This is my second HT setup in the last 10 years. I can't believe the price to performance compared to my first Okynko set. I picked up a pair of 805's ($200) the 803 - 5.0 set ($165) and the 810 subwoofer ($150) bringing the total to $515 (less tax). I'm using my 801's as satellite rears and the 803's as top channel for a 5.1.2 with killer top channel presence. I found the Onkyo TX NR6050 for $320 open box which brings my grand total well under $1k with mounting brackets, wires etc. Jamo and Onkyo are budget kings although they are more V or U shaped... not flat but as a HT setup I like the curved presentation. Thanks to channels like yours for shedding light on these guys.
Thank you! 🤘
I love your buy guide! Thank you, Ealan 👍
Oh lord. JAMO is one of favorite speaker brands. The jamo concert 9 series is probably the best speaker I have ever own.
Looks like I am getting Jamo freaking speakers now! Thanks brother!
Heck yeah! 😁
I've been running Jamos in a small gaming room for quite a while now. I have the S809 towers, 803 for surrounds, S83 Center (these 5 cost $400) then added the S8ATMs for around $150, and bought 4 of their S810 subwoofers. They were $119 each. Not too bad of a gaming setup for just over a grand. I am powering them with a Sony 790 receiver that I got on sale for $280. I wanted a nice setup for under $1500. This made the most sense to me at the time.
4 subwoofers? isnt it overkill? :O :O :O wtf :O i never heard of anybody go for 4 subs...
Great video as usual Ealan! I love jamo gear and have a few of their speakers in my 5.1.2 system, I currently use C97 (gen 1) towers as mains, and the C10 cen which is an awesome centre, matches better with the C95/97 towers as it has the larger 6" drivers and much larger enclosure than the c9 cen, but I think it may have been discontinued?
The Concert series are really great sounding speakers for the money, amazing power handling and clarity for 2ch music also. When my Denon runs Audessey it sets all the Jamos to full range, and running them like that you could seriously go without a sub! I don't of course...lol
Ealan, I love your b-roll; hilarity. Great touch.
Just got these with their sub! Haven’t hooked them up yet but can’t wait!
I have the S803 HCS system. Love it for the price. You cannot mount the atmos modules anywhere EXCEPT on top of the 803 bookshelf speakers or the 807/809 towers. There is not way to put the atmos modules on the 805 towers or to mount them on their own on the wall or ceiling.
Thanks for the information
Hi, I am happy for the realization and the concretization of your project ! I live in France and I'm lucky enough to have access to Jamo products. Currently I have a 9.2.4 system with 4 Jamo ATM 50 Atmos speakers, bought for a more than reasonable price. I used to have a pair of monster speakers, the Jamo S718 with their huge speaker on the side. I now have a pair of French designed floorstanding speakers, the Highland Oran 4305, which are much more musical.
That sounds like an incredible system! 🤘
@ealanosborne the S8 ATM can not be wall mounted, it is only to be placed on the floor standing or monitor speakers. For wall mounting you need to use ATM 50.
Your videos are really well made! Fun to watch. Nice entry level review. I took the big plunge on a set of B&W 700s.
How are they?
@@mandoogamoose I upgraded from the 600 series, that I’ve owned for so many years with countless hours of enjoyment. Always loved how they sound, with a little harshness at times, as my only observation. However, the 700s have blown my wife and I away since I first connected and started playing some music. The level of refinement is a lot better in all 3 ways, with sronger, fuller and faster base, a wide open live like midrange, and sweet super refined highs. The tweeter was immediately evident and as we began listening to more content the differences became known to us. The LCR integration with each other and the way it fills up the front stage while much better projecting the sound towards us, the listeners, was a huge improvement. The towers are a pleasure to listen to music in stereo, mostly disappearing, however the HTM71 was the greatest game changer in movies. Despite my 600 center having the same 6.5” woofers with great speech clarity, the additional 4” midrange in a 3 way configuration provides better separation with a fuller sounding center stage with a much enhanced sound projection. The 700s are quite more expensive but in my opinion you get what you pay for. The improvements in sound quality packaged in such beautiful speakers are a very nice enhancement to our HT/family room.
@@htenthusiast2897 That’s terrific! Whenever the wife is happy we are happy! Sincerely appreciative of your detailed analysis. Thank you kind sir.
@@mandoogamoose let me say she was against and thought would be the same thing, giving several ideas for other things to spend money on. The typical comment: it still works, why buying new speakers?! When even the wife notices the difference then it is significant 😂
I have a pair of Jamo S809s for my record player setup, they are fantastic 👌
How would the s912 subwoofer be with the towers s803 or s809?
