How did I ever miss this band? I was very much into similar early 90s alternative bands - Mazzy Star, Sundays, Juliana Hatfield, Bettie Serveert, etc. Yet I never heard of Madder Rose until very recently. Thought they were a new band at first - what a shame to find out they broke up 14 years ago and never made it big. What a perfect song! Same with Panic On.
I hadn't heard of Madder Rose until 1996. I went to Boston to see Tanya Donelly play live at the Paradise Club. Billy & Mary were part of her session band. They closed the show with Tanya & Mary singing Car Song. As soon as I got home, I bougjht the album and fell in love with Madder Rose.
Oh man, this song just sends me straight back to those early 90s days when alternative really was the alternative (and bloody hard to find in record shops and on tv!). Listened to this on my 10inch ep over and over again. Saw her supporting Tanya Donelly in the early 2000s asSt Low, beautiful voice. Thanks for stirring the memories!
The B sides are so good too. Holiday is just dreamy / heavy / perfect. I had this on over and over and over .... Can't understand where the last 25 years went... They should have been bigger!
This is one of my top 10 favourite songs. Bought it on CD single when it came out and I think it scraped the UK Top 40. Love the Twin Peaks mixed with Lemonheads vibe, plus one of the most beautiful voices this side of Kate Rusby.
@Public Nuisance yep, you got me. I'm such a virgin. Pitiful isn't it? That's why I spend time learning how to spell. You're too busy being a dick head to do that though.
What? Tell her hello from Michael in Kansas. I used to listen to Madder Rose in Architecture studio in college back in the early 90''s when I had to stay up for days. I still miss her voice. She is one of my all time favorites. Best Regards.
this is the one that has a little bit of mazzy starr feel to it in the softer parts... upstate ny, madder rose, reminds me of my college days... good stuff! thanks for the upload.
The first song I knew by them was «Beautiful John» on Mtv in the early 90's... then I bought the CD (2nd hand). Never heard about them since then... One of my favourite bands. I wish I'd could seen them live!
Agree with herjazz on the Mazzy Star connection - in fact I think both bands represent the cream of the '90s crop. This is probably my favorite rock songs ever - the soft/heavy transitions, though overdone by bands at the time, are just awesome here. "I think of you all day long...so try to get some sleep." Who cannot be moved by that lyric?
KU? I first heard of them when they opened for Belly in May 96. (a tornado passed through town earlier that night. Really.) My 1st year in KU Arch/Urban design.
There are hundreds of thousands of songs out there...but this is my absolute favourite bar none.
God I miss them.

All those bands were the soundtrack to every road trip I took in the 90's; how I miss those days...

Oh my! This song is so haunting!
I also feel as if there's something missing in itself... That makes it even more haunting. And beautiful.

I´ve been searching for this song for the last 15 years!
Along with Mazzy Star and The Pixies, Madder Rose got me through University.
@Public Nuisance even with the spelling mistakes corrected, that makes zero sense.

total flashback.... watching mtv with friends passed out at 4 in the morning... "woah! mtv is playing something cool!"

I love this band, Car Song and Panic On are two of my favorite songs from '94.
Mary Lorson is basically every girl I had a crush on in the 90's.
Lol! Quite amusing.
Her and Carol van Dijk of Bettie Serveert.. they don't get any more beautiful.
Amazing band. They played several times at Lilis 21 in Hamtramck. Always put on an amazing performance.

They just dropped their new album "To Be Beautiful" in 2019.
My fave Madder Rose song ever!

Awesome. My one and only favorite female Band!
+Darren Lim save for the fact that it is a female led band, not female band.
+Ray Young right you are. silly me
that's kind of sad, that you have only one favorite female-led band. There were at least 10 amazing female fronted bands from this same era alone.
Digging in the crates here, I had forgotten these guys
So glad I bought Panic On in 1995 with no idea what I was doing. ♥
Thank you for the upload!
fanastic band and a great video which I've never seen before! Thanks :o)
Great song about romantic obsession!
So Many Memories.... 10/10.....
Forgotten about this album! Someone borrowed my copy and then just refused to return it...
KU? I first heard of them when they opened for Belly in May 96. (a tornado passed through town earlier that night. Really.) My 1st year in KU Arch/Urban design.
god this song is beautiful. I guess the only way people would come across this now is because it was in one of John Peel's Festive Fifties..
I WANT TO LIVE IN 19994 FOREVER
You and me both.
Now it's 2020, and I really want to go back to1994!
That’s a long way away... 17,972 years, to be exact

Saw the love you save by madder Rose in a charity shop today, I'd never heard of them until now, wish I bought it lol. That's a Jackson 5 cover right?
Game changer outfit.
