I just got my GPD Win4 yesterday and they provide an extra thin front bezel in case you break that one trying to take it off, that is very nice to see. And so far I just love it , it's my favorite portable I have ever had!
I think it’s fucking ridiculous they designed it that way. I’ve had every gpd win and having a piece that needs to be glued is Crazy hours have been designed as part of a shell that snaps together
Sadly, after applying the thermal paste, placing the heatsink back, then lifting it again to add missed motherboard screws, there is a good chance you introduced air pockets between the IHS and heatsink. For such a powerful 8 core CPU that has a base clock of 2.7Ghz, and an integrated GPU you absolutely should have cleaned up the thermal paste and added again.
The person responsible has been made to pay for all the drinks this Friday :) But yes, the paste should have been re-applied. This video was more of a test as we haven't opened one before. We thought to try recording it for a video and see if there is a good response. Thanks.
If I had the money, I would've DEFINITELY chosen to buy the GPD Win 4 over the Steam Deck, but I do love my Steam Deck regardless. (I just bought me a 1TB micro SD so I can run Windows off of it and have plenty of space for downloading PC Game Pass games) One thing the Deck does have on the Win 4, however, is that replacing the Deck's sticks with the Gulikit hall effect sticks is a MUCH simpler task than it seems to be to do the same with the Win 4. Very cool device though, I might one day sell the Steam Deck I have and put money with it to buy one of these once they're available for retail.
Thanks! Just changed my thermal pasted out for XMT70 Corsair and maaaaaaan what a difference. Also my fan was a bit clogged from deployment. Highly suggest changing the paste so this thing doesn't sound like a jet engine

Same here. If I can't get to them without needing to also buy thermal paste then I will just use the stock ones until they break and then replace with hall ones.
If you purchased it from us at DroiX we may be able to repair it but as it is damaged by yourself rather than warranty we would charge for this. @@LiveAtHigh We agree and we hear often from people buying from China with similar issues. Try getting in contact with GPD and they can sell you the replacement parts to install yourself. There are a few tricks to remove stripped screws. Try a rubber band first as that usually works when I have had this in the past.
