this may be the greatest guitar live performance i've ever seen, from clapton to malmsteen, from van halen to becker, from vai to loomis and everything in between... i always wonder why timmons isnt in a top ten rating of the best of all time, his groove, his phrasing and his compositions are absolutely outstanding even among the greatest, i always thought he deserved a place in their hall of fame :/
M47riX1 It's because Andy don't care about being famous. This guy is so humble... I'm not saying that Vai, Satriani or Van Halen are cocky but they are more "Showmans" than him. Andy is just straight forward, he come on stage and play with his soul, this is just what i want from a musician. Andy is an awesome person, i had the chance to see him live in France in March and that was intense ! My all time favourite guitarist, with Guthrie Govan.
M47riX1 Well, there's Zappa's Black Napkins on Baby Snakes (Halloween Palladium), and Hendrix at Woodstock - but this deserves to be in their company. This is a masterpiece.
MartinBergnerGuitar in a dvd of his, he added a security cam kind of recording, from the studio they were recording this, so he says it was kind of late and it was missing the lead guitar track so he just wanted to jam along the backing track just to sense what they were going to do the next day. So they just plugged a zoom fx processor, the guitar, and he played along, just making one brief pause to correct a mistake... that recording came out so well that it stayed the same for the final mix, so yeah, this piece is 100 improvised... this guy is from another planet, and this night was on fire, I suggest you look up the full concert and jam along paul Gilbert and steve vai, I know it's not about winning but he wipes the floor with them that night.
Huh? Dude it's really really really good but have you never seen Steve vai tender surrender, Paul gilbert live, the Satch, like that is just not accurate lol. It's so damned good though. Like, I want it in my brain all the time...just like I want for the love of God in my head all the time

Ugh I love those. There are a couple places on the neck where you can get that effect via catching harmonics on the string above the one you're bending. Pulling it off consistently live takes sharp technique and it's one of the many things that sets Andy apart from other "shredders".
Andy is one of the most underrated guitar players in the world. He has such a great tone and control, and his vibratos and bends...simply wonderful. Malmsteen fans should listen this guy one more time, he is for me musicaly one of the more gifted guitarist on earth.

You are quite correct. The Milan, Italy version is my nominee for second place :) Not better, but different. Then again, really astonishingly he always plays it differently, always, and never suffers for the changes. F'in genius.
Pedro Pazmiño I've witnessed him doing this live 3 times, the 2nd time he completely blew us away and the entire venue was silent and filled with the emotion on display here :) But don't forget Simon Philips here! Great interpretation by him as well!
As you play this, Frank and Jimi are bowing in awe to this in heaven. This is complete and utter perfection. His emotion on the stage is totally genuine. And why not. He completely knows and feels what he has here. Utter perfection.

I know this comment is 10 years old but i love seeing someone show respect for Andy's bandmates. There are a lot of different ones over the years but Andy clearly knows how to pick them. Out of all players at Andy's level such as Steve Vai and Joe Satriani etc, I like Andy Timmons the best, his sound is more relatable to me, it's straight forward and has like a 90's urban sound, if that makes sense.
+mronemanband1 How so? Cause Vai play a billion notes in a sec? Both are great but I think Andy's Melodies are better. Opinions are ok right? Theres so much more to the guitar than shredding (for example) David Gilmore, technically as good as Steve Vai, NO, but his melodies are way past Vai. This guy plays so tight and plays with much feeling. It is not about how fast or notes per measure. He plays with style and in a class above. He has mastered the guitar. Sweet music. It strikes the soul.
AT is the best player of his generation. Criminally overlooked. Why? Not sure. Without name dropping, a better player than others who are much more commercially successful. My guess is that you are listening to a purist. Uncompromising brilliance, taste and a sense of melody. A players player.
Very true.. once you start crying listening to this you just cant stop crying...every note of the song is so passionate.. dis song just tears you apart.
He is top 10, top 5, I'd say 1 really. Morse is good, Greg Howe, Guthrie Govan, I love them all, but gun to my head asking me who the best of them all is - Andy Timmons. The culmination of skill, melody and passion has no match.

that first note at 0:40 it's enough to know that he's a guitar god :D
Yeah
True
so subtle and elegant
got to jam with timmons a while back and he was such a top notch guy. had front row seats to see him after in a crowed room after to. was a great memory :)
Every single note was played with fool emotion and the right curve and dynamic, outstanding performance
Doctor : You only have 5 minutes left to live
Me : Could I please add another 2 mins and 17 seconds so I can die happy :)
All jokes aside, I am blessed to be a part of the small community that knows of this man’s existence. The rest of the world is truly missing out on the gift this legend has to offer🙏
Cudne !!! Przepiękne !!! Genialne !!!
Speechless
Used to watch this boy play in Denton, Texas circa 1988 or so. Good to see him still doing his thing all these years later.
This guy plays so tight and plays with much feeling. It is not about how fast or notes per measure. He plays with style and in a class above. He has mastered the guitar.
Sweet music. It strikes the soul.
im crying, thx andy, you know how to do it. MASTERPIECE!
2023, still listening ❤️☝️
Words can't describe
2021 and its never getting old...
AT is the best player of his generation. Criminally overlooked. Why? Not sure. Without name dropping, a better player than others who are much more commercially successful. My guess is that you are listening to a purist. Uncompromising brilliance, taste and a sense of melody. A players player.
God damn it Andy stop making me cry!
Very true.. once you start crying listening to this you just cant stop crying...every note of the song is so passionate.. dis song just tears you apart.
Excelente performance!
I just keep coming back for more, just blows me away
He is top 10, top 5, I'd say 1 really. Morse is good, Greg Howe, Guthrie Govan, I love them all, but gun to my head asking me who the best of them all is - Andy Timmons. The culmination of skill, melody and passion has no match.
He's as real as they get....true feeling here ppl
Lindo isso! A junção perfeita de feeling e técnicas bem legais!
