Hi ..! Dr Arsalan kindly help me out , my skin has extremely damage , it looks so dull , dark earlier i had fair skin , i applied tca 25% at home after that my skin has pigmentation and looking so dull please guid me how to overcome from this 🥹🥹🥹🥹
Dr. Aspires, when i look in the mirror up close, i see what appears to be a lot of very fine "cracks" in my skin, particuarly on my cheeks and my forehead. They dont seem to be fine lines. But is this a sign of an impaired moisture barrier? I dont have dry skin at baseline. In fact, my skin is combination and currently quite congested. Ive been stuck in a cycle where ive been irritating my skin with products and slathering on thick creams. Also, thank you for teaching us about how the skin works. UA-cam singlehandedly destroyed my skin, because i was running out to buy whatever a influencer was promoting. Now im sticking to a routine of using a gentle cleanser and a simple moisturiser. The Cicaplast Baume B5 has helped my skin immensely.
I realized I had been exfoliating way too much using different products when I cleansed my face one evening and put on the most mild moisturizer imaginable: the aveeno oat gel moisturizer “calm and restore” and it burned like 🔥 on my face. Red cheeks and tight skin also. Stopped all my exfoliating acids and retinoid. Will be moisturizing my skin back to health for the next couple weeks.
My cheeks got badly irritated almost 7 weeks ago after using a moisturizer and by plucking hairs on my irritated cheeks which worsened the redness significantly. I still haven’t healed and feel like my skin is badly damaged. Has your skin recovered ? Is the redness and tightness gone by now ? I’m so depressed because of the tight uncomfortable feeling on my cheeks I can’t even laugh or smile without feeling discomfort 😔
Can u plz make a vedio for specially oily and acne pron skin people.. who have damage skin barrier..also suggest the vedio what products they should use repair their skin barrier...
Very informative. Thank you dr. Could you please touch on how to treat exema on kids, sagging neck skin on adults and black heads (a la Morgan Freeman) on face, neck and chest for adults? Hope it’s not too much asking.
Vanicream cleanser and La Roche Posay (Lipikar moisturizer) are great for ppl with eczema. Both safe for newborns too. When drying the skin ALWAYS PAT to dry, never rub. It makes a difference.
Thank you so much for this video! I was hoping to ask a quick question. The only sign of a damaged skin barrier in my case is that my moisturizer and very mild exfoliant cause a mild burning on my nose that lasts for about 30 seconds. I have no inflammation, dryness, peeling, bad acne, etc. And all of my products are indeed for sensitive skin. I had a mild case of perioral dermatitis, and have been using metronidazole cream 0.75% for about 6 weeks. I stopped using hot water to cleanse my face, and the stinging from the products improved a fair amount, but it's still there. What does this sound like to you? Again, my skin mostly looks very healthy and I don't have any of the common symptoms of a damaged barrier except my products briefly stinging a bit! Thank you!
I was using the ordinary HA no problem. Recently went all fancy and got Maelove HA B5 and added some to my routine and my neck and chest are on fire, red, swollen and itchy. 🤦♀️ can this be too much HA? And how to fix it. Definitely going to take a break. I definitely do not have sensitive skin I do have all the CosRx products maybe I’ll try that tonight
It might have other ingredients that are irritating you. It looks like it has alcohols, which are drying. I also use the Ordinary HA and have no issues. Always look at ingredient list, sometimes simple is the best
I didn’t even know it had alcohol. But it is expensive $38. I just asked for a refund and no issues at all. I will definitely stick to my Ordinary products. Thanks
I’ve used it and it helped. Since it’s a lil thicker, I switched to Vanicream moisturizer once I noticed my skin getting better. I accidentally damaged my skin barrier when I tried a new product.
