Epica's sound has definitely changed over the years, especially the last 3 albums which are my favorites, I can honestly say all 8 of Epica's albums have been consistently great
Epica's carreer is an example of what 'consistency' do despite critics. In this what I called 'one-take' pre-recorded performace; you're enjoying over 12 years of experience using the same concept. Their discographiy is kinda great, especially 1st album (Consign to Oblivion) and 2nd album (Phantom Agony) and then the 'storm' started because Simone had some health issues (performance was bananas) and also started to get lot's of criticism just for being a 'lady' in the Metal Scene (lead vocalist is very inclined to cooking, beauty & fashion and she never hide it at all, which in my opinion, it's the coolest thing ever), hence 'Storm the Sorrow' track. Having that 'publicity' in their shoulders, also of how expensive these types of production might be, their next albums after the first 2, came up pretty well considering the facts. After 'Retrospect' concert, which it was a celebration of their 10th Aniversary, Epica is getting better and better each year especially live. As you can see, all musicians overall', are music theory based; with 'that knowledge' they managed to give an 'underground' twist, paying attention to the riffs. ...and to confirm, yes, Epica is very 'dark', on purpose. Omega Alive DVD is available for pre-order and it will be launched on 12/8/21. I don't mind the free promo. I highly recommend DVD 'We Will Take You With Us' to get an insight of what's Epica 'means' studio wise.
It's not symphonic it's truly operatic! If Wagner were making music today I believe he'd be doing this. The contrast between Mark and Simone is more distinct than ever. Even though there's less of a classical background, the band sounds like an orchestra. Yeah I like it a lot, and your reaction too! (Even though they're kids the choir sounds metal, and that's really cool)
@@BaldHeadedMETAL You might want to do their other stuff while waiting :) I still think their magnum opus is the 2009 album "Design Your Universe". Gold Edition includes acoustic versions of some songs. There's no one single song on that album which I would call "weak". Amazing. Btw, if you'd like to see what Simone calls her dirtiest filming, you should check "Storm the Sorrow (Official video)". It's one of more radio-friendly catchy songs and the video is really cool. It's from 2012 (album Requiem for the Indifferent).
@@BaldHeadedMETAL Omega Alive is not just the Omega album. The setlist of the stream contains 15 songs, 7 of them( including the intro) are taken from the Omega album.
@@BaldHeadedMETAL I can see why! The setlist is great with songs from most of their albums, and their new sounds only adds to their older songs quality. Plus the production is outstanding all the way through
The whole stream consert will soon be out on DVD, maby UA-cam later I hope. So might want to wait with the omega review if you want to experience the whole alive consert first time. All songs there would be a greate first time. Especially Kingdom of heaven prt1 in my opinion.
Please, wait for the release of the Blue ray to react to Kingdom of Heaven part I from the same Omega Alive concert, it's amazing, you won't regret it! Cheers from Brazil!
Yeah this band incredible consistant in their output. Even the bonustracks are of an incredible high level. The main reason that bonustracks are not on the main album is that Epica doesn't want to release a double album. Altough the band has become heavier and their albums still have a typical 'epica sound', they still find ways to add new things..Omega is the first album where they used the voices of children. An album reaction (Omega) would be great!
nice reaction! really a great album omega saw this show live when it came out, which is also a nice song and not many reactors do is EPICA Introspect Monopoly On Truth Retrospect 10th Anniversary this is the start of a 3 hour concert with orchestra and choir very impressive! it lasts 12 minutes but is well worth it! see if you wanne do it
Epica is one of the Symphonic metal bands that I really enjoy. Nightwish is other. Epica is really good mix of heaviness and operatic grandeur. It is on my list to listen this new album definitely. If you liked this guitar tone you would love their previous album too "The Holographic Principle"
Epica put really high bar in their 1st album back in 2003. Since then they consistently evolved and became greater, more complex and more epic. Never saw such a consistency in any other band.
They actually use adult choirs as well in the song, in addition to the kids that appear in the background. And one of the kids is the keyboardist's daughter.
Def an album reaction would be greattt! ...and honestly, Epica definitely continues to outdo themselves with each album. Just picture this, you reacted to consign to oblivion, the longest and closing track of their 2nd album back in 2005... now fast forward to kingdom of heaven pt3 which you just reacted to. When you compare both tracks you can definitely notice the progression, and even so, back in 2005, a song like CTO was so fantastic to hear. KOH pt3 just happens to blow it out of the water lol .... also, they did take a bit of a shift in one of their albums (Requiem for the Indifferent) which I think overall it's the fan base's least favorite album... but there are many great tracks for me in that album... and by all means it wasn't a lesser album, it just happened to have a diff feel to it, but the progress and quality was still there. In fact brooo please react to the opening live performance of one of those song, its one of my fave. Look up EPICA introspect Monopoly on Truth (retrospect 10th anniversary). They played with an entire orchestra and choir! It was like a 3hr show, she was prego, and even floor jansen makes an appearance! Great show!
A reaction to the whole album would be amazing, you'd get to listen to Code of Life, which is imo the most amazing song on the album (and Simone's personal favorite to sing, apparently!)
A note on the choir: In this song and some other songs of the Omega album, they use 2 choirs: an adult and a children choir. One of the girls on stage is actually the daughter of the Coen, the keyboard player.
Epica make me proud to be Dutch!!! 🇳🇱🤘🏻

So good! I would love a full reaction to Omega!
Noted!
And at least 3 songs from "We Will Take You With Us" 2004 live TV session! There are now HD and even 4K videos of it!
You know the band is going to be good when the drummer has a Bachelors degree in music :)
I really love the production of this concert and the dorection of the music is both kingdom of heaven 3 and skeleton key both from the new album?
@@BaldHeadedMETAL Yes, they're both from their new album Omega
Abyss of Time another great song from Omega, first single, not available in the livestream previews but there's the official music video
I can not wait to get my hands on EPICA's upcoming Live release "Ωmega Alive' which will be released on December 3rd 🤘🤩🤘🔥🔥🔥.

i have seen the live stream omega alive more than once, every song is amazing
