Story 1 - guy should have his blue belt revoked. The higher belts are supposed to know EVEN MORE SO how to not injure a newbie. That’s why they pair white belts with higher belts - to AVOID injuries.

Exactly!!! I did martial arts as a really little kid, and I was always even smaller for my age. I would always get paired to spar with someone older and more experienced bc they know how to be careful rather than someone bigger than me in my age group and level who didn’t have that control.

Exactly! Where I went the higher belts only let themselves go all out against eachother, like they've broken each other's ribs all in good fun according to themselves but with the students they tap to show strikes. When they were showing me how to spar I kept getting tapped gently while they kept insisting "You have to learn how to punch so hit me, you won't hurt me."
I never managed to hurt one of them (slippery suckers dodge EVERYTHING) but when I finally landed a punch that left a bruise on the black belt he was so proud we had to take a picture to commemorate the occasion lol

I have judo as my P.E. course in University, which obviously isn't the same but still a little similar and the first thing our teacher told us is if you are a person with experience in judo or similar sports than practicing with sb equal to you or take it easy on them, because lessons are to learn not recklessly injure sb and honestly it seemed like a no brainer to me, so I imagine a blue belt would be aware of that.

I feel like story’s like this is part of why America ( where I’m from and I assume is where these people are from.) needs to do better when it comes to paid leave for family’s. We need better paid maternity leave at most businesses and paid time off for the Dad too. I took about 6 months off work after having our baby. My work helped me save up my PTO and o was part of a paid leave pool. I work for a nonprofit and if your part of the paid leave pool people who have a lot of PTO that they don’t use can donate their PTO for you. I am blessed to work for a tremendous company with amazing staff some of which didn’t even know me.
My husband works for target distribution center and though the pay is pretty good I think they could treat their employees a lot better. If the nonprofit I work for can give everyone a gift card for Christmas and other bonuses than certainly a rich ass company like target could do better however the thing they did that I most definitely loved was give my husband a month of paternity leave. They obviously give the women having the baby more time off but generally they give the Dad atleast a month. If they have enough PTO saved up they can take more time but unfortunately my husband was only able to take off an extra week after the month was over. I’m so grateful that he got to be there for that month it was magical. Unfortunately when he went back to work he had to work overtime due to the season so he was working three 12 hour shifts and two 10 hours shifts not including drive time. He still helped whenever he could but we definitely missed him because we went from seeing him everyday to barely at all. I hope my long ramblings make sense.

That means air is getting in and out of your lungs. Suffocating or choking is when 0 air is able to get in and it happens FAST. Especially with a smaller animal or child. There has to be many other things than going to a buddy at work like "Hey there neighbor, your wife also just had a baby. Can she come over and do double duty and be responsible for 4 kids including 2 barely just newborns and clean our house and take care of my wife while she is in recovery, all while she is also in recovery?" When you are put in that situation, you find a way to make it work, not make someone else make it work for you. And he's not even asking her himself he's trying to get her husband to do it since he can't seem to say no to him.

Story 3 - I’m by no means a professional but as far as I’m aware, people can suffocate silently. One thing I always hear about babies and children and when people choking is that if they’re silent, there could be or is an issue. And if something that weighs about your entire body weight is spread across your entire body (and possibly doubled since the blanket was folded on top of the dog too), what could it do to avoid being suffocated? The dog’s diaphragm probably couldn’t expand so it’s not out of the realm of possibility that couldn’t make any noises and it already probably couldn’t move, so it would lie there until brain death settled in.

    • @that.ll_do_pig
      @that.ll_do_pig 5 місяців тому +17

Not only that but with that dose of gabapentin, the dog would not have been able to physically get itself up even without the blanket. As an rvt, that's a _very_ significant dose for that size dog.

