CORRECTION! The Jamo S ATM Atmos speakers are only compatible with the S807 and S809 towers and S803 bookshelf speakers. My bad! Just get an extra pair of S801 bookshelf speakers to mount instead. :)

First off, I own the Jamo Studio Series S 803 Home Theater package, and while I'm not an audiophile, I have never once considered upgrading them. Seeing what others have paid for much higher end systems, I cannot believe I paid less than $200 for those speakers. With that being said, a quick comment on the Jamo S 8 ATM speakers. They can ONLY be used with compatible Jamo Atmos enabled speakers. The only connections on them are some studs on the bottom that fit into slots in the top of the bookshelf (or tower) speaker. Therefore they cannot be mounted on a ceiling or wall, and I believe they do not work with the Jamo Concert series speakers. They must be placed on top of another Jamo S 8 series speaker. For that reason, I would recommend (as you did in your other video) getting another pair of Jamo S 801 speakers to use as heights (for a cheaper price mind you). Love the videos, I look forward to each one that comes out. Thanks!
Another great video. I love how Elan tells you it’s not the best money can buy. I feel that is what most people have as a budget. I also like Costco products
Great video, Very helpful.
Great video man!!! I’ve got the Jamo towers with the 3 woofers, their center, and book shelf’s for the my rear channels. They are very hard to beat! The only thing I’d change and yeah it’s crush the budget is recommended a receiver with pre amp outputs.
Another superb video!
Another great video Ealan. FYI the Klipsch 12" subwoofer goes on sale for $189 at times @ Costco. For that price, I purchased one to add to my beginner budget system.
I absolutely love your videos!!! Thank you for all the knowledge and amazing suggestions! Your videos are very informative/educational and fun to watch. Thank you for all the hard work! Before you know, you will have a million subscribers. And you deserve it!
Thank you very much!!! That’s the goal! 😁🤘
@@ealanosborne can you do a video about the recent Masimo corporation acquisition of Sound United? I don’t understand why a medical company feels the need to buy a home theater company and what that means for us consumers. StopTheFOMO UA-cam channel did a video about it a few days ago.
@@JC-kh5ls Yeah, I've been meaning to look into that! So weird!
Hello very good video, I am a Cuban fan and I would like to know if the Klipsch Reference Cinema Dolby Atmos 5.1.4 sound better or are on par with the Jamo Studio Series S 803 HCS-BLK, I have a logitech z906 as 5.1 and I'm in looking for an option that is not so expensive but that sounds good.
Awesome sir!
All these options are on point!
Now if only AVR manufacturers could stop excluding pre outs on thier mid to low level tier, as this would make those AVR's more desirable. It's a total waste of natural resources and potential landfill because of people who want to upgrade to pre outs 🤷 just had to vent. 😊
7:34 - Please note the Atmos modules will not work on the 805's. I have the 803's, 805's and the 809's and the 805's are the only ones without them. But why not just buy 2 brackets and put bookshelf speakers on your high channel anyways? Great video once again.
Hi, not sure this is best for this question, but I also have a wife, and a very open floor plan, so surround speakers don't seem viable. my question is, is it worth exploring a 3.1.2 front stage only? I could easily incorporate 2 height channels. or perhaps I should just get a sound bar and call it a day.
A timely video considering I'm currently researching systems in this price range. One issue I found is that some of the Klipsch speakers on Amazon are sold by 3rd party sellers (even though it says "The Klipsch Store". Look at the "Sold by" description to see the actual seller. On the Klipsch web site they specifically call out Amazon sellers by name that are not authorized sellers, thus no warranty. Sold by Amazon, or buy at Costco is fine - they are authorized. Amazon resellers? Best to check the Klipsch web site. Comments?
I feel like that’s always a risk in general when purchasing online. I’ve only had great experiences with both Costco and Amazon. But I guess I’m lucky? Seems it’s not something that should raise too much alarm, since it’s just risky in general to order off Amazon. Just the way it goes. 🤷♂️
Greetings Mr EO. Your explanation about these Home Theater bundles is very good. I have some doubts. All these bundles that you mention can work with the same Receiver??? and the other thing is, do I use some of these bundles to configure a kareoke??? Thanks
Yep! All the receivers mentioned are great entry level products that can run all the budget speakers suggested. It’s only once you get into speakers that are thousands of dollars each that you’ll need a more powerful receiver. 👍
And as far as karaoke, all receivers these days have some sort of analog audio input for a CD player or turntable or karaoke machine.
Thanks for this!
I wold be interested in this price range (maybe slightly higher) to compare sound bars like Sennheiser, Klipch 700/800, and Sony atmos w/surrounds.
I’m new to home audio so I’m try to figure out what a really good entry level system is without getting too crazy and overwhelming the wife.
Stay tuned to Jonah Matthes’s channel very soon! He and I will be collaborating on that very topic, comparing sound bars to wired systems in this price range! 🤘
Thanks for the info. I wish it wasn't just based on low price. It would be more helpful if you actually listened to all your product suggestions and then made recommendations based on audio quality for the price.
