Why I've never heard about this film before. It was amazing! Totally underrated. I would like to know about the history of hoodoo couple, the blind woman and how they sacrifice the lawyer. Arghhh can't believe this film was in 2005!
You have to think historically. These servants were probably part of the Jim Crow laws, meaning they might have been “free”, but they had no money or land after being free, so many stayed with their ex owners, worked for them in exchange for living arrangements aka new aged slavery or “crop sharers”. So, mama and papa had probably been in this family for their while lives, being passed down from their mothers as black children were whatever their mother was, so a freeman and woman slave could have children, but the children would be slaves owned by her owner…. So those children might be innocent now, but will more than likely grow up to be those “white supremacists” as we call them, but that was your average white person back then. See how they were drinking and partying as the bodies burned. This happened with every lynching. A man wrote it, saying how people in the front would take pieces of the body like teeth and hair as memorabilia. These were just average people going to these public lynchings. It would be a party. Trains would have reduced prices to go see a lynching live……. Children would go. So, mama and papa probably saw this racism behavior being passed down through the generations.

@@lavishmisfittink3214 so the lawyer was trapped in the old husband's body? And papa justify transferred from the old man to the young lawyer?
Nobody has mentioned that Mama Cecile is telling this story due to Mama Cecile's soul is already in the old White woman vessel....
Yeah I was wondering the same thing. That cigarette is a dead giveaway. This is where she was starting to sew the seed into Caroline's head as the Gateway into her believing.
Just thinking about when Daddy shot himself later after shooting mama. I wonder if the "kids" had anything to do with that?
My favorite horror movie..I chuckle every time 😂😂. Girl always getting into stuff.
Why I've never heard about this film before. It was amazing! Totally underrated. I would like to know about the history of hoodoo couple, the blind woman and how they sacrifice the lawyer. Arghhh can't believe this film was in 2005!
"He made
His fortune"
"Cheating
The Poor"
"He was
A Mean Man"
"He was
Cruel Man.."
I love this story. Love the movie. One of my favorites
loved this movie as a kid and still love it now.. so bittersweet
Love this movie. One of my top 10 favorites. My roots ⚜️
Skeleton Key uses hoodoo
Get Out uses “science”
Hoodoo better and more powerful
We need a Prequel series or Movie. Thank You
Now I see where Jodan Peele got the concept for Get Out imo.
That escalated quickly! I mean that really got out of hand fast!
I think Get Out movie is inspired by this movie.
me too
I think the
Beginning of Xmen Apocalypse is inspired by this
I don't like "get out"very much.It was more a black comedy than a horrormovie. The skeleton key is so much better and I love the creepy ending.
More like ripped off and sold as "original"
Stop it
This is the first movie that really scared me especially having a grandparents that told me about hoodoo.
Do u believe?
this movie is so underrated
And to think the parents did that to their own children without even knowing it.
best film i've saw in a long time!, Felt thinner when i woke up due to intense movie sweatin!! ha totally worth it!
Papa Justify is a two-headed doctor
"all that POWER, RAGE, INSANITY"
My only issue with Mama Cecilia & Papa Justify is that they're targeting innocent people to swap bodies with....
That's how I feel about mass shooters. Like, what a waste of crazy.
So, mama and papa probably saw this racism behavior being passed down through the generations.
it's a freaking horror movie, you clown.. of course they'll target innocent or just people they want to torment.
Dude if you had magic and live forever wouldn't you?
I don’t understand why this movie wasn’t more of a hit, it’s so tense and creepy
Their soul is not getting old
This is to horror movies what Dark City is to sci-fi movies. Super undervalued.
I absolutely love this movie. Especially the end.❤
Love this flic , I think this would have done well as a prequel then a sequel after the skeleton key. There’s lots to have made two more movies , before and after. Understated movie . Kate was awesome as well as Mrs Rowland’s , I just love her ability to act. She’s an icon I think .
1:30 Jay Z & Beyonce???
Well the lesson here...curiosity kills
RIP, they killed innocent children
Shouldn't have been racist. How many innocent Black kids were killed during those times?
@Ill lLlLl I obviously, wasn't referring to the kids you fucking moron who needs to be spoon fed everything. Calm down, it's just a movie loser, get a real friend. LMFAO!
Brilliant film.
Little did they know, they already transferred their souls into the children's bodies. They literally hung and burned their own children alive. Wild 🕯️
This was the last movie I watched with my mom. I love it but it’s so bittersweet.
WONDERFUL FILM! It’s very like The Others (2001) I mean story wise. Very surprising end.
That's so creepy, a great horror movie!
I return here once annually
watching this again in 2024 makes you appreciate the actress who played Violet. Sorry that i can't remember her name, but everyone knows her as the old lady from the Notebook, but I always remember her from this movie.
Good spooky movie. Reminds me of getting my fortune told in Hernando Mississippi circa 1973. Drove down from Memphis to see the conjure woman. If anyone needs it there is an online shop which sells red brick dust. Be careful, y'all.
Oh shit…….I literally had to read the comments to truly understand the children Part !!! 😮😮😮😮
Same it's been years I just watched the movie again earlier I was left with so many questions
So this is where Behind her Eyes got the story from.
true
Yup. As soon as I saw it, I thought Skeleton Key. One of my favorites.
Thumbs 👍, movie has a very high meaning
Sad that so many actually died like this while people sat there and drank laughed and pointed and took pictures pure evil
A personal Favorite-
Absolutely love this movie
To those of you who don't believe that there is such a thing as "Hoodoo and Voodoo as well as conjuring spirits and working ill will by inviting the spirit energy of those with certain deepseated power some might call "a gift" I for one can't help but realize the truth that it does exhist.. but I am careful because you can never take it back what has been done..and two wrongs can never make a thing right.
Very good movie, watched it bout a dozen times❤
Saw in theather years ago. Really good.
I Love this movie, It is very Haunting.. I Would LOVE To see a part 2 to this... Somehow It's discovered all that is going on and.........