Nobody talks about Warfedale either...
Talk about Warfdale Ealan....
I love my DX2 and Diamond 9.1 speakers, great budget option.
@elan Osborne Ive got JAMO S809 towers, sub, and book shelves. Absolutely fantastic! These are used for my theatre with Klipsch Atmos. The kit you highlighted that you can buy with Amazon sound amazing with fantastic bass with out a sub. Great for my family room. GET THEM.
I've seen a lot of reviews saying their studio sub amps go bad really quickly. Also the studio vinyl wrap and grill fabric seem to age and degrade very quickly.
Also, they seem to measure in a V-shape, nothing close to flat nor linear. So I guess that might put some ppl off and keep the cost low.
Huh…thanks for the heads up!
I have the 807s in my theater system as my two fronts but I already had a Klipsch center channel and two 10" Klipsch subs. My surrounds are ceiling mounted Mirage satellites that I already had as well. I used to be in the "the more you spend, the better they are" camp but now just realize that I'm not a discerning audiophile so I can't really tell the difference between my $1000 Martin Logan bookshelfs that I use for listening to records and these $200 towers. I do know what sounds good to me and when the subs are dialed in right, my system sounds great to me. Hoping to add the Atmos speakers for Christmas with a new Atmos amp upgrade as well. Great review.
Thanks for sharing this! 😃🤘
I'm a heathen mixing it up. Used Cambridge Soundworks subwoofer P1005, Polk S35 center, Micca OoO rears, and Jamo s809 tower fronts got at Amazon a year ago. Sounds better than I deserve. Love hearing about others discovering how great Jamo is though. Thanks for posting.
Thanks ealon. I did exactly as you suggested. Spent about 550 for everything inc receiver. BUT NOT including shipping to the Philippines!
Is the S series being phased out or replaced?
Mr. EO!... the home theatre UA-cam King! Who makes funnier home theatre videos than Ealan? No one 🙂 Thanks for the Jamo info EO!
I seriously considered the Jamo S series for my first home theater. Ended up going with Q-Acoustics 3050i pack because I found a crazy good deal with them and a SVS Sb2000 pro and x3700h. But Jamo is a great deal, great bang for buck system.
Yeah, dude! If any deal comes along that you can't pass up, might as well get it! :)
That's a great set up you have there
I have some Jamo speakers and think they're pretty good speakers for the price. I have S807, S803, S801, S81, and S810 sub. So far they're been pretty good. But one thing to note the S805 towers don't support the atmos modules. The S807, S809, and S803 support the upfiring modules. But I really like the Jamo subwoofer its a narrow design which helps with placement in my home theater.
Yeah, it’s interesting how the Atmos speakers only work as upward firing, too. When I made this video, I thought you could mount them if you wanted. Whoops! 😄 Live and learn!
I definitely didn't sleep on Jamo. I remember Andrew Robinson doing a review on the c97 towers. I was shocked when I saw the price on Crutchfield. So I ended up buying them from there. I now have a full 7 channel setup with Jamo concert series speakers to go along with dual RSL speed woofers. Definitely a budget friendly system. But it's more of a high performance budget system. Also the speakers are gorgeous.
Did ya get the c912 sub for $167 tax included it's so well made Jamo is my brand for now. And the 803s had me turning my head to the right to see where that sound came from, I've never experienced that before in my life. So odd. And such a good thing.
Love your content, always to the point, well-reviewed, and easily understandable.
I was able to snag a pair of Jamo S809 as my first towers a little under a year ago. I was using JBL Studio 230's as fronts, paired with a JBL EC25, Bose 302 Series III as rears, and a Klipsch Sub10. Unfortunately after a move, the amp went out and I ended up being able to grab 2 polk hts-10 subs, all powered by a Pioneer Elite lx-101. I moved the JBL's to the back and surprisingly everything blends together very well. Currently looking into getting an amp as well as upgrading my center if you have any bang for my buck recommendations that'd be awesome!