Look up Micca speakers on amazon, They are my budget option of choice there amazing for the price
Love this! Just got my hands on the Klipsch Reference Tower Speakers from Costco! So excited to get it going. I am having trouble finding that Onxyo AVR on Costco though. Do you by chance have a link?
In the video I mentioned the receivers are always on rotation, never in stock at the same time. Right now it’s the Denon and Yamaha showing up, so I imagine the Onkyo will appear once again sometime in the near future. 🤷♂️
@@ealanosborne thanks for the reply! Yes I will definitely be watching out!
Great video, in your opinion for a smaller living room do you think I should go with the Costco bundle or the RP route. Was also thinking about the SVS 5.1 system.
Depending on your budget, I’d rank those 3 options as follows: 1) Klipsch RP bundle 2) SVS 5.1 and 3) Costco Bundle.
SVS squeaks in at number two because getting anything from them means you deal with their unmatched customer service. I’ve known several people admit to becoming a loyal SVS customer after their first purchase from them, as opposed to dealing with a giant corporation like Klipsch. 🤘
@@ealanosborne I went ahead and bought the Jamo concert series speakers and the SVS PB1000 Pro. Extremely happy thank you for your feedback and introducing me to Jamo. Look forward to more awesome videos!
@@DCMINECRAFTGUY NICE! What a fantastic combo!
What's your input on klipsch RP-504C? I'm debating on getting this with my setup I'm piecing together
It's great! Extremely sensitive, so you don't need a lot of power to get it loud (which is typical for Klipsch in general), and it's large and fairly inexpensive, compared to similar center channels. I have a bunch of links in the description for most of the speakers I mentioned throughout the video! :)
just bought this bundle at costco with the denon 760 reciever! Got the sub for $50 off and bought the reference at full price online. Bit the bullet as my costco seemed to only have the 5.1.4 in store
Nice! Good deals, all around!
My system is Jamo as well... very affordable and I feel like I am in a movie theater.
My guy Ealan, thanks a ton for making these informative home theatre setup videos. Because of you, I was able to set up my first 5.1.2 sound system with Klipsch 5.1 reference pack and a Sony STR DN1080 AVR. I am thinking of upgrading it to a 7.2.2/4 setup. Just like this video, could you suggest AVR, Amp, and speaker set for this future setup?
So if you’re not dealing with “budget” and a more middle tier system, I’d suggest an Onkyo RZ50 or Pioneer VSX-LX505 since they both have Dirac Live room correction (best on the market right now). Emotiva BasX amps are still the best quality without breaking the bank. Although OSD and Outlaw Audio offer slightly more expensive/more powerful amps if you can budget for it. And lastly, Aperion Audio Novus or SVS Prime speakers. Or if you can afford it when the time comes, Aperion Audio Verus or SVS Ultra speakers. 🤘
@@ealanosborne Sweet. Do you have any recommendations for Klipsch speakers (mostly looking to upgrade the front 3 channels)? If possible I would like to continue using my current speaker set since I bought them like 8 months ago. My wife may not approve a speaker set "upgrade" on the expense report for another year or so.
@@div0007 Next I’d go for the RP series from Klipsch. Here’s some towers that are on sale:
howl.me/chVze5iSlz4
Or these bookshelf speakers are really popular, and on sale as well:
howl.me/chVze5iSlz4
Another great video Ealan. Just one question. You said in another video you no longer recomend upfiring atmos speaker. Yet most of these option include upfiring atmos. So do you think upfiring is a good budget option to get atmos? I'm thinking about adding atmos to my 5.1 system, and still undecided on how to best do it.
In order to stay within budget, up-firing is still the cheapest option, especially when they’re built into the tower speakers already. But if you can work it out to get even little bookshelf speakers (like Jamo s801) for Atmos, I’d still recommend that over up-firing if it’s still in your budget.
@@ealanosborne Hey Ealan, do you think Jamo's Contractor Series 6.5CS would be a better alternative for a new install in an unfinished ceiling instead of trying to figure out how to mount the s081s on the ceiling? If so, then I just have to figure out how to tackle the soundproofing/reduction associated with in-ceiling speakers. Thanks for any feedback!
@@b.christiansen Oh nice! Yeah, the architecture series would be perfect for new construction. My only advice on acoustic treatment would be maybe a narrow strip on the ceiling between the TV and in-ceiling speakers, then another narrow strip between the speakers and your listening position. Not much, though. No need to go overboard. 😁🤘
you need too look at polk speakers, with a sub you can get a set for 792dollarsa 5.1.2!! these are not the best but for a starter set not to bad!!
Hi Ealan, I have a question, I have a denon 6700h and a sony a90j set up the tv is running to my ave via eark. My issue that when im streaming from hbo max I can only turn my volume up to 64. It will not allow me to go higher. Is there settings in my avr I need to adjust take the volume louder. I'm confused.
