    That was a nice job you all did with the two tractors and equipment attached. I love using my equipment like that and still have some landscaping to take care of and is waiting until it gets colder where the ground will be easier to move.

    Yes, I do like watching the small tractors and what they can accomplish. I am looking to buy some land in Tennessee and I'm going to build a timber frame home and work the property. So, now I'm considering what equipment I will need, tractor with loader, tiller, box blade, grapple, belly mower, and who knows what. 🙂

    it's been a wet year for most of us in the region and all have had some drainage problems. I am going to have to reshape some areas to get it to drain better because I just couldn't get it mowed with water standing. Great video. Hi Christy. That is a beautiful barn.

    Rex really was great with that box blade. I would have had to ask him for pointers on becoming better with one. Mentioning the size of the project and needing persistence to see it through, that's kind of what you have to think when you see a really huge project like digging a lake even with large equipment. It took us 3 years to build a 67 acre lake with 2 Cat D8's (1 pulling a 14 yd scraper) and 2 smaller FiatAllis dozers the first two years, and hired in a crew the last year with another 2 Cat D8's (one pusher and one pulling a 21 yard scraper), and 2 paddle wheel scrapers. It was a huge project and even though the equipment was so large the 3/4 of a mile worth of digging took a lot of time to move that much dirt. It kind of reminds me of how big an ant pile can be even though the ants are so small.

    Someone once asked me why I use to do everything with a small little mower instead of a bigger machine. And after really thinking about it it became clear that I enjoyed the challenge of making something work. Yes I could have got something bigger. But the fun was making something do the job that probably shouldn’t

Personally, I think you could've done this job with just Johnny, maybe a little longer time in doing so. Look back to that big tiller job that you did. I have been extremely happy with my TopCon rotary laser level. The slope feature ensures the french drains I install are always set correctly. I just finished up installing 300’ at my parents place. If I could only get a grade rod in 8ths instead of 10th it might make more sense to all that help me.
    I agree with being Leary about mounting the magnetic base and receiver in the box blade. It’s too expensive to risk damaging it or running it over if it fell off.

    I did something to that effect on a driveway that has water runoff from county road to the front door of the house. I used my boxscraper with tilt to dig a small swale to the field below the house. As far as I know the water has greatly stopped going to the front door. Tilting boxscraper and backing up will dig quickly. Slow and constant use of lift lever to attempt to keep a grade.

    I made a comment in another video on the quick connect hanging down on the 2028r ( Jonny 2) It does not lock up into place like the 1025? I know the deck uses a different method of lifting then the 1025. I would catch that the first time out with it.

    Tim does it work to lower your bucket down to within 6 or 10 inches of the back to utilize 4 in 1 bucket like a box scraper earthmover? The bottom blade would load the bucket up when it was cutting the let the dirt out when it wasn't cutting? Just my thoughts.

  • @hsmith3844
    @hsmith3844 5 років тому +3

    How do you like the learning curve on the 4-way bucket? Was you friend using the front cutting edge flat on the ground while he dragged the box blade or set at a specific depth?...... Very nice job.

  • @noc8076
    @noc8076 5 років тому +1

    Tim, you know there is a valve, usually in front of the seat, where you can adjust how fast the three point hitch sinks. You can set it so your implements don't drop but instead decent smoothly.

  • @Drew6709
    @Drew6709 5 років тому

    Tim, you could have tilted the right lift arm on Johnny2 to get a gentle swale. Might use outer rippers at highest engaged position. Rex sure looks to be at home using the boxscraper. If you needed to go deeper, tilt right arm and go backwards to dig a deeper swale IF ABSOLUTELY NEEDED. Be careful with top link (if hydraulic) being extended too far. Could have used rear blade for this as well.

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  5 років тому +1

      You can fiddle with adjustments like that forever. We needed to move lots of soil. Best way to do that is the keep moving it...a box full at a time. Don’t sweat the details....just getter done.
      We had no need for fancy tilt functions for this project.

    Bulldozers use them on their blades. When I had 103 semi dump trailers (sand trucks) drop them in my back yard, the Dozer used a laser to set his blade level. That was some work. He allowed two or three trucks to dump and he would level and pack and extend. We had to level out 120' of backyard for a metal building. Then came the 93 cement trucks. Wow. I cut a nice curving creek bed for my beloved and have a little to go. Wish I had a box ! Used tiller and front end loader.

    I couldn't help but notice that when the Sun was shining bright the canopy on Johnny did very little to keep the hot Sun off the operator. Comparing the ROPS height between the two tractors it appears like the canopy would be much more effective on Johnny-2 with its lower ROPS as compared with the sky-high ROPS on Johnny. Maybe it would be different if Johnny was working closer to the equator. :-)

    Hello Tim. I hope you and your family are well. I like all the finished product you come out with on all your projects, very admirable definitely. However, I can't help but think that so many of your projects could be accomplished much easier with a nice little finish dozer and laser. However I understand the dozer has limited other uses. I prefer a track loader , say a cat 939 or Deere 450c track loader any day compared to a Dozer which I am horrible on. Continued success and praise Jesus Christ our Lord and savior.
