I was really excited to get my hands on this thing. Unfortunately, I was one of the 150+ backers who received a unit with the wrong parts installed. GPD refuses to fix the problem, and offered only $30 as compensation. Be aware, if you get a faulty device from GPD, you are stuck with it. They do not honor their warranty.
That really sucks, that's why i chose the Steam deck, Valve would gain a really bad rep if someting like that happened

@@PTNLemay 720p is a bit easier on the GPU and should still look fine on this screensize though, so I'd assume it should be fine for most people

A grip accessory, like Satisfye's Nintendo Switch grip, to improve the ergonomics would make this form factor basically perfect.
You can't make a "console" like this without removable controllers. Guys that have been in the game for years and years constantly have issues with analog sticks and buttons. Without having a good way to get in here and fix them they're going to have major issues.

Dells Alienware "Concept UFO" was just that a concept model for gauging interest, they even kept most of the specs secret on what they put into those demo units.
That was last year, January 2020, fair to say its a rough year to be building anything new. But since we haven't seen it return this year is probably not a good sign.

Sounds like a good device for my field. I'm an IT technician at a university who's constantly schlepping around the (rather large) campus, and a device like this running Windows would be a great help. What would really put it over the edge is if they went full Switch and made it dockable. Being able to do work in the office on a trio of 4k displays and then just take it out of the dock to go on a ticket would be awesome.

The keyboard from the reviews I've watched seems to be the most polarizing feature on this device. Personally, I like a good touch keyboard if done well, however I can understand the want for a keyboard with actual pressable keys.

GPD make amazing products for youtubers to make videos about. I am aware that it's very much the nature of the beast, and that there is little GPD can do about it , but it's such a shame that these kinds of devices are so prehibitively expensive because, especially considering the included Thunderbolt this a super like, future of gaming, feeling product to me.

A dell or HP thunderbolt dock can quickly cost 200-300$ if you think of it like a docking station, it's actually quite good
@Lassi Kinnunen 81 oh yeah, it's not something you do to save money. Its something you do if you value the convinience of a nintendo switch, but want a full gaming machine when you dock at home. Ofc it's more expensive. But for some, that expense is worth the value it brings.