Hmmm…if you’re wanting to upgrade your center, I’d maybe start leaning towards SVS (Prime center), or Aperion Audio (N5C), or maybe even the Klipsch RP line. On Crutchfield right now, the RP-450C is on special purchase price for a ridiculous $399. 🤷♂️

@@ealanosborne Hey there again. Did you ever get a chance to review the Tonewinner AT-300? Heard pretty good things for a dedicated budget processor. I can’t find any comparison to the Denon x4700 but there’s video out there comparing it to Marantz AV7706 and it faired well
@@raymondayala5355 I have not. Although I am in talks with IOTA Audio and their IOTA AVX17, which is right in line with the AT-300. They might be sending me a unit for review hopefully sometime this month! 🤞🤞🤞
Zeos at Z reviews woke me up to Jamo 3 or 4 years ago. He reviewed a pair of Jamo bookshelfs and absolutely loved them. Shocked at the price on Amazon he bought the few remaining pairs to sell to his Patreon subscribers. I missed on the bookshelfs but center channels sometimes are just MTM laying horizontal. So I bought 2 of the C10. I use them as LR standing vertical. They have the look of the C9 but the entire enclosure is curved. The retail on this was $1000 but I bought them at $279 each off Amazon with the intention of flipping them. They're too good to flip. The imaging is amazing.
That’s a great idea! 🤘
One thing on the Atoms speakers they only work on a few of the bookshelf and floorstand Jamo speakers. I do not see any speaker terminals, they get power from there 4 feet that go into the other speaker. On the base speaker is where you connect your speaker wire. They are not universal speakers.
They are good budget speakers, I owned the consert line (bed layer). My problem is that they lose their composure at high levels. What I consider loud to most is unhealthy but you like what you like. At normal level they were great speakers. To me they also look great, way better then Klipsch.
Great video, keep up the great work. Like seeing that someone puts out content the normal person can afford.
Ohhhhhhhh! Good to know about the Atmos speakers! I kept getting comments about that, but no one explained they get their power from the speakers. NOW it make sense. 🤦♂️ Thanks for your insight. 🤘
Would love to see if you can get in a pair of Heco Aurora 700 Towers in for review I hear they are up there with some of the best budget towers in terms of quality and sound
The ATM speakers can't be mounted. They have little prongs that fit into the top of 803 bookshelf or any tower(I think). Also adorama occasionally has bonkers deals got 2x 809 2x 801 and an 81 cen for $359 new.
Or you can get the bundle with the 83 center for 399$. That’s what I bought and can’t believe the quality for the price
Will this jamo bookshelves and center speaker and sub be better than klipsch cínema 600 sound bar? For a large living room?
Most definitely. Soundbars are decent, but having larger speakers in general with a large living room means more air molecules can be pushed towards your listening position, giving you fuller, more natural sound. Although you need to power the speakers with an AV receiver, just FYI.
Yes the receiver that will bump up the price to almost 1k that is really close to the Sonos arc price. Will you still recommend this jamo over the Sonos arc?
What are your thoughts about Jamo C 9 SUR ii?
Came really close to purchasing the Jamo S series on Amazon until I came across a Mono price 5.1.2 setup for $218 out the door. That's satellites, powered sub, and upfiring speakers built in. I've got a small space and these fit well and the sound is pretty darn good compared to the Atmos sound bar they replaced. Just thought you'd like to know. Oh! I enjoy your content.
What receiver do you have? Just curious. I saw that and the 5.1.4 from Monoprice as well, but 9.2 receivers are way more expensive than 7.2
@@JTRumpet491 right now I have a 5.1 setup by pioneer. It's supposed to be Atmos capable but only as a 3.1.2 for height channels. For now, until I can get a more capable receiver it will do. But the speakers sound pretty good, especially considering what they cost and the size of my living room. Andrew was right. The best setup is the one that you like the sound of. For the money, I like this one.
how does someone choose a home AV receiver when the speakers it is connected to may not be the ones that you will be purchasing. Is it just a matter of looking at the features?o
Typically yes. But also, price ranges usually align between both AVRs and speakers. Entry level Jamo speakers in particular will work perfectly with your entry level AVRs that are anywhere from $400 - $1,200, roughly.
i bought Jamo 5.1.2, S807 + S8 atmos + S810 subwoofer + Onkyo TX-SR494 atmos pour 1050€ in France 😁
lol. your intro cracked me up :)
heeheeeeee! :)
I like the Jamo brand
How does the recommended Jamo set compare to the Klipsch 5.1.4 Cinema set from Costco?
Hmmm…I hope to finally get my hands on that Jamo set soon, so hopefully I can get a better sense of that comparison.
And 2023 they are $157. If I didn't already own them I'd buy to resell or give as gifts. Jeez
I may be mistaken but you may want to look at the S8 ATM modules more closely. From my understanding they are only upfiring modules and can only used with the S803, S807 and S809. That may be a drawback for some and a course of frustration if someone took your word for it.