I did a daily salt bath for 3 months and now I have damaged my skin so much that I get attention too much due to the smells I attract from the environment and it really smells bad. I cannot even apply shea butter or cream in both my hair and body and nice fragrances and perfumes even smells bad on me😢 I need help please on how to restore my skin back to normal
If your skin barrier is mildly compromised due to over-exfoliation, harsh cleansers, or seasonal changes, it can start to heal within 1 to 2 weeks with the right care. If your skin is experiencing significant dryness, irritation, or inflammation (from conditions like eczema, severe dehydration, or strong acids), it could take 4 weeks or longer to fully recover.
@@ArsalanAspires hi, im a teen and i damaged my skin barrier 2 years ago. i used to have minimal oily teenage skin and literally no visible pores. then i damaged my skin due to overexfoilation and it continued for months because i thought it's purging despite the fact that i shouldn't use acids nor hydrating serums because they damage my skin and since im young. now my face has healed but left my pores dilated and my nose is the most sensitive and takes time to heal. But since im young and i notice using gentle cleanser and only at night, plus moisturizer and sunscreen is better for my skin. do you think my skin would return to the way it was back then? or the pore size would stay the same 😢
what if my skin is so damaged it hurts 24/7 and hurts even to touch, no barrier left whatsoever on my forehead, hurts to sweat, cold hurts, hot hurts, even water hurts, and it peels constantly and just doesn't feel like skin at all. it gets worse everyday and I'm scared it will never recover. I'm so sad please help I literally can't live my life anymore
I’m not a skin care professional at all, but I just hurt inside reading your description of your current skin condition. In my opinion, it’s time to see a dermatologist; if you don’t have insurance coverage for a specialist, even making an appointment with your primary doctor would be a place to start, ask questions, get their impressions. Thinking of you 💗
Omg im going through the exact same thing!! Have you found any relief by now ? I badly damaged my skin 6 weeks ago by using a moisturizer which irritated my cheeks. I’ve made it all worse by plucking hairs on my cheeks which worsened the redness significantly. I’ve used steroid creams which helped to reduce the redness a little bit but I feel like they gave me side effects so I stopped. My skin is now tight and painful on certain spots on my cheeks all the time it’s extremely depressing and I can’t even live normal because of this. I hope this will recover someway because I can’t live like this.
@curtis5 Unfortunately not. The tight uncomfortable feeling has become less and has improved. However I’m now dealing with another skin issue. I didn’t wash my face for like 2 weeks not even with water because I though it would heal my redness from contact dermatitis. Doing this and also over exfoliating a while ago has turned my skin extremely greasy and oily. it feels so uncomfortable and I hate the way I look like 😔 I wish I just left my skin alone and waited for it to recover instead of doing stupid things like that because now I have permanently damaged my skin. I also made it worse by using a retinoid cream which caused further oiliness and redness and breakouts. What symptoms are you dealing with ?
@@ArsalanAspires, I have a very destroyd skin barrier, extremely sensitive, very dry, like chalk, can't use hyarolonic acid etc. The only thing that works for me is the "Weleda Almond" line (for very sensitive skin) The creamy cleanser, the face cream and facial lotion has been a game changer and absolutely wonderful. It's such a relief! No burning, no itching. My skin immediately calmed down, and is now feeling far more comfortable. I just wanted to share this information in case it might be useful to others.
Do you also have tight uncomfortable skin on the damage areas ? I do and it’s painful and uncomfortable 24/7. I’m depressed and don’t know what to do 😔

I had that happen to me when i started, too. What I did is switch to la roche posay hydrating cleanser and another ceramide moisturizer without niacinamide. I use aestura hydro soothing cream. You don't need to use that one, but look for something with ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids. A great moisturizer is more useful than a soothing toner. Also, lessen the amount of days you use tret. Maybe to once or twice a week after you heal.
Just recently, I finally saw how snail mucin is harvested. It's not kind. 😢 (Once I really thought about it, DUH, there's no such thing as snail retirement homes, and you can't ask politely for them to secrete.) The snails are sprayed with acid to make them panic and secrete their mucin, then killed after they stop secreting (about 5 times max). Soooo unfortunately the "no harm" is absolutely incorrect. 😞
