Not Chizi tip toeing around the fact that some of these folks don’t have 4C 😭😭😭😭😭
Say it loud and clear Sis!
He had her SHOOK
yes cause we could see it clear as day😭
You’re right
He has 4c though
@@queenblackdiva not referring to him specifically
My 4c don’t look like the first guy 4c but either way it’s beautiful
Most of our 4c don't look like his. His is a rare one.
He is boo, he just doesnt use a comb to detangle
I think his is the defined type, but his is just naturally defined🤔
@@mponenglehema6155 I have not used a comb in years and my 4c hair does not look like that either...
Girl same I have 4c hair and my hair is not even able to do what he does
Shrinkage is so freaking disrespectful 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭, like put some respect on my name
Right! That 75% shrinkage have me messed up sometimes. 😂😢
Is that you in the second vid?
@@finacooper9058 Nope. I'll make it there someday
I appreciate that shrinkage helps me see the health of my hair. Because some parts of my hair doesn’t shrink anymore because a professional beautician fried it 😭
I love my shrinkage at times but I gotta keep my hair stretched or I will reap the bastardized knots of dread
Loved the commentary around the first guy. You’re amazing Chizi
Correct
that boy is misguided
Umm she’s not a professional hairstylist or expert on hair..it’s just her OPINION! Take it with a grain of salt not to heart! ❤️❤️chizi!
Completely agree, in my opinion the hair typing system is just a bunch of baloney anyway. Although, it can help with styling but most of the time I just see people arguing over it.
No kidding, however she is an influencer and she welcomed convos in the comments. So that’s what we doing.
its her opinion just let her say what she wants and you can say what you want (no hate just my opinion)
@@Bonbongoget-em opinion isn't fact. You can't just tell someone what their hair is
Think the confusion is the curl pattern. Most 4c people we see, have a tight wave pattern. The hair doesn’t really Form a coil just in some parts. That guy has no wave pattern, rather a tight coil.
I think both is 4c but in all honesty the hair typing system ist trash. Our hair is soooo much mir diverse.
*the question we need to ask ourselves is:
1. Is 4c measured by the level of shrinkage?
2. Is 4c determined by how little your hair wants to clump?(Level of frizz)
3. Is 4c determined by your actual pattern and it’s sequences
We've been taught that 4b is a tight coil and 4c is a zig zag. It really depends on what chart you look up. They're all different!
@@autchicab i thought it was vice versa
@@autchicab It’s the other way around lol 4b actually is zig zag. 4c is similar to 3c but tighter coils.
@@carzia_speed2235 yep
I definitely have a mix of zig zag with coils, but there’s very little clumping unlike the first guy. I consider my hair 4c overall, and shrinkage is a key factor. To me shrinkage (and I’m talking like 80%+) is what puts 4c in its own category. Does 4b hair tend to have just as much shrinkage?
I just realized how crazy we look arguing about some numbers and letters
hair typing system needs to broaden, hair porosity and hair density is more important *drops mic* 😽
True but hair type also helps know what styles will work for you. It's equally important.
I think it continues to perpetuate the narrative of hair types and one being better than another... just another box to keep us in.
Another unpopular opinion FACT hair porosity is constantly changing and it’s not as important to us as consumers. It’s more important for Hair colorist. I learned this fact from LICENSED hair professionals and not UA-cam university
I am a licensed cosmetologist and have been doing hair for a long time. I do know that hair types are different. The issue I have is assigning a number of one being straight and 4 being the most coily. Just call it what it is...hair with different curl structures. It dismisses porosity and density. The hair strand is multidimensional.
@@healingvirtuellc7620 right I also need black women to be freed from the shackles of the hair chart. It was created a by a man who had alottttt of self hatred. Take that chart with a grain of salt
I honestly believe that there are different categories in each category, if that makes sense😭
I get you! Like 4c.1, 4c.2 or something 😭
@@bandile_sn YESSSS!! I didn’t know how to put it😭😭
@@bandile_sn to make it even more complex most people have like 3 different textures on their heads 😭
Yeah sub categories within the main category.
Chizi: “I’m CRYINGGGGG!”
Also Chizi: “😐”
If that ain’t me over text 🤣
Black hair is so versatile! I’ve worked with hair and only a couple of people have that spring type hair on majority of their hair. I don’t know what hair type I would categorize it as but it really doesn’t fit any of the boxes. I genuinely believe it’s rare
I agree. I have parts of my hair like that. I have, maybe 3 different curl patterns and textures and that chart doesn't help much at all. I just say my hair is kinky-coily.
I respect you so much for admitting you were wrong, just more proof of the QUEEN that you are.
If he is 4c, then I’m definitely a 5f
“I'm a Young Money millionaire, *tougher than Nigerian hair”*
??? I’m full blooded Nigerian with some pieces of hair like his. My full blooded Nigerian great-grandfather has a full head of ringlets like his too......
@@themelanatednomad6989 Not every Nigerian has 4C hair. My whole family (damn near) is Igbo and my cousin has 4A hair...with the baby hairs and all.
😂
It was just a joke for goodness sake, I swear Nigerians have the quickest tongues lol. I’m full Nigerian an have 4b/4c hair...we know we don’t all have the same stuff
Lots of people get 4b (no coil/s pattern, tightest wavy pattern) mistaken for 4c (the tightest/smallest coil/curl).
Only 4a and 4c are coils/curls according to the chart.
4b is a zig zap/S pattern/tight waves.......
people with 4b think they have 4c.
All coils, curls and waves shrink. Extreme shrinking is not indicative of only those with 4b (wavy/s pattern no coil no curl) hair. Hair does what it do.
Also hair that is dry or in recovery from damage or neglect can lacks a coil/curl or wave pattern. Porosity also adds an element of confusion along with density and length. All these things (and more) can hide, change and alter a coil, curl and waves.
But coil/curl pattern is only useful when styling hair. 4a/4b hair will not do some of the things 2a and 3b will do with just a spritz of water same as 2a and 3b can’t do with 4a/4b hair can do with just a bit of hair butter.
4a here is also not 3c. 4a is the circumference of a crochet needle and 3c is a pen or marker sized circumference. Ppl mistype these two sooo much. As someone who has both I'm like ooofff.
@@epic7224 If anyone mistakes those two, that's crazy, they're very visibly different.
@@epic7224 you’re using big words wtf is circumference
Suddenly, everyone wants to be 4c. Now 4c hair is the "cool" hair type.
Lmao!
I have a friend who’s hair is like 3c and she wanna be 4c soooo bad lol
@@deandreagrant8240 Righttt