Hmmm…maybe set your main volume to 50 just as a good baseline, run Audyssey again, then go back in to manual setup and adjust output volumes for your speakers individually. Seems rather bizarre what’s happening currently with your system, but I haven’t experienced it myself, so I would start with the steps above and see what happens. 🤷♂️
Can you do your dream set up, money being no issue? Explain why you choose each speaker/equipment piece, please?
Great idea! I’ll see what I can do in my upcoming schedule!
Hi there, I am currently looking for a pair of bookshelf Speakers 🔊. No plan on getting a sub so I prefer the speakers with good bass. I understand that I need a 2 channel amplifier as well. My budget is $500. What would you recommend?
I haven’t dealt with 2 channel Hi-Fi systems as much as I’d like (yet!), so I’d suggest checking out Cheap Audio Man who has done lots of videos about your situation. 😊👍
Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but the Jamo Atmos modules are only compatible with the S series bookshelfs and towers (805, 807, and 809). They won't work with the concert series. But... you could get a set of C91 bookshelf for about the same price to use as the height channels, so same same! 🙂
Yes, I made a correction in the description of the video. Still strange that they made them that way, and not have their own binding posts. 🤷♂️
Excellent video except for the printed information of alternative home theater systems that you scrolled up the screen, perhaps you could verbalize that type of content, for those of us who cannot see the screen.
Hey big question: i understand this is somewhat blasphemous but I don't have any other choice atm: is it safe to connect an old 5.1 system to an atmos AVR? The speakers are 6 ohms, individually and the AVR out is 8ohm. But the woofer has an amp: I'd basically be connecting the speaker output of the AVR to the line level input of the woofer amp, leaving it to do the impedance handling for the indiviual speakers. Would this be safe and not damage the AVR as long as I dont go overboard on the woofer amp's gain knob?
As far as I know, it should be fine. Atmos AVR or not, they’re all still capable of powering even a 2.0 system and up. Many people might get an Atmos enabled AVR, start with a smaller setup and add more speakers over time. Atmos might be the ultimate goal, but 5.1 can still be done in the meantime.
Just curious, what 5.1 system are you currently dealing with?
@@ealanosborne The impedance was the reason I asked... Usually if the speakers have less ohms than the amp it can make the amp overheat and crack over time. But I figured since there's the line-level amp stage in between the AVR and the speakers, this second amp would impart the correct impedance. it's a Genius SW-HF 3600 (120w) the wooden one... please don't laugh ^^ query it, they really sleek and sturdy. It was mid-tier in '00 when I bought it, decent quality, not at all the flimsy pc speakers genius were known for..
Also thank you for your work!
Do I need Amp for this setup?
Like an external amp? No. All these bundles are based on using the internal amps of your receiver. But if you meant a receiver in general, yes - all these bundles include the price of a receiver, which is necessary to power the speakers. 🤘
Is every 7.2 receiver able to support 2 subwoofers ?
These days, yeah, pretty much. 🙌
Thanks for the video. I’ve got to tell you the echo is distracting. Can you throw down some rugs, move in some soft furniture in that room.
Once I get my testing theater set up, I’ll be filming in there. Hopefully soon! 🤞
@@ealanosborne Awesome. Love the channel.
Do you feel that the Jamo speakers are better than Klipsch?
No, I wouldn't say better. They're very similar, actually. But I like the look of Jamo speakers better, TBH. More style options and better overall attention to aesthetics
I jamo is always recommended for entry level HT systems but when I check reddit or other places a lot of snubs hate it just like klipsch but I'm more down to believe people like you. Because they always end up recommending like 800 to 900 kef speakers that they are too much for someone starting.
Exactly. Of course everyone would benefit from having a fully decked out KEF system, but it’s so expensive! For what it’s worth, Jamo and Klipsch are just fine. My Klipsch 5.1 Reference Theater Pack was perfect for me when I first started my home theater journey. But once I got more expensive speakers, only then did I realize the benefit of gradually spending more over time. It really does make a difference. But I was perfectly comfortable in my noob Klipsch bubble for awhile. 😄
@@ealanosborne I was thinking about that klipsch RP that you mentioned as the best in that price range. Thanks for the video and the advice.
The bug you have just left in people's ears may bear fruit (and viewership) in no time at all LOL... market availability permitting.
I want things back to normal again. 2 years is a loooooooooooooong time. ): THX Ealan
thanks a lot, Ealan!!!!!! Now my wife wants a divorce...! LOL just kidding! this is, as usual with all your videos, very very very great stuff! cheers!

Yeah, I know… 😭 Although Adorama technically has the same bundle for not much more than Costco did…👇👇

Aw, sorry mate. 😬
@@ealanosborne Look like sweet value speakers though :)
Excellent video Ealan as usual. I have the Jamo s803 HCS and there amazing for the price, $189. I have them paired with a Denon S760h and an Elac 1010 sub. I was looking at the Jamo c910.sub but the Elac got better reviews. I also have a Denon X1700H coming soon. Gonna see if there's a difference between that and the S760H and make a choice between the two.
Yeah, the X series chip processes audio a bit better than the S series, so I think you might like the X1700h if you can still afford the price difference. 🤘