A mom of 2 here and choking is definitely silent it's when they are coughing able to make noise it means they're still getting some air. After having my first baby 11 years ago he was in his bassinet and my mom walked over to check him and he had spit up and was choking thank God she seen him at that perfect time and picked him up! My 3 year old has had a few scary choking incidents as well even with making sure everything is cut up for her. That poor dog couldn't breathe with all that weight on it and it not even being able to get the blanket off and being still under it shows it was way to heavy for it to kick it off or anything. It's crazy that lady shows no remorse even if it was a carless accident. Last year I was leaving and my sil lives across the street and her old mastiff was in her yard and my little one and I said "hi June" then we got in the truck I strapped my girl into her seat got in and started the truck and when I went to pull out I hit something and stopped! I had no clue the dog watched us get in the truck then decided to walk over and lay down in front of the truck tire😭 I felt fucking Awful when it was definitely an accident that dog has never just ran in front of vehicles and she watched us get into it plus was over in her yard when we were getting to the truck. Thankfully she made a full recovery but I still feel bad every time I think of it. So this lady not feeling an ounce of remorse is scary and that dude should definitely run!

That’s why baby blankets are so thin and small and you swaddle them, and if you don’t swaddle then they shouldn’t have them at all. Plus the painkillers slowed the dogs breathing and rate and he probably couldn’t get up. It’s also possible he went in his sleep peacefully which I like to imagine happened

Folding a 25lb weighted blanket doesn’t make it 50lbs. No matter how you fold it the entire blanket itself only weight 25lbs (not 25lbs per each fold or per square foot, etc.). But folding it will make it feel like a bit more weight on the dog depending on how she placed it. For example, instead of only feeling 10lbs of the blanket, the dog could feel 20lbs since more of the blanket is then covering the dog. It’s hard to tell what really caused the dogs death though because applying weight to the diaphragm could make it harder to breath but that dosage of gabapentin does sound high, especially given every 2 hours… it’s usually given every 8-12 hours for dogs. I worked as a vet tech for a while and the vets never prescribed that much gaba to a dog of that size and at that frequency… I almost wonder if OP misunderstood the vets instructions.
Also, side note. When people get their pets cremated or even choose not to pick up the body, either way the pets have to go into a freezer for at least a week before cremation or disposal (hate that word, but that’s what happens if the owner doesn’t want the body back).

Thank you; as a pharmacy tech (currently at a compounding pharmacy that fills a lot of animal scripts but I’ve worked retail before too) I thought 200MG then another 200mg TWO hours later sounded insane even for a person. Gabapentin isn’t usually prescribed to take that close together; maybe twice daily, 3 times daily, four times daily in low doses for humans for seizures but I’ve never heard of “in 2 hours” spent for neuropathy. I almost think she never put a weighted blanket on the dog and either he misread the directions or whoever filled/wrote the script misread/miswrote the script as “q2h” instead of “q12h”. A weighted blanket sounds like an easy way to blame the girlfriend instead of veterinary malpractice…

Weight classes were enforced so we wouldn't be in this big of a strength difference. However, we'd never do this to someone who was less skilled. The more skilled wrestlers would teach younger while knowing to back off on the force of their moves. I knew how to break people's bones they taught us what moves would do that so we knew how to not do it. Knowing enough about contact sports and arm bars this guy might not have intended to break her arm but he intended to "hurt" her. He was proving some sick point.

Story 3- I’m a vet tech and while dogs can overdose on gabapentin depending on the situation the dose will be higher than your typical dose. Considering the circumstances this dosage seems reasonable. When it comes to the cremation if her name is on the account at the vets office she most definitely can do that. It is common for people to freeze their animals until they can get them to the crematorium/vets office (if the death happens on a weekend for example). I don’t think she purposely killed the dog but she needs to man up and accept the fact it was her negligence that killed the dog.

Women only classes are there for a reason! It's a huge red flag to me when a gym doesn't have a lot of women training or they leave. The guy who broke the gf's arm knew exactly what he was doing. No one ever rolls that hard in class, or even in competition. I don't want to get hurt or hurt others, so when you get to that point, you put a submission on slowly, so they can tap. The fact that this happened in class is really bad, especially BREAKING her arm. Also, the fact that this guy is talking about the lineage so much makes me think something about it is fake or its just full of dbags.