Chizi getting ready to say someone don't have 4C hair.
Chizi: first of all your skin in beautiful.
🤣🤣🤣
I vote for GREEN BEAUTY HAIR CHART 😌 instead of this 4c business. That hair chart actually helps you in giving your hair the best treatment possible. 😍
I love y'all but I genuinely don't think it's THAT serious. I understand that persons usually identify 4C to be what Chizi's hair is, for example. But as he said, by definition, his hair should definitely considered to be 4C. Unless they need to change the hair chart all together.
Exactly it’s too small to be 4b but too big to be 4c
They do because ppl out here calling 3c 4a. 3c is from a marker to a pen in circumference but it can be an s or an o. 4a is the circumference of a crochet needle, very small.
That chart wasn’t made for black people if were being honest...
www.mellohair.ca/blogs/news/the-disappointing-truth-about-the-most-popular-hair-chart
@@soph3378 they need to make hair categories for example 4c.1 and 4c.2 because not every type of 4c or any other hair type is the exact same on those charts
Guys it's not that deep, that's how super defined 4c looks like
The only thing categories are here for us to help people know what works for their hair and how to care for it. People are too wrapped up in it. It’s no big deal.
I think we underestimate how much strand surface texture (ie. how laid down one’s cuticle layers are) affects the look of one’s hair:
- naturally course surface: slightly lifted cuticle layers. make curls look frizzy and tricky to define
- smooth surface textures: laid down cuticle layers. strands look glossy, reflective, and pop easily.
(Very similar concept with finger nails.) He clearly has the latter. Curl size cannot be the end-all.
For the first guy, I think I have an idea. I think his hair IS the curl size of 4c hair but I read somewhere that there is the size and then there’s the shape. You can have a full spring/ringlet, s curls c curls etc. Most of us have a mixture of all of these. But I think his hair is ALL or a majority spring/ringlet type and that’s why it’s so defined like that, but I do think it’s 4c. I’ve seen a lot of people with 4c hair and all of their hair is 4c but it looks different. I know someone with mostly s like curls and her hair doesn’t shrink as tight as mine and kinda defines in its own. But it’s still 4c. You know what I mean?
Anyway at the end of the day it’s not even a big deal 😂 I just had an idea.
4c hair can definitely look like this.. my brother drenches his hair everyday, uses gel and DOESN’T comb it.. looks like this
If you look up 4c individuals who have done maximum hydration method in the past, 4c hair can be as defined just isn’t worth the hassle for most people.
Right the finger coil method
My 4c Nigerian hair behaves like this with water only. No products, no finger coiling. And I KNOW it's 4c cause my coils are even tighter than his. It's smaller than a pen spring (I've checked).
No lie. This is how 4c hair supposed to look with lotsssss of care and daily attention ( they usually wet their hair daily for the 1st year )
@user-sl8og5iw8k technically, 4c is hair that has curls the same size or smaller than a pen spring. I'm very sure mine counts cause it's smaller than a pen spring, but his is the same size, so it counts too as far as curl diameter is concerned. Now, smoothness/texture is a different ballgame. His hair is much silkier than mine. Mine only does this spiral thing at the base, it becomes a fuzzy afro towards the ends.
That okay at 5:56 😂😂 when you have to hold your tounge because the internet can't take nothing 😩
the surface texture of hair can be like cottony, wiry, spongy or silky..he can have a silky texture..which makes it look smooth and shiny...again proving the curl type is just how straight or coiling a strand of hair is. I'm 4a 4b. cottony/spongy texture with low sheen, and low shine.
Yeap true! Also o and s shaped curl patterns of the same circumference can look different.
For instance an s shaped 4a and an o shaped 4a can look like two different hair types. Same with 3c.
Yes, I forgot, I have tight o and s shaped coils
@@epic7224 yes! People really don't know what the I, s, o and z shaped curls/coils are so and they only using type 4a/4b/4c as categories which is where all the confusion comes from. People take one look at the hair typing chart and outta of nowhere think they are an expert.
@@ticheri16 ikr!
I have I, S and some O all on the same strand kn some parts of my hair lmao
I feel like people confuse 4c hair with like "afro" combed out hair. There are people with 3 type hair that have lots of frizz and fro like hair. That is not that the case. I would say he is 4c its just smooth and shiny.
His hair is 4c! If he were to comb his hair and thus break down the coils into individual strands, his hair would look like the 4c url are used to! His scalp produces perfectly uniformed coiled strands which most 4c typed people don't experience. Url are so used to seeing 4c as non-uniform coily strands to the point where you're closed off to the idea of other 4c types existing! My hair is exactly like his. Once I comb it out, it looks "normal".
That’s why I love her!!!! She is so humble and about the community she built! Love her!!!! 💗💕
Lol. That first guy. That's not my 4c. But I think we need to acknowledge that there are too many different heads of type 4 hair to fit into just 3 categories a, b and c
Andre Walker developed the hair typing system to market HIS hair products. It made it easier to advertise and market his signature line. He did not develop it to help people understand their own hair, he developed it so that he could sell his products. Clever.
The first guys hair looks like finger coils to me… I have 4b and I can get my hair like his by separating and coiling each individual hair strand which takes a couple of hours
He said that it isn't finger coils
Am happy he made a video in response. Much respect to him. WE ALL NEED TO KEEP EDUCATING OURSELVES 👀
Girl you are POPPIN ! the hair the makeupp, the fit, everything is just gorgeous ❤❤
I love the first guy’s hair! 😍 looked soft too.
I love this!! I'm learning so much! I absolutely misunderstood the whole 4c and definitely mistyped my hair. I now know I am not 4c.
I have mix curls 4a,4b,4c I think his hair is in the 4 family not sure if its exactly 4c

