I remember u from way back then I started transitioning to natural around 2010 and i remember u being one of the only girls on UA-cam with my hair type. I was so happy!! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
I'm jamaican and I used to do bantu knots all the time as a style, without the goal of pulling them out. But my hair is so long now, I can't be bothered
Watching how far you’ve come it resonates with me because I failed my certification exam twice, I was ready to f it all and give up. You started your journey in 2011 and I’ve been on my certification journey for a year... what’s my excuse. I can’t give up I’ll try till I succeed.
This is so inspiring. After two years of procrastinating because I don't have the right equipment for UA-cam. I finally started this year with my phone and natural light, not a lot of views but I enjoy what I do and I know I'm going to sit back and watch my videos 10 years from now and see the growth. Thank you so much
after being hesitant about the fact that I don't have all the right equipment I finally just started back up on my youtube channel, so you coming out with this is reassuring. ill take it as a sign lol
This for some reason is a motivation for me as a growing youtuber. It's a journey and for you to get somewhere you have to start. We only look back to see how far we have come 💓💓💓💓💓 love this
This is truly a testament to how hard you've worked and how much you have achieved. I started watching you years ago when I really did not understand my 4c natural hair, but I remember watching you and loving the way you loved your hair. You were a great example and still are! This video also acts as a source of encouragement for me to continue investing in my yt channel and keep loving myself. Well done Chizi! you are a beautiful woman and you have done so well, continue to excel✨
Chizi, I have so much respect for you. You're the realist youtuber I know, which is one of the many reasons why I've been following you for 4 years now. It's honestly amazing to see how far you've come. You totally deserve it! #NobodyCanTalkToYouAnyhow
I'm glad you decided to stick to it because I am here for the pretty, the 'smarts', the glamour, the entertainment, and the love of 4C hair. My favourite part is when you give us little snippets of your African accent, ever so often. So funny, so beautiful, and so meaningful at the same time because some of the things you see are so crazy that I agree it does require something more than just basic English. Lol! Some of the most honest and appropriate responses to madness can only be done best by either African or Caribbean people [or other cultures as well with the same kind of 'frankness']. We say it like we mean it and we don't 'water down' or hide our disgust, so it would make sense to use that accent when there is an 'outcry'. Lol. New subbie, btw. Come on 'social journalist'/Influencer!
Wow!! You’ve definitely been in the game for a minute! Wish I would had found back then, especially since I started my journey back in 2009. The glow up is amazing & I’m looking forward to seeing more of your success!!
Hey Chizi have you made a video on how you got to your success? How did you evolve with your content, your video equipment, learning how to edit, where did you learn all this and when did you start to get recognition and sponsors? Are you willing to do a live on this for hopeful youtubers?
Oh wow, it’s amazing how looking back on the times you see how much has changed around you but you’ve stayed true and strong through it all🤎🤎 this was so refreshing for my spirit🙌🏽
My hair is not quite 4c but I love your channel because you are very realistic and transparent about your hair grow. Not all hair grows at the speed of light and that’s okay and it’s also okay to have set backs in your natural journey and you have really been giving me hope. Thank you❤️
I love watching my old video because the camera quality back then was horrible. I'm glad that phone camera quality got better so even people that can't afford good cameras they can still do UA-cam and they're quality still be pretty good.
This was beautiful to watch Chizi! I have only discovered you recently and it was so lovely to see how far you've come. Nothing but love and blessings to you and your channel.
You were adorable! And eloquent, which forgive our teen years, but most don't sound as put-together in those years as you did, lol! Also, I certainly understand the tears. I have a LiveJournal I only use every few years now, but it was what I needed about a decade ago and I wrote a lot more back then. A year or so ago, I went through and read my old entries and shed some tears at my struggles back then, the biggest one being getting my driver's license. I was already in my early 20's and was very scared of hurting or killing someone else (not so much myself...) should I get in an accident. I was worried that as I wasn't getting the hang of it and kept making mistakes, I might have to be chauffeured around for the rest of my life, or move to a large city with public transportation. But I really didn't want to be reliant on public transport like that. What if I forgot something for dinner and just needed to run to the store real quick? What if I wanted to go somewhere on a whim? What about lugging my purchases. ack home? Not driving would be a major inconvenience. And at that time, my main goal was to move out on my own as I wasn't fond of my mom's new boyfriend and wanted to get away. But eventually...I did learn. And my mom realized the guy wasn't worth crap and left him. I stopped wanting to get away from the house so badly once things became more peaceful. And while things aren't perfect now, it's really amazing to look at the dark place I was at back then and to know that moments like that truly don't last forever. They will pass, and life does get better.
I can understand the emotions. I’m not a UA-cam-er, but when you see your hard work result in something wonderful, it helps you see it’s all worth it-especially when you know it helps so many. May you have 10 more years of great success!
I feel you when you say "look at those glasses" when i bought my first pair of glasses,I bought something similar and now I'm thinking, what was going on in my mind back then😂😂 Chizi your laughter kills me and one of these days I have started immitating it!😂
Believe it or not, what you had to say in the end couldn't be more timely for me. There's something I've been planning for a full year now and lately it's been a nagging thought. I have this feeling too. Like I HAVE TO DO IT! Or at least try. But in the same breath I've been so hesitant. I don't know if it'll work out. May God bless you Chizi for carrying that affirmation to me and I'm sure many others. Continue to blossom sis❤️❤️❤️
I think its good to watch the old videos so that you can look to see how far you came along, and its nothing wrong with crying that's just a genuine emotion :)
Always follow that feeling in your heart ♥️. I remember discovering while I was in college and you added to much joy and comedy to my life! So relatable, beautiful & inspiring!
Your journey is beautiful. Also, I'm raising 2 bi-racial Curly Crowned kiddos and trying to find people to show my daughter that embrace and love themselves head to toe and I'm so glad to have found you :)
Cantu leave in always left white balls on my 4C hair... it just would NOT absorb no matter how much or little i used XDD lol i couldn't stand it but i know a lot of people loved and still love it. I'll say that it always had a nice scent though
Well that could have something to do with your hair porosity. If you have low porosity hair (meaning it's more difficult to take in moisture) then you should apply a leave in while still in the shower after rinsing a conditioner because your hair is most porous and will take in more moisture rather than if you wait to get out of the shower
@@coeurgourmand thank you, I do in fact have low porosity and That’s exactly what I do when I apply product even though it can be exhausting it works for my hair. As far as Cantu, that’s what I was getting at to each their own. I know everything isn’t for everyone
Using Cantu leave in is how you know you are officially “going natural” 😂😂
...God, I felt that 🤣🤣🤣
why are we all truly the same😭 i still have it even though i stopped using it years ago
That shit made my hair hard af I’m so glad I stopped using it 😭
I'm still using it and my hair is just fine, I haven't found other affordable leave-ins for my 4c hair and my MOM is a HUGE FAN OF CANTU 🤣🤣🙈
I started with Cantu and Maui moisture lol
Chizi said I knew I was going to be a somebody 😂😂 you have really come a very long way chizi.🥺