Yes, I have since made a correction in the description of the video explaining that fact. Whoops!
Which Atmos receiver would U recommend for a setup like this?
Check out the latest vid!
ua-cam.com/video/Kaoryfmx-tU/v-deo.html
You should check out Adorama for some screaming deals on Jamo bundles. Got some 809 towers, 803 center and two 801 sides for just over 300. Now just have to wait for a decent receiver to come into stock (Onkyo rz50)
Any recs for a mid level sub?
SVS PB or SB-1000 Pro 🤘
Serious question how/do you get clarity on vocals on the hobbit/lord of the ring series? Does that simply mean I have a terrible center channel?
Haha! Well Ian McKellen annoyingly whispers a lot of his lines throughout LOTR, so there’s not much you can do there when the source material is already so quiet. 😄 But I do find that dialog clarity does get a boost when dealing with external amps with a center channel that is 4 ohm nominal, which draws more power from the amp than an 8 ohm speaker. That and a center channel that’s 3-way and not just 2-way (with a teeeter, mid-bass, and bass woofer). Those factors do help. 👍
Hey bro can you do a review for different acoustic dampening solutions based on cost/return ? I know there’s a thousand of these videos on YT but I trust and enjoy your content.
I hope to do something like that when my new testing room is built. But tests like that also cost money, since it’s tough to actually get acoustic treatment companies to send out product for review, so it’d most likely have to be out of pocket. But one of these days I’ll be in a position to perform these tests without hesitation to waiting fans like yourself! I truly appreciate your kind words about my content. 😁🤘
I just got the white series s 5.0 from Amazon last month for below $150. the same pack is now over $300. I've used them from 2.0 to 5.1 sources, and I love them for the price. However, they are very warm in the voice compared to other speakers, but I like the warmth lol.
If you like the way it sounds, that’s all you need! 😁🎉
Hi Ealan. Like many people, I have a 7.1 system and a number of spare good bookshelf speakers. I understand that I need something like the 3700 or the TX-RZ50 which I will buy. The question is, may I use those spare bookshelfs (x4) mounted below my concrete ceiling? I've heard they need to be somehow special due to some special Atmos circuitry and/or special dispersion characteristics (=angle)? Thank you!!
Eh, not really. Having “Atmos” speakers usually just means they are angled in some way to make it easier to fire audio at your couch if they’re on the ceiling or wall. But you could definitely use bookshelves as height speakers. Many audio enthusiasts say bookshelf speakers would be even better. Just a matter of setting the crossovers to 80Hz - 120 Hz, whatever ends up sounding best in your space. 🤘
Ealan, what's your budget Atmos receiver recommendation? Is it still the Sony STR DN 790?
Yes it is. It’s still usually the cheapest, if you find it on sale. Costco is the only other store that consistently offers great entry level Atmos receivers for around $450-$500 - Denon S760H, Onkyo TX-NR6050, and Yamaha TSR-700, which are all great.
@@ealanosborne Awesome, I just bought the S760H a few days ago. I just wanted to make sure it was one of them that you recommend. Thanks for the reply!
How do they sound? Which models have you heard?
Good review and wisdom. Like you said Klipsch wins either way...
Gorgeous looking units that gets you well on her way right?
Great insight. Thanks for putting this out there. For a guy who talks almost exclusively about home theater and audio, your dialogue reverb hurts ears.
@ $147 on Amazon today, would it make sense to buy 2 sets of these and run them as front and rear 803's, and the 801's as heights in a 5.2.4 with the r12 subs I already bought? And I would have a back up center channel.
I think that would be a great idea! 🤘
@@ealanosborne awesome. I think I will do that. I researched to see if I could run 2 center channels, but the consensus seems to be that it's not a good idea.
@@buguy0 Yeah, the only AVRs that I’m aware of that supports dual center channels (one below, one above TV) are the new AVRs from Sony (AZ5000ES, for example) 🤷♂️
@@ealanosborne yeah those are a little out of budget
Just picked up s809 loudspeakers,83 cen, and s801 surrounds for 400 from Adorama.
Nice grab! 🤘
What receiver do I need to move the whole package?
A 7 channel receiver. Sony STR-SH790, Denon s760h, Yamaha RX-V6A or Onkyo TX-NR5100 are all great.