I can't stop looking at your hair, Chizi. It's so, so beautiful. Like wow. I saw you with many hairstyles, but this ought to be the best one I've seen on you.

I am sheet white with poker straight hair but I feel like I learn so much from these videos, including how to recognise, respect and appreciate beautiful natural hair.
I can never get tired of your reaction videos, especially natural hair related😹😹😹😹😹🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've always read 4c hair reminds you of the spring inside an ink pen and that's exactly what his hair looks like. His strands look fine and have shine. Put the picture black and white next to a black and white hair chart and it will look like 4c. You have to look at the coil examples not the people next to them
The first guy, this is my hair and ive always been told its 4c. Then one lady told me it wasnt. I know i go through the 4c struggle and im def not 4b!
Love his shiny 4c hair! (The first guy )
I love your hair so much! It’s so beautiful
I'm a white dude, my passion for hair does not make up for that! So take this with a grain of salt. But what I have found out of my research is...
Hair type: is the pattern, and can temporarily change with manipulation.
Hair shrinkage: is the difference between in length of the hair straighten and full natural. Can indicate the health of the hair. More shrinkage the better, can be limited by type, thickness [the amount hair on the head] and density [the thickness of each hair]
And the more important things to look for is: hydration levels, and if there's any damage.
Everything I'm missing? Still trying to educate myself💖
The braids are beautiful!
I love these series and you’re amazing!! However in today video, I just didn’t get I came for as you’ve been giving us in the pervious videos. Your thoughts, opinion and expert knowledge from your experience is valid and respected so yes it may be hard to tell for some hair, doesn’t take away from what you know! For the guy in the first video, I thought his hair was 4c and for the girl with the blonde hair, I would say 4b but maybe she has 4c in the back. It’s harder to tell with finner hair

Can we just create a Type 5 category for the Woolly hair people.
The effort to not step on toes in this video lol lol very respectful 👏 😂 😅 😄
That shrinkage on the one guy...I felt that. My hair shrinks that much too.
This hair typing and telling people what their hair is has gone on for far too long and it’s lead to a lot of negativity and discrepancies in the way people view natural 4c hair. Not everyone’s hair is going to be really dry, undefined and hard to manage 4c hair. You might have it, one of your friends might have it BUT that doesn’t mean you won’t see someone with softer, moisturized and defined 4c hair!!! He had a reason to be upset tbh.

Time for those braids to come out girl!!
Y’all are clearly not used to seeing 4C hair moisturized + defined. 🙄 He literally checks all the boxes for 4C hair: Small coils like the spring in a pen, 50%-75% shrinkage. What makes everyone confused is he has definition which apparently is a “rarity” for 4C hair. 🤦🏽♀️ y’all so used to the frizz that when you see definition in 4C hair, you automatically say, “ITS NOT 4C!!” I can’t with y’all lol. I personally only hair type by number without the lettering (i.e type 4) because of the over analyzation of everyone’s curl pattern with a damn microscope but his hair is 4C lol.