This girl needs to run from this man! How did this guy not see women repeatedly leaving this gym and immediately think it was a red flag? How is he not furious at the instructor when they are supposed to supervise things? How is he not furious at the person who did this, even if it was an accident? The natural reaction of a loving partner, even in the event of an accident, would be shock, worry, anger.

Omg something I’m knowledgeable on!! It’s specified as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is because there’s also JJ - Jujutsu, which is Japanese. There are a few families that are prominent in BJJ, so maybe that’s what he means? That’s the ONLY thing I will defend op on though.
I took BJJ for a few years, also got to blue belt. I was 15-17, 115 pounds soaking wet and the only girl there was everyone had at LEAST 50 pounds on me. I never had an injury, because no one wanted to hurt me. They never took it easy on me, mind, but they were throwing me around like a rag doll. That’s the only way to learn!
BJJ may be a contact sport, but it’s not a raw strength sport. It’s about being dexterous, using good grips on your opponent, being quick, and most importantly being *smart*. Fuck those guys, honestly. My instructor would have thrown that blue belt out immediately if he broke anyone’s arm, much less a white belt!

My brother in law commutes almost an hour one way for work, stays 8-10 hours while learning to essentially take over the company one day, and even though he's tired when he gets home he goes right into caring for the baby because he understands that he helped make that baby, so he needs to help out with her. He also doesn't want to have no bond with his child. People do not seem to consider the fact that if you just ignore a baby because you're too tired to deal with it you will not be a parent to that child. You're just some dude who cohabitates with their mom.

For story one, I have taken multiple jujitsu classes with friends, in friends homes, and at gyms. I myself have rolled around on the mat with people who are black belts, blue belts, and brown belts… breaking someone’s arm is so beyond reckless and careless that it should’ve never even happened. That is a very serious injury, and the higher belts are supposed to be more knowledgeable about how to avoid injuries. When I have sparred with someone who is a higher belt, like a blue or a black belt, they go very very slow, we do the same move multiple times over and over so I can get the feel, and I know how to defend myself and how to push myself out of the space where I can get injured. And then even when we do it fast, it’s after I feel confident with the move, and after I have shown that I know what I’m doing to defend myself. But the higher belts are still always careful to never go full force and to never be overly zealous with the lower belts. This should not have happened, and their gym needs some serious evaluations. The girlfriend should sue honestly because that injury DEFINITELY could have been avoided. What a poor example of sportsmanship and integrity.

OP has to realize that she is the greatest symbol of her mother and father’s love and that her mother is always with her.

I didn’t find out until almost six months after we had broken up, from one of the people who was also no longer in the “friend group”, that each month was worth a certain amount of $$ and then if the guy & I made it to a year or more the pot would be worth a whole lot more. not even to mention that if he ended up taking my virginity (which he didn’t)t hat he would also get a lot of money. the bet was put in place by the guys in the group but the girls went along with it. needless to say I was messed up for a while after that. so I hope story 5 OP left both of them behind

I was honestly kind of shocked by this episode. Usually, Morgan is very egalitarian in her thinking and can admit that people of any gender can do wrong. However, this episode was covered in sexism skewed in favor of women, largely pushed by Michaela. I really struggled with this episode. I do recognize that this is not Morgan’s fault, since she wanted to have a fun time with the guests, so some chameleon behavior is normal. But it especially came through with the “it’s hard to admit women are wrong” comment from Michaela and her handling of the entire dog story. The start of their thoughts were fine and reasonable, but as soon as she heard that the girlfriend had the dog cremated, she discounted everything she said prior simply because she couldn’t fathom that anyone can take a dead animal to get cremated. Ignorance is okay and easily remedied, but falling back on her own admitted sexism is mildly upsetting. Morgan and Ellie tried to throw her lifelines with the fact that the folded weighted blanket that is nearly the same weight as the dog it was placed on might crush it, or given the fact that it could be “a slope of bad things happening”, she found it “hard to admit” it might be the girlfriend’s fault. This is the most obvious example, but it’s spread all throughout this episode. If these stories were presented without genders, I have a hard time believing it would have happened the same way.
