it will only pop up the message 'check tire pressure' or 'right rear low' but how much low it won't show.
    3. Rear seat. They have a big bump in the middle. They should have kept it flat.

I purchased the S4 but, If I was to do it again? I would buy the SQ5. Not because I need the space, but because it's such a good looking SUV within the price range.

CarGurus you think it’s not great but you’d be surprised. Besides you can do so much worse than this in just about every way😂.
Compare that to this and the q5 sport back is better
