Do this again, please - with someone filming you so the camera is pulled back - this is an awesome video but much is lost because you are too close to the subject. I still enjoyed though! you are blessed to be able to work with this equipment - i'm envious!
Not me. You have to have grown up around this stuff I suppose to respect it enough to know it won't bother you if you don't bother it, and always grab the insulated handles on knife switches ...
I would suggest you add some wicking cloth in those babbit bearing tops to hold the oil a bit more. Should also be part of the start up procedure to add oil to the bearings. Kind of surprised they haven't replaced those with roller bearings by now.
The first thing to do is always get out the protocol. That way it is done right, and you don't kill yourself. Every facility is different and the more you think you know, the more likely you are to mess something up.
Back in my day we used to do it by touch and see how much tingle we got and if we could still speak or caught on fire ya knew right away they were N’SYNC bawawawa
Why the flywheel? Isn't the grid enough flywheel? When you slip out of sync it pushes you back mightily so what's the point of having a flywheel on the axle?
Small private industrial generator doesn't have enough mass of it's own if the penstock have a momentary interruption in waterflow without tripping out. The flywheel adds momentum to carry it through any transient interruptions.
No one can tell what you're doing or what is happening. You're just staggering around various machinery. I don't know how you expect anyone to know what you're doing, without at least saying something or doing a voiceover.
Interesting topic but horrably filmed. Please make a new film and keep the camera steady and hold still for at least 10 seconds on anything that we can read.

Interesting mix of new and old technology
Makes me anxious seeing you wandering around massive flywheels like that. It'd only take one slip up to be all sorts of messed up.
Don't go into work after a few brewskies?
Thankfully, the people keeping our lights on are braver than you
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
This is interesting, just please work on holding the camera just a little steady. I have motion sickness after watching.
Beautiful old panels. All the exposed conductors make me a bit uncomfortable though.

Very scary! Absolutely no safety precautions being taken here!
No place to play handball, squirt.
That’s the Doctor Frankenstein look
That's why they don't let people like you in there
Because this is a job where common sense is a requirement.
A grown up's job.
Very old machinery and main swithc system Thnks for show
Yep, he is a bit all over the place with that camera

A Voice Over would have been nice

its hard to beleive how small the ac alternator is concidering how 275 kva is being produced
My guy playing Infra in real life
A tripod might have been useful.
So…the thing that first gets the turbine moving is you hopping up on the flywheel like it’s The Price Is Right?

Is this generator plant in bracebridge?

I assume that's a brake. He has turned a yellow wheel releasing this machine to go.
Evens out the 'flow' from the turbine, should air or debris appear in the penstock water flow ...

What is the purpose of the small dynamo that is driven via belts?
I think thats the exciter generator
Generators of this size needs a magnetic field to operate, The exciter generator powers that field.
Nice video thanks a bunch
Unruhige Kamera,sonst sehr gut 😊

老式發電機。
I give up watching, Im going out back to puke. Too much movement for mine eyes only.
Video serves NO purpose.
Horroroso video.

Diese verwackelten Bilder hätte man am besten gleich gelöscht anstatt sie hier hochzuladen
6 minutes wasted!
were you doing coke?