I have been eyeing up the Jamo S809 5.0 cinema pack on amazon for $697 for a while and then adding a powered sub. Potentially a christmas gift to myself at the end of the year. Now for the big question, do you think the wife will notice if I replace the Klipsch cinema 700 soundbar with this. I don't think she will.
Haha! She won’t notice two big towers at ALL! 🤣
🤣😂🤣😭😀😁
BEST INTRO EVER!!
My suggestion - avoid the S series subwoofers. 8 or 10".
Barely gets to 50hz on the 10".
The C series subs are good, but severely underpowered ( I own the C10 - 50 watts rms - 150 watts peak. )
C12 only 75 watts rms - 200 watts peak - too bad, cause if they had a minimum 200 watts rms, they would be an unbeatable sub $300.00 subwoofer. Magnapan has a great 12" sub that has 200 watts rms for a little over $300.00 - with dual front firing ports and rounded cabinet edges - very nice.
Jamo is a great bargain - no question. Finish has been an issue, but I bought a pair of S801's for $109.00 - a better sounding speaker you can get now on Amazon - Polk TSI 100 / only $99.00 a pair, sound, finish blows Jamo away.
you da best!!
Did you listen the 803s are good for the buck
Wondering if I should bite the bullet for my first HT? Large open living room 14' wide, and 15.5' long, with it open to the right another 19' to the dining room. Front Ceiling is 12'9" tall and slopes down to the viewing area to 10' tall. So, upward-firing Atmos is out of the question, until or unless I mount high on the back wall and in the ceiling and account for the slope.
Thinking then to just start with a good 7.2 base-layer.
AVR: Costco Onkyo TX-NR6050 for $500
Front: 2x Jamo Concert 9 C 95 II $398
Center: Jamo Concert 9 C9 CEN II $179
Surround: Jamo Convert 9 Series C 91 II $199
Sub: 2x Jamo C912 $458
Total: $1734
Good toe in the sand?
Typo in my description: 5.2, not 7.2.
Excellent toe in the sand! A solid 5.2 system with the Onkyo and concert series Jamos is still going to rock your socks off. 🤘
What setting do I pick? Dolby Atmos or Dolby TrueHD?
I have a 7.2.2. Thanks for your time and please release a book! My kid needs another book! You are an author. Please don’t stop
Dolby Atmos is actually metadata that hitches a ride with a Dolby TrueHD signal, so choose Dolby Atmos. 👍
And I’d love to write a new children’s book one of these days! 😁
@@ealanosborne Regarding writing books- You’re good at it. What’s stopping you? I mean that ever so politely sir. Thank you so much for my amazing surroundsound system. You truly are 100% behind it.
@@mandoogamoose I'm always trying to find ways to keep being creative, and writing a children's book was one of those outlets many years ago. Way before I even thought about starting a UA-cam channel about home theater, so time is definitely the main reason I haven't done another. Plus, my first one didn't get any traction whatsoever. Hardly any sales at all to warrant another crack at it. :D But once I'm big enough here on UA-cam where I'm not doing all this by myself, I'll get around to writing another book. But this channel takes up ALL my time at the moment. :) Worth it, though! I enjoy it!
I understand. I feel bad you had to explain that to me. But I appreciate your time. Your channel is terrific. My home theater is terrific! So thanks again brother and I wish you and your family so much happiness.
I completely forgot about Dre. I meant Crutchfield. I used to get their magazine in the mail.
🤣
I just setup the S803 HCS with my new Denon S760H and Elac 1010 sub yesterday. It's pure sex... lol. I'm thinking of getting the Atmos modules in the future.
Update: Switched out the ELAC for a SVS PB1000. Now it's like a threesome 😂
I love Jamo, they have the required WAF that is needed to get a home theater setup through the door and have a pretty good bang for buck IMO.
Currently running C103 as my LR, C93II for surrounds, C9 Cen II, and a S808 soon to be a C912 as I transition from apartment dweller to home owner and actually put effort into my space.

Klipsch absorbed jamo. Doesn't mean the are the same in any way .
I almost bought Jamo speakers until I came across your Costco 5.0.2 video. I would love to see a Jamo vs Klipsch KD Walmart exclusive video. It really does seem like Klipsch is trying to pull a wall over our eyes and have us overpay for Jamo speakers.
Getting the cheapest isn’t always the best are they a good deal yea are they a speaker you’d want to keep as your main speakers forever probably not .. you can easily waste money on home theater best to just save and get what you really want imo
Gotta be kidding right?? Where have you been living?? Lol. Jamo has been talked about by every single UA-camr reviewing speakers for YEARS...
